Once again, Rush Limbaugh said it best: “Failure is a resume enhancement for liberals.”
Former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm – one of the worst governors in the history of governors – has proven Limbaugh’s Law to be correct. She’s landed a cushy teaching gig at UC Berkeley, scored a book deal, and signed on as a paid contributor on Meet The Press.

WZZM13.com has the story of her failure with finesse:
Democrat Granholm, 51, also will be a paid contributor to NBC’s “Meet the Press.” …
“I’m very much looking forward to this new chapter in what has been and what will continue to be a very full life,” Granholm was quoted in the article.
She said she and her husband have a two-year appointment at the University of California-Berkeley – her undergraduate alma mater – and this spring will teach there at the Goldman School of Public Policy.
They will teach separate courses in the university’s schools of law, business and public policy.
Their book is planned for publication in September.
… Granholm told Politico.com the classes and her book will share the theme of Michigan as the state hardest hit by the loss of manufacturing jobs, and the lessons it holds.
Granholm left office with low approval ratings, but has said she did all she could to set Michigan on a path to diversify its auto-dependent economy.
She told Politico.com that those efforts are bearing fruit with a falling unemployment rate — from a peak of 14.7% down to 11.7% in December — although she added, “It’s not like things have been fixed.”
“It’s not like things have been fixed.” You may consider that the understatement of the year, but the geniuses at Bezerkeley think of it as that special brand of brilliance necessary to become a professor.

I remember her campaign against Dick DeVos when she kept on telling people that she needs four more years to do all of the wonderful things she was planning and fix the economy. She spent the last four years trying to get us to use solar power in a state covered in snow, and build wind-farms when the hills allow no consistant wind. Meanwhile the economy countinued to suck worse and worse, and we still have some of the highest unemployment. "Jenny No-Jobs" Yep, good name for her.
Can you feature the Bull #*&^ rhetoric her students will spout as they enter the wonderful world of politics and business?
I'd be willing to bet that she never lowers herself to actual teaching. This has payola written all over it.
There's not a governor in the US that has less ambition after leaving their post.
Apparently the new route to federal office is through 'work-free'* professorships, Harvard Law Review Presidents, and department chairs.
If she can just get her academic record sealed and birth certificate lost, she's all in for a run in '12.
* -- scrutiny-free, too, as it were.
...as a consolation, she's better looking than Barry, but I bet they took that picture in 1968.
Amazing.
One of the things that I like about this country... if you are willing to hustle even when you failed in life, there is the opportunity to pursue your happiness in whichever way it manifests itself.
I cannot hate too much here, because it is possible to fail in many ways in life, but then find successes in other parts and overall that is not a bad thing.
The bad thing though is when the failures affected millions of people in negative ways that rewarding a person that was part of the decisions that I find disgusting. That is life, but I dont have to like it.
Nothing succeeds like failure---at least if you're a Democrat. Lead a state to economic disaster and get rewarded with two cushy jobs, a pension and a book deal. Meanwhile, Michigan is just a dwindling figure in Granholm's rear view mirror, its citizens left behind to pick up the pieces.
Seriously, i grew up in Michigan, and as I recall it had some of its highest unemployment during Reagan's administration. Individual governors aside, that state lurches back and forth on the fortunes of the auto industry. I am glad my daddy had the foresight get us out of Detroit when he did. The imminent jump to electric battery manufacturing is a mere band-aid over an exit wound.
Blaming a single governor for a slow train wreck that's taken decades is not only myopic, but betrays a seemingly odd faith in the ability of a single governor to alter the economy. For a website with such absolute faith in completely wild markets, this seems strange. Michigan has probably doled out more in tax-breaks than its made in revenue these past few years, in utter desperation. Tax FREE zones, significant incentives, luring in movie industry and biotech, etc, have all been dwarfed by the shuddering implosion of the Big Three auto companies.
The largest proportion of blame, if it must be assigned, lies in auto industry's product quality, health care & pension burdens, and basic cost & pricing structures -- not in one Democrat gov.
Free market reasons lie at the core of Michigan's decline. This is all well and good, right? It is evolution - compete or die. It is a more attractive notion, if its proponents don't immediately turn around and blame whatever government is in place when things go awry.
History says otherwise. History says that it does matter which political party runs Michigan.
Eight years of Democrat Blanchard, state goes into a tailspin and state government nearly bankrupt. Eight years of Republican Engler and businesses come back and the government balances the budget. Eight years of Democrat Granholm and things are right back to the way Blanchard left them.
This isn't rocket science. Raise taxes and cater to every special interest who asks for money and you will drive business out and bankrupt the government. Lower taxes and stop wasting money and things will improve.
True, true.
I lived there for a while myself -- the problems they've gotten themselves into are what they are because of generations of idiocy on both sides of the fence. It's a damn shame -- I don't want anybody to lack the opportunities that we have.
The only private buisiness in Michigan that has been successful over the last 20-25 years has been the Detroit Red Wings. Other then that, not so much.
I could not be more proud of my home state. First they managed to foist Matt Millen on the world as an expert commentator on professional football even though he ran the Detroit Lions into the sub-basement of the NFL, and now they have given the world the blessing of Jennifer Granholm as an expert on how to govern. Clearly, Michiganders could sell ice to Eskimos.
Now if only they can figure out how to sell the Volt...
Even Jenny has to leave Michigan to find work, thats how well she managed to screw things up when she "blew us away"
She *and* her husband get matching jobs?
Today, class, we will learn the meaning of the word 'sinecure'.
