If this were a boxing match, the referee would have stopped it. If it were a little league game, the mercy rule would have gone into effect. If it were Wisconsin, Stewart would have fled to Illinois.
We love Bret Baier, but we’ve never been that impressed with his assertiveness, but he did himself proud in this interview.

"Fox News’ Bret Baier kicks Jon Stewart’s ass all over Comedy Central"
lulwut?
Credit where credit is due, Stewart's got game. He may not be everyone's cuppa' in his politics, but he can hold his own in crackin' wise and controlling the conversation with anyone you can name. Leno, Letterman, Ferguson and even Stern can't work the setup and delivery, or snap them off as well.
In their own ways and IMHO, Stewart and Carson sit on top of the pile.
Bret Baier kicks Jon Stewart's ass? Someone needs to take it easy on the kool aid.
Bret baier has no credibility for not giving Ron Paul the respect he deserves and the exposure he deserved after Iowa vote and debate. Rolling his eyes and discounting Ron Paul as an extremist and blocking exposure to a worthy candidate is shameful and shows he is part of the media that wants to anoint our front runners.
That may all be true but Paul lost me when he seemed to think that it was okay for Iran to acquire nuclear weapons. That, I think, is when Baier may have rolled his eyes. I know I did.
I must have lost something in the translation because I didn't see what was so funny with Jon Stewart, nor did I see a lot of fight from Bret Baier...what am I missing? Maybe I just don't watch enough TV!
That is exactly what I am saying. There was no "ass kicking" of Stewart by Baier. It was just Stewart mocking Fox and Baier pretending not to acknowledge Stewart. It really is not a good title from IHTM nor a good setup. Baier really just let Stewart mock Fox without responding. If my wildest dreams came true and I were an author for IHTM. I would title this clip:
"Stewart Hangs Fox by Imaginary Rope - Baier Sits Like a Real Big Dope."
But of course that title wouldn't get as many reads mind you.
A whole pile of nothing. IHTM can't win them all.
It was a very awkward segment, indeed. Jon just kept cracking unfunny jokes at Fox and Brett just kept bringing up disputing positions... What did Jon expect him to do?
Stewart has one talent(?). Putting a stupid and dumb look on his face. I dont believe it is a talent since he is stupid and dumb. I think his talent is bj ing his boss. WHo can watch this sphincter?
Your comment is awesome, dude!
Everyone here is attacking Jon Stewart about his past, but no one here seems to be that focused on this actual interview.
Jon owned Bret plain and simple...
I guess everyone sees it their own way.
"...evryone sees it their own way."
I guess you're right OC, they way I saw it Stewart got a good thumping.
But KimmieQueen is right, it's all a big pile of nothing.
If you call playing to his audience, cracking sophomoric jokes, and spewing the standard Fox is not real news mantra “owning” Bret….you are sadly mistaken. From the moment Bret walked on the stage he was under attack by this buffoon who seems to be stuck on somewhere around the Bush mid-term era - would have been real nice to see Bret actually attack back a bit more forcefully - would be nice to see Liberals move on....But I suppose everyone sees and hears what they want to see and hear.
To summuraize, Jon Stweart was
"playing to his audience," - A comedy show audience
"cracking sophomoric jokes" - A host of a comedy show was cracking jokes.
"spewing talking points" - He is a liberal, and a COMEDY show host.
Seeing that it was a COMEDY show, I'd say Jon Stewart won in the funny. Now if Jon would have been on Bret's show and acted like he did I would be saying that he's an idiot. However, the fact remains, that Jon is a comedian trying to be funny, and Bret came onto a comedy show trying to speak to the validity of FOXs reporting, on a COMEDY show. A concept which begs to ask, "If Liberals are just stoned slackers, watching unfunny comedy channel shows,...why does a credible news organization even feel the need to validate itself to that audience."?
It's like two mirrors facing each other. Infinite BS on both sides.
"It’s like two mirrors facing each other. Infinite BS on both sides."
I wholeheartedly agree....Jon was doing what Jon does, Bret was doing what Bret does...no one was "owned".
This is a huge pile of nothing...
I was struck by the obvious lack of "funny" from the host. I quit watching his show back in 2006 when it became nothing more than a 30 minute manifesto of hate and venom punctuated with a laugh track.
Even in this clip, can anybody tell me what the clapping seals are barking at? If uncomfortable laughter is considered comedy these days, my incontinent granddad should have his own show.
