Hollywood teaches New York a lesson on taxes

Why don’t liberals understand that changes in tax policy also cause changes in people’s behavior?

Connecticut, which offers the nation’s heftiest tax incentives, is nearing agreement to bring the production of three syndicated TV shows to the state. “The Steve Wilkos Show” and “The Jerry Springer Show,” which are currently based in Chicago, and “Maury,” which is now produced in New York, are the shows that may make the move.

This is causing panic among other New York productions. Michael Imperioli, Harvey Keitel, and Jason O’Mara stars of TV’s “Life On Mars,” recently joined labor leaders to beg Empire State legislators to extend the state’s TV production tax credits.

No kidding? You mean Hollywood power players would actually abandon New York just to lower their tax burdens by moving production to Connecticut?

The problem with government, to use an old farm analogy, is that it always thinks it can increase milk production by increasing number of milkers instead of increasing the number of cows.
