Illinois fails at pension reform… but approves guide horses for Muslims. As the state slides toward bankruptcy because of out-of-control public pensions, it’s nice that lawmakers found the time to cater to a tiny religious minority stuck in a 7th-century time warp where dogs are considered unclean but horses are welcome inside.

Same old story anytime, anywhere (read: everywhere) you have principle-free professional politicians (read: parasites).
Here in NJ, this has been going on for years. Instead of dealing with ridiculous pensions (Ridgefield Park, a town of about 16,000 people, is paying pensions to 4 or 5 retired police chiefs), six-figure unused sick days payouts (Keansburg school official collected $750,000 in unused sick days to go with her six-figure pension), some of the highest taxes in the country, and one of the worst business climates in the US, the legislature debates the naming of a State Dirt (not hyperbole, not a metaphor for anything - they actually debated a bill to name an official State Soil), or banning foie gras.
I thought all the State Unions already had names.
I could help them name the state dirt.
Naming of a state dirt is probably a worthy exercise for some of the pols. They can name it after themselves!
And is it any wonder why Illinois has become a bankrupt shithole? Catering to totalitarian quasi-religions, so they don't have to deal with the real problems facing their state. If they keep burying their heads in the sand, I bet the people practicing the Islamic faith will be happy to stuff it right up their butts.

Number 1. Aggrieved Muslims

Let's face it, these legislatures are safer choosing Number 3.
Well there is legislation that affects the vast majority of people whom the elected officials are suppose to represent, then there is legislation that affects less people than Bill Clinton had sex with. No surprise, the "near-unanimous" vote comes for the latter.
This is representative of politicians. If you're a politician, you feel like a saint after passing this politically correct bull-crap, while the rest of the (working)Americans aren't sure about their future.

And don't forget, "the rest of us" have to endure having a horse in the restaurant while we're eating, or clomping up and down the aisles of the supermarket while we're shopping, or dropping a load of manure in the movie theatre while we're trying to enjoy "The Avengers." That's what this legislation did - businesses must now allow horses into their establishments.
Great point. Can you imagine a smelly horse dropping some road apples right next to you while you are trying to dine in a restaurant? Now if they did this next to mayor Rahmbo's table that would be fine. But I'm sure HE and the other apparatchiks are never exposed to the results of their idiotic legislation.
They should have approved guide donkey's instead of horses, since asses were responsible for the legislation.
Actually, if Illinois voted to replace Quinn and the legislature with miniature horses, that would be an improvement. But remember, this is the state that gave us the king of horseshit hisself, Barack Obama, so improvement there is unlikely.
