Oh, my. How long has it been since we had a global warming lunatic who discovered that that Arctic isn’t nearly as warm as the hype lead him to believe?
The Ski Channel reports the frigid facts:
Tim Smitheringale is perhaps both the bravest and dumbest man we’ve ever encountered. The Australian was on his way to the North Pole, alone, when he fell through an ice sheet. He was close to death when he was miraculously rescued by Canadian soldiers.
His goal? To become the first Australian to reach the North Pole unassisted. He was only 186 miles away when the accident happened. He wrote on his website: “Had a bad fall into the ice today and came very close to the grave.”
The Sydney Morning Herald tells more tingling details:
Last week he almost quit after excruciating frostbite in his fingers and thumbs forced him to call in an emergency rescue.
And finally, OneManEpic.com, Smitheringale’s own website, tells why he launched this doomed mission in the first place:
Part of the reason Tom’s One Man Epic is taking place now is because of the effect that global warming is having on the polar ice caps. Over the past 20 years, scientists have noticed that our world is heating up. As the great polar ice floes melt, sea levels are slowly rising and the huge glaciers are becoming weaker and weaker. Some scientists have even estimated that the polar ice cap will have entirely melted away by 2014!
Turns out Smitheringale was damned lucky the Canadian armed forces were nearby (doing whatever it is the Canadian armed forces do) and responded to his emergency S.O.S. beacon.
Otherwise, he would now be a Smitheringale-sicle.

This clown didnt have to go to the artic to find out how cold it is . All he had to do is go to the mountians outside of SanDiego CALIFORNIA , where on 4/22/10 , It has snowed 6 inches , and still snowing . Even the liberial tree hugging , hockey stick socialist , are realizing , that thier ship has holes in it , and sinking before thier own eyes .
Whether or not you call people names, or reject the *huge* scientific consensus, climate change is still happening. The record snowfalls in California and elsewhere (look at the Southeastern U.S.) make more sense when one considers that the moisture from the demonstrably melting Arctic ice needs to go *somewhere*. This piece in The New York Times the other day (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/26/opinion/26cohen.html) explains this quite nicely.

He went to the pole to prove that it wasn't cold? Or that ice is melting really fast? Did he expect to walk on iceless ground or something? Or was he going to swim the rest of the way? I mean what was the point here?
It is stupid to me. If you believe there is no ice or that ice is no longer as thick as it should be where did he expect to walk on? Why didn't he expect the ice to crack under his feet (which it did anyway)? Did he expect it to be warm and for there to be actual ground for him to walk on? It doesn't make sense. If he believed there is no ice mass anymore or they are receding quickly then why go? It is obvious it would be unsafe if he went and there is no ice to walk on. Or did he wanted to go BEFORE the ice sheets melts completely?
Too bad he did'nt go into a deep freeze, but now we'll see if this Smitheringale clown has learned anything. I would bet against that.
Alright, alright... I'll allow that an average increase of 2 degrees F in the polar regions could be classified as "global warming" when all the alarmists allow that ice is just a frozen at an average of -27 F as it is at -30F.

Did you see the global warming, er, uh, climate change, er, uh, normal spring weather news from Colorado today? Eight inches of the white stuff in the Denver Metro, with 33 inches at Larkspur between Denver and Colorado Springs (which also got snow today).
