Letters from Climate Camp

Dear Mom and Dad:

Here I am at Climate Camp 2010 in Australia. Even though it’s summertime and Sydney’s weather is supposed to be like Southern California’s, we’re freezing our asses off because of global climate disruption. Or whatever we’re calling it these days.

Don’t worry, mom and dad. Heavy jackets and blankets will protect us from the night chill. And we know these photos will never get out because our friends in the media will continue protecting us from those gosh darn skeptics.

Strangely enough, that night time chill carried over to the next day. But the global climate disruption was far less severe and far fewer of us had to wear sweatshirts. And heavy jackets. And cover ourselves with blankets.

Mmmmm. Climate Camp 2010 breakfast was scrumptious. We had vegan pancakes, “Mothership” chai, organic coffee and other teas and herbals, all served by a dreamy guy wearing a Che T-shirt.

All food was by donation. We didn’t know if that meant someone had donated it or if we had to donate money to get some. We also didn’t understand if the compost sign in the background was part of the menu. Quite honestly, it was tough to tell the difference.

Yummy. We all lined up early to fill our plates with Climate Camp slop a la carte.

We all learned to install solar panels to save energy. And considering all the gas-guzzling trucks and vans in the background, it looks saving a little energy wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Climate Camp 2010 was even more popular than Climate Camp 2009. Why just look at the crowds gathering at the registration desk.

Here’s where it all happened, the center of Climate Camp 2010. It’s a veritable beehive of activity, isn’t it? See that gas-guzzling utility truck on the left side of the photo? Well, just do like we did and pretend you don’t see it.

Here’s a photo of Rainbow and Earth Mother rubbing mud on the outside of a tree trunk. We’re not sure why they were doing it, but it seems like something they would have done in Avatar, doesn’t it? Just watching them did wonders for our self-esteem.

Ssssh. I took this photo of Princess Gaia and her new digital video camera with my new digital still camera. We know they’re both made by child slave labor in Cambodia, but we won’t tell anyone if you won’t.

All in all, mom and dad, I have to say that Climate Camp 2010 was the greatest experience of my life. I can’t thank you enough for sending me. Now I know what it must have been like when you were hippies, smoking dope and saying things like “Peace, love, happiness” back at Haight Ashbury way back in the 70s.

Love, your daughter,
Moonbeam

  • Uhm... so this is how lower class* of gaia worshippers look like... interesting.

(*by lower class I mean not in any direct political influency position)

  • I don't see any people of color in that crowd of dirty, brain dead hippies. It's a collection of privleged, white, middle class undergraduates and eco-socialists who'd cheerfully let millions of people starve to achieve their Marxist goals.

...and don't get me started on that Che t-shirt wearing ***hole.

  • Moonbeam, I thought you said you were going to hide the decline by posting only pictures of the few attendees who were brave enough to wear shorts and tank tops!

  • it looked like the medical tent at a Dead show! The way I see it, the climate thing is just a way to keep all the counter culture shitbirds busy, to allow them to ignore reality, and have a good place with a bunch of friendlies to dose on acid where someone won't hassle their trips.
I wonder if there is a way to get them all to go to australia?

I can only imagine the smell of them all in that enclosed tent. Must have been like the mens room at the bayonne, NJ truck stop!

    • No, the French couldn't get there because of a massive, historical snow storm fouling up air travel out of Paris.

Like everyone else, I have to comment on the Che t-shirt. Where capitalism prevails, the ecology improves. Only an ideological putz would wear a Che tee if they are as green as these peeps think they are.

  • I'm sure the rechargeable drill, that is being used on the solar panels, was recharged with Unicorn breath and puppy licks.

Also, what is that "Climate Camp slop a la carte" is sitting on top of a poorly adjusted gas (kitten burps?) fire. It should really be a blue flame. That yellow color usually means you're wasting fuel.

    • Bruce... excellent observation about the inefficient fire that gal was cooking over: half as hot and twice as long to cook over.

perlcat, how about we send in some Navy SEALs?

      • That would be humorous if said SEALs could do/say what they want.

Every SEAL I ever met treat asshats like these considerably better than they deserved. If people like these ever got treated the same way they treat members of our armed services, they'd squeal like little girls. The SEALs understand, value, and respect freedom much better than your average lib ever will.

  • My reactions:
These are some of the dirtiest people I've seen and they shouldn't be anywhere near food. When I lived in El Salvador for a couple of years, even the poorest peasant was cleaner and used clean cooking utinsels.

Anyone wearing a Che T-shirt is either broadcasting his complete ignorance that Che was nothing more than a psychopatic torturer and murderer who failed in everything he ever attempted (except executing men, women, and children who disagreed with him), or more likely, he is broadcasting his support psychopatic murderers who execute political prisoners by the thousands. In either case, it's a sure sign of severe mental issues.

When I see these kinds of events, I always wonder why liberals work so hard to make themselves so unattractive.

Thank you for not providing the audio of Climate Camp--it's hard enough looking at the pictures after breakfast.

    • These people soiled my computer. I have never before experienced olfactory discomfort from looking at images on my monitor. How does IHTM do it, getting some super code wizard to actually make malodorous Stinkernet bloggage? I remember the smellovision stories and some gimmicks movie theaters promoted back in the 60s or 70s, but this really worked. The girl standing next to che-man smelled distinkly (!) like dead mackerel I used to see on the shore. I know it was her and not his feet. Without detailing the experience let me just say the stench of feminine hygiene-free putrefied crotch (very similar to the afore mentioned dead fish) cannot be easily confused with general bromhidrosis, or even simple cheese foot, which che-man emitted when looking at him. Amazing work IHTM, simply amazing!
