So I have to say:
http://my.barackobama.com/page/s/join-attack-wire-today
Is this a thing? This exists?
The one benefit that SHOULD be cut is the retirement plan, for those who have not earned a combat patch. If you spend 20 or 30 years in non-combat roles you should get the same pay for retirement as the current plan, but it should not start being paid until you hit the current national (used to be called federal) retirement age. There is NO good reason to pay such veterans from the day they retire. They can go to work and earn their keep like the rest of us and, when old and weak, take advantage of a very nice retirement plan.
Really? You want to tell that to the people that are maintaining the fighter jet you are flying because they never were under fire?
There are quite a few vital support jobs that just because they never face fire, still deserve their retirement when they earn it.
I get mine at 60, combat or not, due to being a reservist.
If they want to change this, fine, but only with NEW contracts, not people currently serving.
congress is a joke, yet its a joke played onto the American tax payers, these self serving slime molds are like spoiled little kids whose father owns a candy store, I posted this below before but it seems so appropriate with this nonsense, will ANY member of congress address the waste? crickets
Notice S.S. and the military are NOT on this list..

My question is, what is all this doing in the budget in the first place?!
Add the Fed, the IRS, EPA, and a few others and we will talk.
I can say this: Its a good start!
Also add all those porkulous projects and bullshit studies....
It was a promise kept, to get reelected.
OK, the pay raise was cut from 1.8% to 1%, housing allowance is now increased to 1% BELOW the housing increase in their area, and now the military has to make co-pays on prescription drugs.
What that works out to overall is a cut in pay. There is no chance of these kids keeping up with inflation, much less getting an actual raise. How the hell can they afford to buy food when their BAS (monthly Basic Allowance for Sustenance) is less than what they need to buy food for a week? The government is choking the military in order to send money to people that hate us and support the lazy! This sucks!
This will do wonders for morale in the military. These assholes better hope somebody doesn't go ooppps when flying something that goes boom over DC.
Really sick of this. We need to GET.RID.OF.THEM.ALL.
When are Republicans gonna get a real spine? They need to change the Elephant to a stream of tinkle.....Every time someone says boo, they pee. What a F*cking mess they have become. Why don't they cut WELFARE benifits? Those people don't do a damn thing to earn it.
Why do they even bother to put an R after their name?
cuz it's easier than posting self-abusing rooster-vacuumer?
So...when's the Revolution?
I don't mind taking a hit to balance the budget when all that other crap has been cut already. However, when they won't even consider cutting crap, in fact, increase the funding for crap.... "We have to cut somewhere..." But we can fund studies on how to get mountain lions to run on a treadmill? Teaching sea monkeys to swim? Mating habits of albino squirrels? Gonad sizes of ducks? New fricken dress uniforms for women? New combo covers for women? (Men and women have to look the same in uniform, but can they? And why spend money on new blouses for women then in the service uniform if you want us to look the same in uniform?) Both Dems and Repubs parties can, well, you can fill in the blanks.
Strina, the uniform thing really confuses me.
My father's funeral was last Wed, and there were 3 Air Force members there for the Honor Guard. When I was walking in, I commented to one of them that "I appreciate you gentlemen being here for my dad". Turns out that, that one was a woman! I used to be able to tell them apart at a distance because of their blouse and collar tab, but now even up close, it's tough to tell who is who! She had her hair tied back tightly in a bun, and it even looked like she had a men's haircut! I didn't notice until she came in for the flag ceremony, and I saw the hair from behind. I wanted to apologize for my error, but they left before the service was over.
I'm sorry to hear about your dad, Papa.
As for the uniforms: Women in the honor guards have always dressed in the men's dress uniform. However, they are now spending TONS on "wear-testing" the men's uniform for the women in the navy, along with the men's combo cover for women senior NCOs and officers. its taking away our heritage and it looks absolutely ridiculous. They just spent tons on developing and wear-testing princess cut blouses for women's service uniforms. All the money spent on uniform development then they go and cut gym hours or commissary hours because of lack of money. Priorities.
Thanks Strina.
Don't they ever get tired of wasting money on shit they will never adopt?
Yeah, pisses me off too. Stop taking away from soldiers benefits or you will not have any good ones left. If you have to take money away from the Armed Forces then get rid of your damned crony capitalism contracts. Boeing and Lockheed have made enough off Crony deals.
"Stop taking away from soldiers benefits or you will not have any good ones left."
I have to disagree with this one Cape. excluding the officer class I think that those who serve do so do for love of Country, i.e. patriotism. I think you would do well to reconsider your position.
addendum:
We are persuaded that good Christians will always be good citizens, and that where righteousness prevails among individuals the Nation will be great and happy. Thus while just government protects all in their religious rights, true religion affords to government it's surest support.
George Washington
I actually did join up for a pride in my country initially. This country has sank down a large shithole since I have been in and it is becoming harder to find things to have a pride in. When the government decides to screw over those who volunteer to give up their lives to protect the others in the country in favor of non citizens and non workers, its not a country worth having pride in anymore.
I have great pride in what America was founded for and what it once was, but the government has grown too powerful and it has been wearing on my love of this country constantly. I haven't given up yet, but if we get another Clinton or Bush in office in 2016, that may just finish it off for me.
Side note: The military is huge in my family:
Grandmother was a nurse in WWII
Grandfather was an infantry man
Three uncles served
Two cousins
My Father
My Brother-in-Law
A few of my uncles-in-Law.
Its a huge thing for us and we appreciate it greatly, sadly it feels that due to those in office many others do not appreciate us.
When you ask someone to push their minds and bodies to the limit and break themselves for the mission, and then you decide to take away things promised to them (trying to remove pensions for currently serving members) in favor of giving free shit to non citizens, makes this not worth having pride in anymore. When non citizens are treated better than veterans, it can really piss one off.
I do not see anyone good joining the military in the future if they continue to value illegals over veterans.
