Party time at Fox: Conservative network had more total viewers in 2010 than MSNBC, CNN and HLN combined

Fox News’ total viewers for the year exceeded MSNBC, HLN, and CNN combined. That dominance came primarily at the expense of CNN which lost 29% of its total viewership.

A little decorum is in order, Mr. Murdoch. Please refrain from dancing on your competitors’ graves while the cameras are rolling.

A special message for CNN, MSNBC and HLN

BusinessInsider.com has details of the decimation:

The ratings are out for 2010.

Perhaps not surprisingly Fox News continued its march of dominance through the cablesphere, clocking its second-highest rated year ever in total viewers.

It was also the only news channel to hit the top 10 in cable networks, ranking fourth in Primetime behind USA, ESPN and TNT.

Want some context for that? Fox News’ total viewers for the year exceeded MSNBC, HLN, and CNN combined.

That dominance came primarily at the expense of CNN which lost 29% of its total viewership in 2010 and 34% of its prime time viewers. Yes, you read that right.

MSNBC, meanwhile stayed the course in total day total viewers – it was the only news channel not to drop in that category — but dropped 5% year over year in prime time total viewers and 9% in the prime time demo.

At MSNBC, Keith Olbermann is reportedly figuring out how to staunch the loss of viewers by consulting with the ghost of James Thurber. At CNN, Anderson Cooper knows he’s doomed because he’s starting 2011 by teaming up again with Kathy Griffin to host the annual New Year’s Eve broadcast. And on HLN … well, we really don’t know what’s going on there because like the rest of the American people, we don’t even know what channel they’re on.

HLN shows why it’s the number four news network: Accidentally runs parody version of Lane Bryant ad

In an attempt to make Fox look bad, the ratings-challenged network did a report on the dust-up. But instead of running the actual commercial during that report, they unwittingly ran a parody.

Lane Bryant wanted to run a sexy commercial (the top video) during the family hour (8-9 pm), but ABC and Fox rejected the commercial.

Fox said the commercial could run as is after 9 p.m. or could run with some unspecified edits at the earlier hour. Lane Bryant did the good American thing to do and screamed that they were being discriminated against. The networks is guilty of sizism, they claimed.

Enter the geniuses at HLN.

In an attempt to make Fox look bad, the ratings-challenged network did a report on the dust-up. But instead of running the actual commercial during that report, they unwittingly ran a parody (the bottom video).

Watch closely. The only difference between the two versions are the messages on the actress’ phone.

But it’s that message that turns the parody into true sizism (we can’t believe we’re even using that stupid word. But it seems to work in this instance).

The bottom line? HLN, which tried to make it look like Fox was guilty of “sizism” for rejecting the original commercial, ends up looking guilty of “sizism” by running the parody.

It’s almost zen-like, isn’t it?

Introducing the Hour of Ignorance: Joy Behar gets her own TV show

Joy Behar, the frequently factually-challenged co-host of The View, will be taking over the 9 p.m. time slot on HLN that’s currently home to a repeat of the Lou Dobbs Show.

Hard to believe, but HLN is so desperate for viewers that it’s stealing a page from MSNBC’s playbook by giving an opinionated, but idiotic liberal their own primetime program. This strategy would make more sense if MSNBC were a ratings success, but it’s shedding viewers faster than a snake can shed its skin (No, that was not a Keith Olbermann reference, although we understand why you may have interpreted it that way).

According to the New York Times, “HLN, the opinionated sister channel of CNN, hopes to raise its prime time ratings with the addition of Ms. Behar, who is well known for her comedic and sometimes controversial sensibility.”

The tentatively and cleverly titled “Joy Behar Show” will probably begin in September. She promised it would be “topical and fun.

Fun? Guaranteed it will be a lot more fun if this doofus diva has conservative guests like Ann Coulter or Bill O’Rielly, but as these embedded clips demonstrate, Behar quickly gets in over her head and resorts to name-calling when she’s challenged.

Come to think of it, if she’d just have Ann Coulter on every night, it could be a lot of fun.
