HuffPo runs up the white flag, predicts Republicans will pick up 60-70 seats

crystal-ball-huffington-post

Woe are they. The oracles at the Huffington Post have peered into their crystal balls and seen the future. And they don’t like what they’re seeing.

During the last 14 days the White House and President Obama have gone on the attack, and their strategy is pretty simple: “Let’s acknowledge the voter anger and make sure it gets funneled toward something else.” Thus we have seen political attacks on just about everyone–and everything–out there. The problem, though, is that voters aren’t angry with Karl Rove, John Boehner, the Chamber of Commerce or even the “undisclosed financing” of elections. Voters are angry about the economy and they have two devastating perceptions of this administration: voters think it is incompetent and that it has overreached over the past two years.

An even bigger problem for the White House is that voters may have already tuned the President out; virtually every possible metric used to evaluate the outcome of the midterm elections suggest a massive GOP victory. So let’s just come out and say it: there is no reason to think that Republicans will do any worse than 1994 (when they picked up 54 seats) and there is plenty of data to suggest that it will, in fact, be a better year for the GOP. Our projection–based on all current available data–is that the GOP will gain between 60 and 70 House seats in November.

Sixty to seventy? We’d say the Huffington Post is starting to sound conservative.

  • Don't buy it...the only reason they wrote this is to make non-liberals feel comfortable in hopes that some will not go out and vote...it is a ploy...a ploy that you would pull with you 5 year old...don't listen to the hype....

    • I don't think they are bluffing. The HuffPost is in the process of replacing the print media section of the MSM. They will replace the NYTimes, Time, Newsweak, & other major papers or columnists. The Daily Beast is doing that as well. HuffPost is leftist, but I also believe that they also want to correct when reporting the news to the extent that they want to be seen as legit.

That said, get your ass out & vote.

  • The fundamentally accepted assertion is that we can purchase a representative of our choice, hundreds of millions of dollars spent to gain a senate seat or governors mansion so they can represent our wishes? This is such nonsense and we have been led down the primrose path in belief that it is necessary! Citizen politicians’ were to be just that, private citizens who for moral and community beliefs took part in the affairs of government, they left their positions, careers and made the sacrifice of their time and knowledge to better the United States and ALL its people, they stepped down following their term/s and went back to the career they left behind, NO retirement, NO special perks for themselves, only Public Service! Now we have professional politicians, through back room deals, power broking, deceit and corruption become millionaires and have the audacity to call it public service. The house and senate are such quagmires’ of self anointed superior thinkers who in fact are nothing more than petty narcissistic, overbearing, power seekers living off the tax payers like some revolting parasite that only continues to grow and mutate to finally kill its host, most these so called leaders should be on trail for sedition, They are career leeches that represent nothing but why we so drastically need term limits and go back to Citizen Politicians.

    • What we need is participation at the primaries. When more hacks like Murkowski start losing their cushy jobs, then we are getting a measure of success.

We also need to remember that when they try to go around the new candidate via temper tantrum write-in that the net effect is a "scorched earth" policy where they hand knowingly the election to the Democrat. We have to campaign HARD against them, and see to it that they NEVER get into office again. I can see no redemption for such a person. If Murkowski, as an example, had backed up and sought another office, claiming that she learned that she was out of touch, but is now back up to speed, then she would deserve support as a class act.
