One mystery of the government shutdown is why Republicans are so apoplectic about the Affordable Care Act, a piece of legislation that aims to make health insurance more affordable for millions of Americans.
Higher taxes, higher prices, lower quality of services, fewer services altogether, drop in quality of life, drop in life expectancy, rationing, long lines, the nationalization of our bodies and a system that is of more benefit to the insurance companies than the people that supposedly can’t be trusted to get health care on their own. What is not to love?

The old female Assange looking Sebelius essentially stated that individuals don't matter, if they refuse to sign up, that is their right, but they will have to pay a fine... whereas businesses got exemptions. Sighs... So we have a right to refuse but we will get penalized if we do, so in the end we DON'T have a right to refuse. This entire thing is a method of control and it is disgusting.
At least the fine is WWWAAAAAAAYYYYY cheaper than the insurance.
We have lost our country when we are okay with the government:
1. Telling businesses what to do (the marketplace should do that, vis a vis the public should demand an end to previous medical issues or being overweight discrimination and/or asking for adult children to remain past 18),
2. Protecting businesses bad practices (allowing discrimination for example) by not doing what they are supposed to do (government should step in with tort reform and not allow for monopolies, so smaller and more efficient insurance carriers can flourish and allow for all insurance carriers to compete across states). Allowing for insurance companies to essentially monopolize regions, makes them feel safe and able to discriminate who to insure or not insure and who to pay off and not pay off. If they have true competition and have to truly compete nationwide with small/medium companies that are willing to take risks: not discriminate, allow adult children to remain in parents insurance, etc. insurance companies will have to change their business practices in order to fit the needs of the marketplace demands.
3. When the government is willing to penalize its law abiding citizens through heavy taxation, fines or jail time for NOT buying something (completely unconstitutional)
4. When the Supreme Court doesn't give a sh*t in order to look good to the elites.
5. Force you through government manipulation to join the government "healthcare" program, putting your healthcare in true danger when the govt inevitably runs out of other's people's money in order to pay for ppl's health.
All of these things are bad and the fact that we have less producers and more low information voters that cannot process simple facts is the reason this country is going to hell in a handbasket.
Did you forget politicization of health care? If the IRS is any indication, then anyone who's contributed to a Republican candidate will be known by the left wing bureaucrats administering it. About that immediate operation you need, Tea Bagger? We'll get back to you. Maybe.
How do you tell a LIV? Well, it's someone who believes in the promise of ObamaCare. And how do you tell an informed voter? It's someone who understands ObamaCare.
According to the percentages of adjusted income on the government supplied chart I saw, I would be paying about a hundred a month for the lowest level of insurance. I'm not sure what the deductible would have been. My adjusted income is VERY low, since my entire life revolves around my businesses.
I guess I COULD lie and say it's low enough to have a zero premium, but there's that thing I like to call integrity that gets in the way.
Integrity!?! No way you're a Democrat! What?!? I'm sorry, I thought this was POLITCO...I'm in the wrong blog...what's up with that?
Democrat? Hush yo' mouth!
What's not to love? Indeed. Bonus: no one will likely verify income so everyone gets a shot at the max subsidy! The House tried to fix that but the Senate Majority Leader has already said the bill is DOA.

Even with max subsidy, it is unaffordable to get anything but the plans with $6000 deductables.
It makes more sense to pay the fine and pay for your own healthcare as you need it.
I predict that there will be more people without healthcare after Obamacare is fully implemented than there are now.
That's what seems to the missing piece of the puzzle. The deductible. I've debated elsewhere with pro-ACA people who argue that premiums are comparable to what they CLAIM they pay now but nowhere can I get solid deductible figures. The Kaiser subsidy calculator takes into account premiums and out of pocket maximums but no mention of the individual or family deductible.
That deductable number ($6000) is what I got from an insurance agent.
The following is direct from the email the agent sent me:
BlueCare HMO Everyday Health 1483 Premium $569.28
Benefits
Metal Level Bronze Plan Benefits
Annual Deductible Individual: $6,000 /Family: $12,000
Coinsurance (%) 0%
Annual Out-of-PocketMaximum(includes deductibles, copays and
coinsurance)
Individual: $6,250 /Family: $12,500
Physician Office Visits
Primary Care Physician $0 for first 3 visits, $40 Copay for all other visits
Specialist $60 Copay
Emergency and Urgent Care Emergency Room(waived if admitted to hospital) Deductible
Urgent Care Center $100 Copay
Ambulatory Surgical Center Deductible
Outpatient Hospital Facility Deductible
Inpatient Hospital Facility Deductible
Physician Services(all locations) Deductible
Outpatient Diagnostic Services
Independent Clinical Lab(e.g. blood work) $0
Basic Imaging(e.g. x-ray, ultrasound) Deductible
Advanced Imaging(e.g.CT/CAT Scan, MRI, MRA) Deductible
Outpatient Rehabilitation and Habilitation Physical, Speech, Occupational, Cardiac, and Massage Therapy Deductible (35 visit
annual max)
That ain't cheap. Do you know if there are subsidy provisions to help with deductibles for the poor/deadbeats/young people who would otherwise not worry about health insurance? Or are the subsidies only for the premiums?
I found this: if one is below 250% of the poverty line he gets additional subsidies to assist with deductibles! co pays and other out of pocket expenses. So to review, no income verification as much as $6000 per person for premium subsidies and possibly double that for those who qualify for out of pocket expense subsidies.
Larger picture, we buy the poors' food, clothing, dwellings, heating oil, phones, cars, school tuition, we give them additional money in the form of the earned income credit, and now we buy their health insurance. Of course this leads to the 50 year old question of why does anyone bother to work in this country. It also reminds me of a headline I saw today that basically said that today is poor live like the middle class of the 1970s. That may be actually largely true.
Larger picture, we buy the poors’ food, clothing, dwellings...........
Not to mention 50+" flat screen TV's, X-Box, bling, etc, etc, etc. Where the hell does it end?
I just called CIGNA tonight, we got something from them in the mail about insurance. They told me that we would be put on a callback list and would hear from them in 4-6 weeks when the Obamacare website was functional.
But Obama said Obamacare will stop "fraud, waste and abuse".
Lesse here... former small business owner, living below the poverty line, Republican die-hard... hmm. Sounds like they've created their own Joe the plumber to promote Ocare. I bet the conservative biased media will spend millions to investigate and shred this guy to pieces. MSNBC is gonna eat this clown for lunch.
This article sounds like another one of Quagmire's Administration's sales pitches. More proof how much the media sucks.
I wonder if the person mentioned in the story is a real person as presented .
