Remember that panic-inducing IPCC global warming report? Well, forget it.

polar bear ipcc report

This is going to come as a terrible shock to Al Gore and his band of Gorebots, but that IPCC report – you know, the one that foretold all the horrible consequences of global warming – was mostly hot air.

The Australian, one of the largest newspapers in the land down under, reports on chicanery within the IPCC:

THE UN body that advises governments on climate change failed to make clear how its landmark report on the impact of global warming often presented a worst-case scenario, an investigation has concluded.

A summary report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change on regional impacts focused on the negative consequences of climate change and failed to make clear that there would also be some benefits of rising temperatures.

The report adopted a “one-sided” approach that risked being interpreted as an “alarmist view”.

For example, the IPCC had stated that 60 per cent of the Great Barrier Reef was projected to suffer regular bleaching by 2020 but had failed to make clear that this was the worst projected outcome and the impact might be far smaller.

The wording of a statement on between 3000 and 5000 more heat-related deaths a year in Australian cities had suggested that all of the projected increase would be the result of climate change, whereas most of it would be caused by the rising population and an increase in the number of elderly people.

The report, which underpinned the Copenhagen summit last December, wrongly suggested that climate change was the main reason communities faced severe water shortages and neglected to make clear that population growth was a much bigger factor.

Have at it, global warming lunatics. Remind us again how your cause is just and how you’re doing it for the children.

  • IPCC really stands for Institute for Progressive's Climate Children .... ummm, ummmm, ummmm - sure is hot ... ummm, ummm, ummm

  • Conclusion of the report:

"Our findings do not contradict the main conclusions of the IPCC on impacts,
adaptation and vulnerability related to climate change. There is ample observational evidence of natural systems being influenced by climate change on regional levels. And the negative impacts under unmitigated climate change in the future pose substantial risks to most parts of the world, with risks increasing at higher global average temperatures."

    • And Tipler's conclusion?

"I have to conclude that we don’t even know if there was any warming on Earth in the twentieth century. Notice that I am not saying that there has been no warming, just that the available raw data that I’ve personally been able to check do not show it. Until all the raw temperature data are placed online, so the data can be checked by anybody, a rational person has to suspend belief in global warming, to say nothing of AGW. The official government adjusted data for these sites do show a warming trend. All the warming is in the 'corrections.' Sorry, I don’t buy it. ...There have been calls to silence the 496 scientists on the list. Besides 'climate deniers,’ we have been called 'traitors.'”

Silencing "traitor" scientists doesn't sound like science to me. Sounds more along the lines of politics. And with the UN involved, it has no other path to follow than the political.

  • Let me just say that 50 some years ago, the polar bear population was just over 5,000. Today, there are over 25,000 polar bears. They have very healthy population numbers now.

  • I long ago noticed that the people pushing the global warming agenda (such as cap and trade) rarely have much knowledge of the evidence. This is part of the reason why. The IPCC report was a propaganda document, as are most other reports, stories, articles and papers related to the issue.

  • This kind of analysis needs to be applied to the entire report and then the results should be shouted from the roof tops. Yes, I have gone up on mine and started ranting but my neighbors just ignore me now. At least they no longer call the county hospital for pick up. Perhaps there is a better way, but we do need to get the word out.
