Perhaps this winter’s massive snow storms have convinced Al Gore to change his mind about global warming and word just hasn’t reach us yet.
Telegraph UK has the story:

In its obsessive desire to promote the virtues of electric cars, the BBC proudly showed us last week how its reporter Brian Milligan was able to drive an electric Mini from London to Edinburgh in a mere four days — with nine stops of up to 10 hours to recharge the batteries (with electricity from fossil fuels).
What the BBC omitted to tell us was that in the 1830s, a stagecoach was able to make the same journey in half the time, with two days and nights of continuous driving. This did require 50 stops to change horses, but each of these took only two minutes, giving a total stopping time of just over an hour and a half.
Al Gore just called to say that he’s very concerned about the stage coach’s carbon hoofprint.

"Pursuing electric cars as the new way to go in transportation is a huge waste of time and resources."When has anything proposed by libtard/progs not been a "huge waste of time and resources."
I read in the news somewhere today that Obongo's latest pipe dream is to spend $53 billion (or some such un-Godly amount) on bullet trains now.
Pursuing electric cars as the new way to go in transportation is a huge waste of time and resources. We need to go towards fuel cell cars which run on hydrogen, the most plentiful fuel in the universe. We can be up and running using fuel cell cars, trucks etc that wouldn't be a joke in 10-15 years if we would get behind it instead of this insane idea of electric/battery cars. You can even have a hydrogen producing unit at your home and fuel up there. To push for electric/battery cars is public policy gone haywire. Refueling would not take hours as it does now to charge a battery. Instead you just make a quick stop at the "gas" station like we do now.
I'm still waiting for the Jet Packs we were promised, dammit!
Right on Wes. I'm waiting for the electric one-ton truck to take the place of my Ford diesel, pulling my giant rocking horses around on an 18' flatbed trailer, then hitching up to my home, which is a 37' fifth wheel RV that weighs in at 17,000 pounds when the horses are inside. Then I probably still won't buy it.
There's an article somewhere comparing the carbon footprint of a Hummer to that of owning a dog. The Hummer won. So, you choose: you can have an electric car and a dog, or a Humvee.
'Course, then there's people like Al Gore who have, what, 10x the amount of carbon footprint a typical person has? Must be fun being a hypocrite.
I live where it gets cold and snow and you need to haul and tow things. Let me know when electric cars come with 4wd and when they put charging stations in "the middle of nowhere." If you live somewhere where you have to be careful what cell phone provider you choose in order to get a signal, I'm thinking electric cars have a ways to go to catch up.
"Catch up" in an understatement. The day it takes 5 minutes to fully charge the batteries, and it can go 400+ miles on one charge, and you can run the heater or the AC without draining the battery is the day electric cars will catch up. Don't see it happening for decades.
Is that Rosie or Oprah getting into the coach?
Judging by the tilt of the coach, and the look of doom on the horses faces, I would say it is Rosie. And, Oprah has too much class to let just anyone grab her ass.
That looks like a guy touching her bum. I sincerely doubt any normal guy will want to touch Rosie's behind... Oprah's perhaps...
I'll pass on both of them.
I hear you.
Because you're a real man...
LOL
For real now, I agree with whiskey that Oprah wouldn't let just anyone touch her behind, but in all sincerity I can see a guy preferring Oprah over Rosie if those were his last choices in the world.
Nice, I'll be sending you my cleaning bill for the coffee that I sprayed on my shirt from laughing.
I think that the eventual plan is to have charging points installed every 50 meters on every British highway, road, or lane, and each charging point to be powered by electricity supplied from a socking great windturbine nearby, thus turning the once green (no, not THAT sort of green!) and pleasant land into acres of windturbine forest.
You will need a charging point every 50 meters to cope with the plethora of vehicles which will require charging at different times, and infinitely dispersed places, when they just stop, out of juice. You need to have a charging point within pushing distance...
Mind you, it'll all take quite a while to install this infrastructure, bearing in mind that only 50-odd electric vehicles were sold in the UK last year.
You can deduce from this, that when the wind doesn't blow, you'll be driving nowhere...
When they make driving prohibitively expensive (which it almost is already), maybe the coach and horse option isn't such a daft one after all - with all the inherent problems THAT idea will bring, there are interesting (if immobile, for most of us) times ahead.
The one difference is that most of you Englanders have access to public transportation of some kind. Those of us that live in the vast regions of the United States do not have that option. I can drive in three directions from my house and not see anything but a cow or antelope for 70 miles. Even going east I can drive 20 miles before I see anything other than another ranch house, or a cow, or an antelope. There are places here in the southwest I can take you that have nothing, not even a house, for over 100 miles.
All this electric car nonsense may work in the big cities where people live like rats in a cage but in the rural parts of our country? No way will it work. Out here we need our cars and trucks to get to town. We need our tractors to till the land, that grows the food, that helps feed the world! Only in China and Russia will you see such wide expanses of uninhabited land. Land that could be used to grow grains and raise cattle, sheep and hogs to feed hundreds of millions of people all around the world. Unfortunately the communist dipwads running China and Russia are blind to the fact that they could be helping humanity and themselves at the same time. And now we have dipwads running our country who are trying to drag us back in time, back to the 20th century when we were not a world power.
What the dipwads do not understand is we Yanks are not sheeple like the folks in China, Russia or even England. When we have had enough we Americans will stand up and kick some ass. Wasn't it Admiral Yamamota that said "I fear all we have done is awaken a sleeping giant" after the bombing of Pearl Harbor? And no truer words were ever spoken. You Englishmen might want to remember them and stand up for yourselves. Ain't nobody going to poke this cat in the ass with a broomstick and get away with it.
