Complaints are flooding in about a popular European candy’s new packaging.
The fruit figures on Haribo MAOAM sour candies appear to have been caught in flagrante delicto. In other words, it looks like they’re doing it.
Here’s how London’s Daily Mail reports the sordid story:
Simon Simpkins was buying Haribo MAOAM sour candies for his children when he noticed the “pornographic” illustrations of limes, lemons and cherries romping with each other. Mr Simpkins of West Yorkshire said: “The lemon and lime are locked in what appears to be a carnal encounter.”
“The lime, whom I assume to be the gentleman in this coupling, has a particularly lurid expression on his face,” he said.
He told said: “I demanded to see the shop manager and, during a heated exchange, my wife became quite distressed and had to sit down in the car park.”
A spokesman for Haribo said the “fun” packaging of the sweets was introduced in Germany in 2002 and added: “This jovial MAOAM man is very popular with fans, both young and old.”
The lemon insisted she doesn’t normally do nude scenes, but said the producers assured her that the label would be handled artfully.

all they need is a shot of tequila and some salt
Isn't this the result of drinking? I thought they had each thrown back a few already.
Or, they're turning lemonade into 7-up....
It is really a shame that 'racists' cannot stand to see inner-fruit relationships. If lemons and limes find each other attractive and are both otherwise healthy fruit, then who exactly are they hurting?? And do you really mean to tell me that parents cannot explain the 'supposedly offensive' artwork by saying "It's just like when you saw Mommy and Daddy wrestling"?
Better not let the green M & M see this - she can fly into a rage when she is jealous.
I'll bet the wife was quite distressed because he was making a complete ass of himself.
