Remember last week’s story about the California boy who was told by his school principal that he could no longer fly the American flag on his bicycle?
The school eventually backed down in the face of public outrage.
But the story continued Monday morning when young Cody Alicea rode his bike to school with an escort – hundreds of patriotic bikers, many of them veterans.

Everytime I read a story about America being dissed BY AMERICANS I get so angry I could spit! This is the same as the boys in another California school who were told they could not wear American Flag/pariotic themed t-shirts on Cinco de Mayo. Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of a past victory in some 2 bit village in Mexico. MEXICO doesn't even recognize it as a major holiday! Why are we trying to make it more important than being an American? If we are such a raaaaciiiissst, loser country, why is everybody and his brother trying so hard to get here? I say fly that flag everyday. At your house, on you vehicle, everywhere. Tell the losers that America IS a great country, and that while ANY country can use some fine tuning, we at least are trying.
Upon arrival at school Cody says to the principal "How you like me now, BOOYAH!"

I love this so much! That kid will be the most popular kid in that school. I don't even understand the problem to begin with. He is an American citizen who displays HIS country's flag... what's the problem? Seriously HE gets in trouble because OTHERS have stated that they MIGHT beat him up... because they are offended by him (a citizen) displaying a flag of HIS country?! Really?
I wonder if it's considered ok to fly the flags of other countries, say,.... Mexico, at this school?
I know for a fact that in Mexico they wouldn't like it if I went down there with an American attitude and colors and DEMANDED others respect my offense at the myriad of Mexican flags that abound. Mexicans are not into tolerance. Just read their newspapers and see their news and shows and you see what I mean. This is so hypocritical and disgusting.
Yeah, like when their president got all fussy over AZ's new laws, then when asked about the immigration process of getting into HIS country he was like "Oh yeah we are very strict".
If you read their immigration process vs ours, it would disgust you to know that on theirs they actually EXPECT you to contribute to society and hold a job, and prove that you can make it on your own without assistance, while ours does not have such requirements or followups.
Exactly and Mexico is not alone in the hypocrisy. Although the US does demand LEGAL immigrants to prove they can be here without assistance and so on, but it is the passing over of those regulations for the illegals that disgusts me. If you go through the legal channels first off, you have to jump through hoops which is fair, but if you are illegal things are hurried once you feel like going through the process after years and decades of being here illegally... that is seriously messed up.
This is really, really cool! It really too sad just how stupid liberals are, and in particular in california..."the" case study in how not to run a state or anything else for that matter....
I often take my giant rocking horses to charity events held at schools, donating all proceeds to whatever charity is putting on the event. I think now that I will have to incorporate the American flag into my costume somehow, and see if the administrators will harass me. How ironic would that be?

The Principal needs to take a history lesson. She might not be aware that cinco de mayo is not a Mexican holiday. It was created in California as an excuse to party and get drunk. It should be manditory that all Schools SHALL display the Flag of The United States and encourage everyone to carry one. The flag of Mexico is NOT the American symbol. Respect it as you would Flags of all Nations. The Stars & Stripes stands above them all. Fire the Principal and all the other liberal fools who now infest the educational system. Time to get back to educating the kids.

Really? At first I was enjoying reading through this site, but after reading this, which is the 5th story I have read I think, I'm beginning to think that it's a lot of you who are the idiots.
No issue is completely black and white, however it does seem that the you on the right are much more willing to view things in such a light (I'm neither left nor right btw).Idiots are everywhere in this world. In fact, annoyingly, they seem to significantly outnumber those of us who are fans of rationality. You may be wondering why I am posting all of this in what may appear to be a seemingly innocuous post, yet the post by Ray here, and also moudoka's "why do Californians hate america so much?" post, left me with little choice. You are one of the few modern countries in the world that still hasn't woken up to something that was said quite a long time ago, to quote George Bernard Shaw:

It's a very scary world for those of us who think, with people like you in it. You remind me of the bill hicks joke of the woman who asks him "What you reading for?". Not "what are you reading?", but "What are you readying FOR?"
I would ask you to take a step back, think about how you came to your current convictions (I mean beliefs, not the various times you have been to jail), and ask yourself, deep down, is this what you really think? Or what the fools have convinced you of?

Wait... what? This issue is not black or white? What does that mean? It is pretty clear cut. The boy is an US citizen by birth (it seems), he a citizen of THIS country chooses to display HIS country's flag while he rides his bike (which is not unlawful). People that consider themselves to be part of ANOTHER country and culture get mad because this boy is displaying HIS country's flag WITHIN the borders of HIS country. Then they mean to be violent against this boy for doing something that is not unlawful to do in his country. So the administrators take that as an excuse to punish the boy and keep him from exercising his constitutional rights and not unlawful behavior. Whereas it is the others who are in the wrong. What is gray about this issue?
Where are you from? So basically what you are saying is that I can go to YOUR country and get an attitude about me being a US citizen and believing that my culture is superior than yours and tell you that wearing YOUR flag WITHIN the boundaries of YOUR country offends me and that I will beat you up and I create tension in YOUR country's school or bldg and then your country's school administrators side with ME and punish YOU for wearing YOUR country's flag on you or on your bike? ha? If you can sincerely tell me that it is TOTALLY OK for me to emigrate WILLINGLY into your country and then not assimilate and keep my cultural background and fly the colors of my country's colors and then create cultural tension in the school and menace the citizens of this new country that they shouldnt display the colors of their country WITHIN their country... if you can tell me that is okay and that you shouldn't display your country's flag in your own country to prevent violence from me and to prevent me being offended... then I guess you have a point, but I daresay you will not like that and hence you have no point.

Pete, your argument, based upon George Bernard Shaw's quote, is non sequitur. In case you don't know California is one of 50 states in the U.S. You are taking an American vs. American patriotism argument and expanding it to have global meaning. Understand that and the real definition of the word "patriotism" as "devoted love, support, and defense of one's country; national loyalty" and you will be closer to understanding the embarrassment California happens to be.
