“I will fly around the world doing good for the environment.” Leonardo DiCaprio: “I’ve done 3 films in 2 years and I’m just worn out. I would like to improve the world a bit.” Not making any more crappy “films” is improvement enough. We should be so lucky: he’s gonna gather his entourage and fly around (on a private plane, no doubt) lecturing us on the benefits of a low consumption, small carbon footprint, resource-lite lifestyle – because that’s just the kind of guy he is… i.e. another reason movies are one of mankind’s worst inventions.

Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages.     Going first class all the way, along with a few dozen publicity agents, make-up artists, hair dressers, photographers, drug suppliers, bimbos and gofers.

  • He's plum tuckered out,3 movies in 2 years.Just think if he had a 8 to 5, 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year job.I worked on motion picture sets back in the 70's,these stars would fly in,work 2 or 3 days 3hrs a day and fly out, over and over.

  • Three movies in two years... that says a great deal about the quality of those movies, but I digress. You know what, Leo has a gift, just like many other actors and actresses, and they entertain us all, most of the time. We can pick and choose which of their movies we want to see, buy a ticket, buy some popcorn and have a nice afternoon/evening at the movies. It's one of the great American past times. But when people like him start to get bored they start to look for other ways to satisfy their lust for attention and because they have agents always on the lookout for the latest and greatest venture that will get them noticed they invariably choose some liberal cause like anything to do with the environment, women's rights, gun control, the gay cause, etc, and so it goes. This is not noteworthy except for the hypocrisy of it all. Hey Leo! Just STFU and make another damn movie.

    I get tired of hearing these clowns whining about being worn out from shooting a movie. Pretending to be be someone else must be sooooooo tiring.

  • Speaking of movies, I just got a Smart Blu-Ray Player and am streaming Netflix.
    Can anyone recommend any movies that won't make me puke?
    I haven't been to the movies more than 5 times in the past 8 years.

      • OK, I just finished watching Atlas Shrugged Part I.
        OMFG!! If this wasn't a forebearance of the Obama Admin and their policies, I don't know what is! I can't wait to see part II, but Netflix isn't streaming that yet.
        I'm now watching "Ayn Rand & the Prophecy of Atlas Shrugged". It's also streamed on Netflix. It's the story of Rand and how she wrote Atlas.
        Although I'm sure the book would be much better than the movie, I don't think I have that kind of time.

    • I just watch an older movie called Fracture. Pretty good if you like police procedurals and can suspend your belief in reality for a couple of hours. Has Anthony Perkins and Ryan Gosling.

        • Hard to help you not knowing your tastes. I like science fiction. Going through the "Twilight Zone" series on Netflix right now. As far as movies, sometimes you do have to dig through a lot of dirt to find that nugget. Instantwatcher helps. The good thing about Netflix is if you don't like something you can stop it and look for something else fairly easy. A lot of that old scifi is pretty cheesy.
