We’ve said it plenty of times. We’re not particularly religious and our main focus here at IHateTheMedia is fiscal conservatism, not social conservatism. That being said, we can’t figure out why Fox rejected an innocuous Super Bowl commercial from a Christian group.
Fox said the commercial was rejected for “advancing particular beliefs or practices.” And that, apparently, is against company policy.
The Fixed Point Foundation’s commercial shows a bunch of guys watching a football game on TV. After a close-up shot shows John 3:16 written on a Tim Tebow-ish player’s eye black, the guys do what we’ve done many times and wonder what it means. Then they take the step we’ve never taken – they look it up.
That’s it. That’s the whole commercial. No overt preaching. No suicide bombings of infidels. No beheadings of non-believers.
By the way, in case you’re wondering, here’s what the verse says:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

A lot of little things ignored, become acceptable with time. Look at Germany. Look at the decrease in quality of American music, art, literature, etc., over the years. Afew things got ignored, and once they were accepted, a few more got added (or subtracted) and then a few more on down the line. When is it enough to stand up and say enough! And then how do you justify ignoring the trend for so long. Just saying.
Ok, I have read all the posts here and it has confirmed my thoughts on the subject. All of you are blind to the fact that the pulling of this commerical, or any others, makes no difference in the long run.
WHO CARES! It's a little blink in time that will be missed about as much as the million other little blinks in time that we never notice because we are too busy trying to get by in the short time we have on this earth. I am not defending FOX, nor am I condeming FOX. The truth is I don't give a tinkers damn what commericals they decide to air during a football game, I have more important things to worry about.
I worry about my parents, who are way up in years now, so I check on them every day to make sure everything is ok around their house and they don't need anything. I worried about my friends and neighbors during the below zero temperatures we had last week. Many of them had problems with frozen water lines, or blown electrical fuses, or tripped breakers, because they had space heaters running to keep warm. Helping my neighbors made more sense than worrying about a television commerical.
And that is one of the problems we have as citizens in this country. Too many worry about the stupid things that have no meaning, no impact on our daily lives in any way, shape or form, instead of worrying about those around us, our family and friends, who are important to us. It's kind of like hoarding the pennys in your life while the dollars are slipping away.
I don't pretend to know the thoughts of God.. But i suspect God'd be just fine with that
Why is anyone surprised that Fox is no different to all the other socialist tv companies? I mean the guy who owns Fox publically supported Tony Blair and was influential in raising his profile here. That is Tony Blair the unapologetic hardcore socialist who promised Britain free healthcare would never be taken away and increased funding year on year for 10 years. This is what Fox believes in. They are the normal elitist scum who think they know best just with different faces. When was the last time you heard a real christian protestant voice on Fox? They are fine with socialists who support free emergency healthcare, they love the jews are constantly looking for ways for us to be taxed to pay for Israel and they portrayed the bailouts as necessary. Don`t be surprised that Fox is un-christian, they are socialists.
I'm not at all surprised at the rejection of God....it's been happening throughout all of time. Funny thing....John 3:16 is probably the single most important and loving message in God's Word, the Bible. The second, (highly paraphrased) Phil 2.
" God held His Son, Jesus, in such regard He gave Him a name aboe ALL others. One day, EVERY knee willl bow and EVERY tongue will confess Jesus to be Lord of ALL." We are to work out our own salvation, with our own free will. Each one of us MUST make a decision. As the commercial says, "Look it up" Each of us is responsible for the decision we make..................
We don't work out anything. Our salvation is a freely given gift from God. We get it by grace, not by merit.

We are saved by the grace of G-d, but in order to bear fruit we "continue to work out (our) salvation with fear and trembling..." as per Phillippians 2:12.
Work OUT not work FOR. We get saved (by grace), we work it OUT in order to bear fruit. I just wanted to put my two cents because you are right, we don't work for our salvation at all, but we are asked to work it out which is different.
Our lives, actions, decisions and behaviour shoould reflect the grace given us. That is the only working out we have to do-to reflect Christ in our lives.
Which is what I said in short. I think we are all in agreement, I just thought there was a misunderstanding from what Beth was saying. What she said was absolutely correct and Biblical. It is the Apostle Paul that says that we must work out our salvation... We don't work for it, we work it out once we have it.

If this were a commercial referring to any other political or religious belief system, they would not have been able to get it on air fast enough. When are Christians going to start standing up for their claimed beliefs?
Because many Christians take the give the other cheek quite literally. Which in a way can be taken literally, but my understanding of what He was saying is that if someone does evil against a person do not seek revenge. I agree that we (Christians) should stand up and talk about what we don't like in spite of opposition, but as you have probably seen whenever Christians do speak up there IS ALWAYS opposition and insults, which in reality are expected, but some people are not necessarily keen to go through it which I guess is understandable, but in my opinion cowardly. I state my piece, here and anywhere and I dont care if people like it or not... time and truth will either prove me right or wrong. Not everyone is like me though.

Slow down and take a breath y'all! Find out who owns at least 30%, if not more, of FOX NEWS and lives in Saudi Arabia and then this assault on Judeo-Christianity will quickly come into crystal clarity.
Also you shouldn't discount Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dorn, Code Pink, The Muslim Brotherhood, and other radicalized socialist Islamic groups!
