The Associated Press put it all in perspective:
The Gusher in the Gulf may have pumped out a lot of oil, but it paled in comparison to the amount of bullshit pumped out by the environmentalists.
While BP’s well dumped 172 million gallons into the Gulf over three months, the muddy Mississippi brings in 198 million gallons of water — replete with urban and farm runoff — every minute. The National Research Council estimates that 41 million gallons a year of oil naturally seep into the Gulf from below.
As Rush said, it was equivalent to spilling a beer in the SuperDome.

The real disaster in the gulf region is dear leader's moratorium, which serves no purpose other than hopefully getting people who'd rather be working on the govt. dole.
I was way ahead of the curve on this one: http://jpattitude.com/100608.php
Excellent! Shame the "media" can't...uh, won't do a little work and find facts like this. It's not likely that they would report them if they knew how to find them.
Hell of an article, JP...
proverbial "mountain out of a molehill"
"equivalent to spilling a beer in the SuperDome" Or finding a blemish on the big toe of Rima Fakih.
It was actually pretty scary watchin' how fast the horror stories were developing while the oil was still gushing. The methane in the gulf was gonna erupt with the force of a nuclear weapon...the oil was gonna consume the Gulf, get in the Gulf Stream and change weather patterns...it would be raining oil in the eastern half of the country...and on, and on, and on...
Most, if not all of those stories were based on next to nothing, and yet they were believed by millions, and reported on by the media. I would LOVE to see some news program do a show comparing that hype to the bullshit that Al Gore's been tryin' to get us to swallow...
