Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren: “There Is Nobody In This Country Who Got Rich On His Own.” Ironic that this sentiment mostly comes from people who never did sh*t in their lives except suck at one public teat or another. Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages. Cured morbid fear of heights when I learned to look at them as lengths standing on end. Uncompromising in refusal to accept browser cookies. Amateur investor who has accumulated a small fortune in the market after starting out years ago with a large one. For recreation, I run, hike, kayak and play tennis but will not consider synchronized swimming under any circumstances.

  • Overall many people make it through life from the worst situations to the excellence and success. The truth is that we do always have people that help us in life when we WANT TO BE BETTER OR DO BETTER with our lives. The point that she was making though is that, because those who are able to become "rich" did not make it there on their own AND SO THEREFORE they must carry the weight of government expenses on their back. The thing is that if a corporation or bank or a "rich" person is forced to take on all the government expenses on their own, they will not longer have the money to do so and will become poor. Then who will be there to take on those expenses? If everyone is poor everything is bad. It is not possible for everyone to be rich, that is just not reality, but it is possible for everyone to have as much as their efforts and knowledge give them but theeffort most come from them. By taking money and not allowing them to gain money they are stiffling the possibilities of getting money in the future. These people are useless and do not think beyond their own asses.

          • Of course we have! Rest assured most of us were early on the list of reportees there. Probably by well over one of troll's idents. Her busybody self has probably been reporting many from all the less-than-left sites she trolls in. That would explain her diminished presence here. That's okay, though. I report myself at least 5 or 6 times a day.

  • What Warren conveniently ignores (if she even understands it to begin with, given who she is) is this: Wal-Mart's owners are rich because people WANT to go there. Apple's, Intel's and Coke's owners are rich because people EAGERLY and VOLUNTARILY buy their products. Contrast this with many public skools that the government FORCES people to use, or at least support. Contrast this with CFL bulbs and "green energy" junk that the government MANDATES people use whether they're any damn good or not. Nobody in the government mandated group gets rich on their own because the stuff they make sucks. Everybody in the first group would be rich on their own, even if there were no such thing as money because they CREATE wealth. Their creativity and productiveness is what society advances on, not the mandates and delusions of vapid bureaurcats like Obama and Warren. You only have to look at the USSR for proof; when they collapsed in the 80s, they were still trying to "figure" a way to produce steel efficiently while the West was creating personal computers and cell phones.

    The Kennedy Family of today meets that level too, since they did NOT work for their money. John Kerry-Heinz too, since he is no more than a gigolo, sleeping with rich women and getting their money.

  • What she's saying is true, you know. A lot of far righters like to believe that Horatio Alger's stories were nonfiction, but hard work and a plucky attitude alone won't make a poor person rich. It also requires opportunity, talent, a whole lot of hands up, and dumb luck----i.e., being in the right place at the right time.

    The main reason people cling to that Horatio Alger illusion is to have an excuse to blame the poor for their own problems, and to duck societal responsibility.

      I don't know how you come up with your delusions, whether it's voices or believing lies that have been spoon fed to you from birth, but you don't really have much of a knowledge base to make any sound arguments. Your thinking is severely flawed and almost completely illogical.

      Someone who got rich didn't just have a lucky moment. That never happened until there was a lottery. The first gold prospector got his ass there and panned for gold, it didn't fall into his hands. Bill Gates didn't sit on his ass and have an idea and have it develop on its own. Dave Thomas didn't start by being CEO of Wendy's he started by cooking hamburgers.

      Talent, yes, if your product is a dud you won't sell many.
      Hand Outs - No - Handouts don't help small businesses: loans and word of mouth yes but not handouts.
      And dumb luck, well any luck is good but most successful business people have more skill, talent and know how than luck!

        Of course, it's nothing of the sort. But those who are getting those fat tax breaks courtesy of the rest of us taxpayers, plus the next two or three generations of taxpayers, know a good thing when they see it, and aren't going to turn loose of them without a fight.

        That's a nice warm, fuzzy sentiment, Jethro, but in fact it's not very realistic. There are quite a few well educated or skilled Americans sweeping floors these days (or trying to find jobs sweeping floors). There are also quite a few Americans who can't afford the time or money to get a better education. And, as the far right continues to fight the efforts of Americans to push for decent wages, decent working conditions and decent benefits, those dead-end jobs are likely to become more numerous, where jobs that pay a living wage continue to disappear.

Read any of the works of the Cultural Marxists (for example all the published articles of the Frankfurt School) as well as the current comments by the head of the SEIU and UAW about fomenting class warfare...your denials and refusal to accept verifiable facts make them no less true, just prove you to be a sour prune who will go to the ovens swearing they are showers and leading a reluctant child by the hand...
