Jimmy Carter and Hardball. Just reading those words is enough to let you know something odd is about to happen.
In this case, the former President told MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, “Ronald Reagan only had less than 51% of the vote, but he won because of a third-party candidate.”
We’re not even quite sure what that means, but since Carter is in the middle of his 30th Annual Carter Presidency Rehabilitation Tour, you knew he’d say something stupid.
For a few years people were saying, “Jimmy Carter is the best former president we’ve ever had.” Now they’re just saying, “Who is that crazy old coot?”

I think Jimmy has been growing alot more then peanuts back on the farm! Maybe he has been dipping into the wacky weed or, at the very least, been drinking a bit too much Jack with his brother Billy. What a goof ball, does he love the limelight so much that he will get in bed with Hamas, Hizbullah and Iran to keep himself relevent? Please Jimmy, fade into the background like you did as president. You love to take credit for the peace plan negotiated between Israel and Egypt but we all know that it was the ingenious diplomatic work that Henry Kissenger did that made that all possible.
Looks like the thumbs down fairy came in here and flagged all of us.
This is a really thoughtful thread. Dimmy Cahtah, had he just gone away quietly, the separation of time would have made him seem less awful. But unfortunately HE'S BAAAACK.
Truth be told, YES! Obomie-the-Commie will be remembered as a worse president than Cahtah. (I honestly don't think Cahtah hated the country, like Obomie does)

Looks like Carters transition from ignorance to senility is going smoothly.
This wont be popular here but for years I actually respected Jimmy Carter. I disagreed with many (most) of his polices, but I had respect for him as a human being.
That all ended when he sat next to Mike More and praised him to any one who would listen at the 2004 Democratic convention. That made it obvious to me that he was so desperate for screen time and to help his part at any cost that any of the morals or character I thought he had were either long gone or never there in the first place.
His actions since then, crying racism over the whole 'You Lie' episode in particular confirm the events of the 2004 election were far from a one time case of poor judgment.
Thatguy, I thought the same thing about Carter. I vehemently disagreed with his policies but, at the time, I considered him an honest, decent and caring man. However, over the last few years he comes across as a bitter man and seemingly unable to understand how Reagan could have kicked his ass in 1980. Sorry for the "ass kick" repeat but I really love typing Reagan kicked his ass. Reagan vs Carter was my first presidential election where I actually voted FOR somebody rather than holding my nose and voting for the least objectionable. Sort of like your first car or first girlfriend - a fond memory.
Carter is an idiot and what he doesn't mention is:
1. Anderson was a REPUBLICAN! Yes, he was a liberal, but he was a Liberal Republican, aka a RINO. He was the John McCain of 1980. The kind of kind of Republican that the media loved. Most of Andersons voters were Republican who thought that Reagan was too conservative and naively listened to the media. Logic (which Carter lacks) dictates that Reagen would have received a significant part of the Anderson votes, without Anderson in the election.
2. Even if Carter got ALL of the Anderson votes, Reagan would have received enough electoral votes to win the election. It would not have been the landslide, but he still would have won.
Either way Jimmy continues to live in his dream world, kinda like the current resident of the WH.
