Steven Rattner, President Obama’s original Car Czar, has written a new book called Overhaul that says Obama was “out to get” General Motors (GM) and Chrysler. Obama’s decisions, Rattner says, were political, not economic.
Here are the highlights (or lowlights, if you prefer) from the Huffington Post:
- When Obama was told of the plan to pay GM CEO Rick Wagoner a $7.1 million severance package after Obama ordered that he be sacked, Rattner writes: “Suddenly I felt that I was indeed in the presence of a community organizer…”
- Rattner describes presidential political adviser David Axelrod coming to car meetings armed with poll data to support the takeover and Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel identify Congressmen in whose districts large Chrysler facilities were located.
- ”[Obama’s economic team] veered dangerously close to having the government take control of the two most troubled banks, Bank of America and Citigroup.”
- ”If his team had linked arms with the outgoing administration, as President Bush’s advisers had proposed, billions of dollars could well have been saved.”
- Rattner says Chief of Staff Rahm Emanual dictated Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner’s schedule, public appearances and staff selections.
- He says Obama economic advisers Larry Summers and Austan Goolsbee and FDIC Chair Sheila Bair as enemies who slowed down decision making with infighting
- Rattner said Obama was frustrated with the auto companies from the start: “Why can’t they make a Corolla?” he has Obama asking.
We just hope that someone sitting around that big conference room table had the guts to look at the President and said, “They could make a Corolla, Mr. President, but because of the union workforce and idiotic governmental regulations, it would cost twice as much.”

Okay no I'm not either. Is anyone that followed the current administration for any length of time surprised? Everything they do is politically motivated.
You know, if I were a UAW member who works for Ford, I would look to throw the UAW out. The UAW, along with the federal gov't, own Ford's 2 domestic competition, Chrystler & GM. The Ford UAW members should get out, & take their money with them. It's not fair for Ford to be in compitition with GM, Chrystler, the UAW, & the Obama administration.
Just for the record, I drive a Mitsuishi. Great cars that just run.

Rattner's book should have been titled "Overdrive", since that's the gear that Obama & Co have been stuck in while driving the country over a cliff.
I predict there will be quite a few staffers who, after witnessing Obama and Emmanuel, will be thinking "Man, I gotta right a book about this stuff. But will people believe how f#$*ed up this place is?"

Nice to know we actually "elected" Rahm Emmanuel as President. He clearly makes all the decisions in the White House, not Obama.

First of the guy is obviously racist. No surprise there with him being a "typical white person" and all.
Next I expect he will get audited by the IRS or declared a threat to national security. The FBI may dig up or fabricate something to turn over to the justice department.

And how is this person a racist? Have you witness his racism? Has there been reports of this individual spouting racial epitaphs? I'm curious to know. You spit that word out like it was nothing. Racism is a very serious accusation and just because someone doesn't like another individual who is of a different ethnicity or disapproves of their ideology doesn't not make them racist. ---In fact, I find that the accusation is made simply because you have nothing relevant to say.

Usually any attack (truth) on his Barackness, or any members of the holy court, are attempted to be discredited by the one word. RACIST!! Lee, everyone who is against Obama is racist. The tea party is racist because the don't like where Obama is taking the country. But before the tea party, there was a black guy named Carlos Watson who had his own show on MSNBC for a few months before they yanked him, who claimed "socialism is the new 'N Word". My guess is tha pink slip they handed him was given to him by a racist programming director at MSNBC who has nothing but "guest contributor" spots for black folks.
Everything said & written that has been against Obama has been accused of being racist. If you are black & saying Obama sucks, you are a self hating race traitor/uncle tom/oreo. The fact is, Obama & his team are failures, they have never done anything that has ever created anything for anybody without the gov't taking the money away from people who earned it to give it to people who don't.
