Federal grant for studying… duck genitals. “If nobody else will provide funding to study the secrets of duck genitals, does the government have a moral obligation to do it?” Why, will the ducks not procreate if some bureaucrat doesn’t “study” them? It’s only $385K but if you add up all the duck genital-type items in the Federal budget, you’ll probably come up to big money.

Not surprising considering they also fund research into sea snail sex, and there are also laws in some states that you can't have sex with porcupines.
Sickening, however, yes, it's devastatingly sickening.
What's with the whole studying sex thing? I mean seriously is it THAT fascinating and complex that it needs hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars of tax money to be studied? I don't get it.
I've been a diligent student for decades, and for a lot less money.
If I'm not incorrect, ducks have been doing just fine, for quite some time, without "scholarly" intervention. Leave the ducks alone, and keep your damn hands out of my pocket!
Seems to me the government could send a couple of investigators over to the set of Duck Dynasty one day, and ask all the questions they might have - AND save a bunch of money. Dumb quackers.

Why spend any money to study duck genitals? As long as the ducks know what they are for, & they do, there is no need to study them beyond what we already know.
