Lane Bryant wanted to run a sexy commercial (the top video) during the family hour (8-9 pm), but ABC and Fox rejected the commercial.
Fox said the commercial could run as is after 9 p.m. or could run with some unspecified edits at the earlier hour. Lane Bryant did the good American thing to do and screamed that they were being discriminated against. The networks is guilty of sizism, they claimed.
Enter the geniuses at HLN.
In an attempt to make Fox look bad, the ratings-challenged network did a report on the dust-up. But instead of running the actual commercial during that report, they unwittingly ran a parody (the bottom video).
Watch closely. The only difference between the two versions are the messages on the actress’ phone.
But it’s that message that turns the parody into true sizism (we can’t believe we’re even using that stupid word. But it seems to work in this instance).
The bottom line? HLN, which tried to make it look like Fox was guilty of “sizism” for rejecting the original commercial, ends up looking guilty of “sizism” by running the parody.
It’s almost zen-like, isn’t it?

to poppajoe49: ABC shows a drama i watch on occasion [one life to live] which airs between 2 and 3pm daily. @ least once each episode, that slutty "victoria's secret" commercial is thrown in our faces! if my friends and i wanted to look @ undernourished women with disproportionately large water balloons shoved under their epidermises, we'd do that to ourselves. it's pathetic!
Funny, HLN us calling it "boobgate" tonight.
I'd sauce Brooke Anderson's McRib. That's all.
Glossary Of Terms in FatSpeak:
"HWP" aka height/weight proportional = With the right lighting and clothes as seen through beer goggles, you can still pull it off.
"Need To Lose A Few" = Is that Kilograms or bushels?
"BBW" = Any number of misleading acronyms e.g. big/beautiful/buxom,busty. Even if you stopped your daily pint of Hagan Daz Creme De Leche, you'd still be fat.
"Rubenesque" = At least the above types could still kick ass on a rugby field. Best way for you to lose a few would be to remove some of your makeup.
"Plus Size" = Despite making Kirstie Alley proud, your caloric intake could feed a small Somali boatload. If your name doesn't begin with "Queen", don't trumpet your heft as some sort of badge of honor.
"Stick Thin" Pejorative used by any of the above in reference to a normal healthy-weighted woman.
CNN, in their own veiled way attacked anyone who doesn't fit the hollywood mold. It is sad that they are so disgusting. The fact that they ran the spoof shows how disgusting they are, and how loathing they are of anything that doesn't fit in with the hollywood ideology. They did it on purpose. Period. They are disgusting. Ted Turner is a douche.
How about a nod to Hardtolive.com, the blog that made the McRib spoof and broke the CNN mishap story? Here's a link.

They are right. If this is too racy for family tv, what about the Victoria's Secret ads? Only diff is that these are plus models, not anorexics. As for the stupid network that ran the fake ad, how stupid can u be? Do you not have producers to check this? Or was it too a slam?
I don't remember a Victoria's Secret ad running before 9 pm though.
I might be wrong, but I don't remember it.
As for her being a plus size model, I am surprised that they are making a big deal out of her size. When I think of plus size models, I think of dress size 44 not 24, the women I regularly see coming out of Wal Mart come to mind!
I think she'd prefer the Baconator.
Open wide for Chunky! Oops... sizism again.
mmmmmmmmmmmm...McRib!!!
