Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is not a physically imposing man. In fact, he’s really not much of a man at all. That’s why we weren’t all that surprised when Wikileaks revealed that the Iranian leader had been smacked up the side of the head by a guy named Mohammed Ali Jafari.
Yeah, you read that right, the guy’s name is Mohammed Ali. File that under weirdly appropriate.
New York Daily News has the blow-by-blow:
The February 2010 cable, classified secret and puckishly headlined, “He Who Got Slapped,” quotes an intelligence source recounting a contentious meeting of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
The Iranian bigs were trying to figure out what to do in the wake of Tehran’s explosive pro-democracy street protests of 2009.
“Ahmadinejad claimed that ‘people feel suffocated,’ and mused that to defuse the situation it may be necessary to allow more personal and social freedoms, including more freedom of the press,” the cable says.
It continues, “Ahmadinejad’s statements infuriated Revolutionary Guard Chief of Staff Mohammed Ali Jafari, who exclaimed ‘You are wrong! [In fact] it is YOU who created this mess! And now you say give more freedom to the press?!’
“Source said that Jafari then slapped Ahmadinejad in the face, causing an uproar.”
Now a lesser despot might have slinked off to lick his wounds in private or, rather, let his favorite goat do that for him. But not our man Mahmoud.
The five foot four inch piker picked himself up. He dusted himself off. And, as soon as the opportunity presented itself, he promptly bitch slapped Barack Obama. Over and over and over again.
Damn, it feels good to be the dictator.

You may say that I am mean or whatever... but the image of Ahmamollaahadadohgvavaoomwhatever being b**ch slapped by someone pleases me... I hope it happened more than once and in front of a lot of people. The man DID say that he wanted Israel to stop existing (in so much words) and he also prays for the advent of their imam who is meant to destroy the infidels and that would include Israel so I got no love for the man.
Ahmadinejad gets dumped on a lot. But I can't find any evidence of him or Iran being much of a threat. He is a non cleric, an engineer, and dedicated to improving his people's lot. In my web searches I find no instances of him threatening Israel, and he is NOT in control of the military. Ali Khameni IS the supreme leader, and issued a fatwa against the production and use of nuclear weapons by Iran. With 60+ nuclear power plants being built all over the world, and by much smaller countries, why is Iran (larger than Italy, UK, Spain, etc.) blocked from having one? Further, Jews serve openly in Iran's Parliament, and Iran hasn't started a war in 200 years! As Colin Powell said "We're running out of countries to attack." So, who benefits from a war with Iran, and possible allies, like Syria, France, China and Russia?
It's their sabre rattling and rhetoric that gives us the jitters. Ahmadinejad was the go to guy for the Iranians during the Hostage debacle of 1977/78/79. This guy Mohammed Ali Jafari hated his guts back then; thought he was too much of a westerner. I'm not surprised that Jafari struck Ahmadinejad publicly, it's akin to throwing down the gontlet. A political infighting duel is about to transpire here and I wouldn't be surprised if you hear news out of Iran that one or the other of the two was killed in an unfortunate car accident, or hunting accident, or some such. Happens all the time. Besides Bob, whatever you do, don't believe everything you read in the newspapers, or you see on MSNBC.

Thanks hisham, but I rely on very little domestic media news. Most of my searches are done via the web, and foreign news outlets. All I've come up with are false translations attributed to Ahmadinejad. I've yet to find one real threat against the Israelis. While no Arab countries are comfortable with the Zionist regime, Iran has never threatened them. And once again, if you study the Democratic Republic of Iran's political structure, you'll see that the President is NOT ABLE to start a war if he wanted to. Khamenei could, but this reliqious leader would not rescind his own fatwa, as it would go against the Quran. Going back to Eisenhower, who strongly warned of undue influence of the Mil/Ind complex, we find that our arms producers have a huge stake in these ongoing wars.
When you do the REAL math, you'll find about $1.2 trillion going to arms.
Much is hidden in "foreign aid" packages, whereby we covertly pay rent for our military bases. Warplane production is spread out over 40 or more States, so our elected officials won't vote against jobs in their districts. If you Google "defense budgets", you'll see that any two of our allies can outspend any potential enemy. These ongoing wars kill and injure our soldiers, and hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians. With 43 million Americans on food stamps (1 in 7), how can we tolerate this cost? BTW, I'm an army veteran, no dove, but this warmongering is insane and immoral!
Methinks the fact that you refer to Israel as "the Zionist regime" tells us everything we need to know.
The Zionist Regime is how the Arabs in the Middle East refer to the Israeli leadership. It's not my term.
