Michael Sam out. Not out of the closet this time – out of the NFL because the St. Louis Rams cut him. As expected. That hissing sound you hear is the air going out of the LGBT community.

      Wow....

      So, he is another Obama. We are giving him the Peace Prize on the PROMISE that he will bring peace into the world, not because he actually has done anything nor even has a plan to get us into peace mode. The bastard Obama actually kept the thing and the money as well.

      So Michael "The Gay Football Guy" Sam is being given a job on the PROMISE that he may come in and learn to hone and refine his skills, even though he doesn't have the skills now and he is not ready to play at the level needed at all...

      • I didn't realize the NFL was an affirmative action employer. I thought you had to have the talent and skills to actually make the team.
        Since this is the case, I think I'll demand to be signed to a practice squad and if they tell me no, I'll file an age discrimination lawsuit!

        • Wrong. Who you hump and how you hump is of no interest to me, unless you are exploiting someone. This clown wanted, and received, all sorts of attention due to his unnecessary and unwanted proclamations. He is like the guy who only wants sex with a midget. By announcing this preference he thinks he liberating himself and any other similarly situated person so he and all others can feel accepted. I accept the fact that our private lives should remain private. If you have an Anthony Weiner problem where you MUST thrust your proclivities into the public domain, then the public will be forced to react. Small wonder the reaction may not be positive, especially when it only serves to separate and divide. STFU.

          • Besides everything I just said, another reason for "coming out" is for other homosexuals to feel comfortable to come out. It's more like bringing awareness to the issue. It is by no surprise that American support for homosexuals and gay marriage has been increasing with the increasing public awareness of homosexuals.

          • It isn't awareness. People have been aware of gays forever. What is different today is we have a well organized agitation machine that has successfully combined witch hunt-like tactics for those who oppose the gay agenda, a marginalization of religion and the actual definition of marriage, left wing indoctrination in the education system, and activist judges who decide that anti-gay marriage laws are unconstitutional despite the fact the Constitution is silent on marriage.

          • The misunderstandings of homosexuals still exist in our culture such as: it is a choice, they are immoral, etc. In the majority of states, it is perfectly legal for an employer not to hire someone based upon their sexual orientation.

            Suicide rates are still quite high for gay teens. While I personally do believe being gay is normal I at least expect christians to show more love and compassion towards gays.

          • Compassion and love does not equal acceptance. Even with true tolerance, ppl dont have to accept it as normal. Ppl can still express their secular and religious point of view in the manner when it is against it. Also considering that for the most part, Christians ARE truly tolerant of gays not sure what you mean.

            If you go to Iran and try to live freely as a gay man you will die a rather painful and humiliating death. You will be imprisoned in other Islamic and African/Islamists countries and in other Islamist countries fined, imprisoned and dead still.

            Such actions arent normal nor acceptable here not by any true Christian denomination. In fact, at the establishment of gay marriage many Christian denomination like the Episcopal Church RUSHED to change their charters to accomodate gays AND there have been many gay/lesbian pastors in that and other denominations so again... what are you talking about?

            I have already stated the it is perfect legal for an employer in many states not to hire someone based on their "sexual orientation". So tell me, can you say that all homosexuals have the chance to live the American dream in the midwest knowing that they may not be hired because they are gay?

            2. There is no place I have ever worked where they asked if I was gay, and there is no spot on an employment application that asks that either.
            3. I haven't met an unemployed gay person here in Florida, and I know quite a few.

          • Most gays don't need protection of this sort in the South or anywhere else in the US. I live in the South and you have no idea what you're talking about. Usually when one is in a hole they stop digging. Not you though. You have sticktoitaveness going for you.

            It is not legal for employers to discriminate based on sexual orientation. I have no idea what you are talking about. That people CHOOSE to discriminate is an entirely different situation. Not sure how you can prove that people are discriminating against you for being gay or black or female unless something is actually in writing or said. A lot is trying to get in the mind of people which is dangerous.

            It is not right to be discriminated against, but it is not legal nor okay in established society.

            I believe that this an issue about at will work and it has more to do with that than with actual discrimination in my opinion.

          • Why did you say the Midwest? Are you suggesting people there are less enlightened? Seems bigoted to me.

            Considering gays by and large are better off financially than their straight neighbors, I'd say you have a pretty good straw man going there.

          • That's a pretty broad statement to make, do you have any reference that shows this is legal? Maybe a link to state law? I'm pretty sure this isn't actually the case.

          • What about it do you think is normal? It's not natural, or gays would be able to procreate without outside assistance. If it were normal, we wouldn't have so many people wanting to vomit when they see depictions of it. That reaction is normal, because it's involuntary.

          • So by your logic those who are sterile are not natural since they can't procreate?

            To be fair, many people felt disgusted when they saw interracial couples back in the 50s. It's our culture that makes it seem "unnautral".

          • It was about the fact that they believed that the color of skin determined inferiority and they were afraid that the inferior race/color of skin would pollute the superior race/color of skin. That is racism and ignorance. There is no inferiority in the DNA of any one group of people. There is no "pollution". Since all people are human beings, regardless of the color of their skin, they can mate with other human beings with other skin colors just fine without there being any "pollution" or denigration of the human race.

            Also and most importantly in my opinion... "Being Black" (as an example) IS NOT a lifestyle choice nor a situation that one can change at will (unless you are Michael Jackson the freak) nor is it a behavior and it is definitely not something that people CAN or SHOULD participate in in order to tolerate it.

            A white person does not have to choose to be Black or live the life of a Black person, nor even accept the Black person IN their lives, in order to tolerate a Black person.

          • Now you're just being stupid. Gay couples that are 100% fertile cannot procreate without outside help. Sterility is a medical condition that prevents pregnancy, gay is not a medical condition.
            It’s our culture that makes it seem “unnautral”.

            Rape, incest, torture, gang beatings, etc, are also found in nature, too, but that doesn’t make those things okay (or legal) either.

          • By definition it isn't normal since best estimate is only three percent of us are gay. That said, I don't give a damn about what one does in private with another consenting adult. What I do have problems with is the idea that marriage is some fungible commodity. It isn't. If two people of the same sex want to merge their assets and establish a formal living arrangement I'm okay with that but that's a civil union not a marriage.

            I'm not particularly religious so I don't introduce that component into the debate. I prefer people keep their private stuff private and coming out is nothing more than attention seeking behavior. If one is gay and loves another guy then fine. Just don't make a big deal out of it. It's not a compassion deficit that some have toward gays, its a fed up with the activism surplus, IMO.

          • I agree with mostly everything you said. However I would like to point out that marriage is not strictly a religious practice. Marriage has existed in many other cultures before the spread of christianity. It was a way to manage the finances of two individuals who share love with one another.

            I personally don't mind too much about gay rights since the populous is slowly starting to wake up and realize that it is fine. The younger generation has realized this so it makes sense for there to be a greater acceptance of homosexuals over time.

            There is the word... acceptance. Homosexuals (and the like) wanted tolerance which is fine to want because tolerance prevents people from destroying life and property of those that are different...

            However acceptance is a completely different ballgame. Acceptance means that I have to give up my beliefs in order to ACCEPT the beliefs of others as my own. As a human being with my own belief systems, I can tolerate homosexuals and the like without having to accept their lifestyle choices as equal and the same as my own. Not to say that I am better, but to say that I prefer my lifestyle choices over theirs and as such I do not accept them as equal to my own. Since gays have a problem accepting my lifestyle choices then we are both EQUALS and we should both TOLERATE one another and that should be the end of it.

            Asking for acceptance is what is causing people around the country to loose their rights by being FORCED to participate in the lifestyle choices of others whose lifestyles they dont agree with for whatever reason and that is wrong.

            Marriage was essentially strictly a religious/cultural/community practice. It really and truly became infringed (in my opinion) by governmental forces very recently in human history. Mainly by people wanting tax incentives (the trojan horse) and also because many women and children were being shafted by abusers of the patriarchal societies around the world and they ran to the government for resolution of conflicts (that is understandable).

            also, if gay marriage is so immoral and marriage is a religious thing than how come people are allowed to get a divorce when infidelity is NOT involved? Jesus makes in clear in the Gospels that a couple should only get a divorce if one cheats on another.

          • And you know what? I think that society in general will be BETTER (coming from a religious and a secular point of view in my part) if heterosexuals stopped with the nasty overtly sexual behavior as well.

            I don't need to see an heterosexual pair swapping spit on the street just like I definetely don't need to see two lesbians nor gays nor whatever doing it either.

            I believe that EVERYONE should not make a big deal of their sexual activities/status. Madonna would have been just as talented (perhaps it can be up for discussion) if she had kept her sexuality and fantasies to herself and the same I say of Miley Cyrus and whoever else is out there.

        Imagine what it is like to be a football player on the cusp of starting an NFL career, hoping against hope that you will at least make someone's practice squad so you can prove yourself, and as you sit at home waiting for the phone to ring you learn that the NFL is calling teams and asking them to sign some OTHER player, but not you.

        • If he didn't openly talk about who he is as a person then the social conservatives would accuse him of being ashamed. That's what social conservatives don't understand about homosexuality. Many of them feel the need to come out because they tired of being afraid to admit who they are and they are tired of being accused of being ashamed.

          The world is not fair. LEGAL immigrants get the shaft, we have to pay tons of money and wait tons of years to do things correctly. Jose or Josefa salta cerca (fence jumper) gets in with the kiddies in some cases and get to stay and the kiddies go to school on our dime. Perfect...

          So many many examples of these injustices. I am reading Bastiat. The man knew what he was talking about. When true justice is substituted by injustice masquerading as justice we are all in the sh*t.

  • Enough heart to overcome his lack of speed? Nope. Enough skill to compensate for his size? Nope. The only reason there's any outrage over Michael Sam's being cut is because he identifies as a homosexual. That's not enough reason to play in the NFL.

    Why do his supporters not understand that? Cut out all the fluff about the side story and his inability to excel is all that this is about.

    • Why do they not understand that Obama's skin color isn't why he's hated? Clearly these people have no ability to collect information, collate it into reasonable form, and draw reasonable conclusions. I don't get it. How do the remember to breathe?

  • How many other drafted players have now been cut from the team? Where is the outrage? Where is the 24hr news feed? Very few football players actually make into the NFL. And even those who do, can't guarantee they will have a long career or even stay with the same team. Pop Warner hotshots can't make it in high school. High school etars falter in College. And MOST college players will not make the NFL. Regardless of gender identity, skin color, racial combination. So this guy, along with a zillion others, didn't make it. So what? I am so tired of "equality" meaning the victims want more breaks than anyone else.

  • Men of IHTM explain to me why it was expected that he got cut... I don't understand as I dont really give a crap about the NFL.

    • There are armies of men who make their living analyzing college football players, some for the fans and some for the NFL teams to they can decide who to draft. Many players are good college players because their attitude and work ethic is good, but they just don't have the speed and/or size to make it in the NFL. This is especially true for quarterbacks, who fail regularly after being drafted (even Heisman Trophy winners), but it's also true for defensive players because NFL defensive players are massive and fast. Sam is neither massive nor fast. According to those aforementioned expert analysts, he was undersized and, even more devastating to his chances, a tad slow. You can be small but fast and find a niche, or you can be slow but gigantic and still find a niche, but you can't be slow and small.

    • Because he wasn't really good enough to make it in the NFL. He was only drafted because everyone was afraid of being sued for discrimination against gays, so he was drafted, and when he failed to make it, he was cut, and can't say anything because he was given a chance and couldn't prove himself.

      • He was once a "big fish" in a little pond. Excelling in a loser conference doesn't translate to greatness in the big league. He simply got beat out by a no-name who was better than him. Now he will lose his boyfriend (who will take his cupcakes with him as well). No more Ram a-damna ding-dong for him........

          Sam got cut because he was drafted by a team who already has a very strong D-Line. Westbrook did outplay him, I agree. He may get signed somewhere else despite being a bit undersized but I don't think there is a future in the NFL for him.

      • You put that excellently. Legally, he had to be given an opportunity to excel and he didn't meet muster. Like I said earlier, he can try out for WOMEN'S ARENA FOOTBALL. They would love beating him down. Those TD don't bother me.

  • Historically getting down on your knees was a good career move with a shot at making it in the big time. No casting couch in the NFL, except for cheerleaders...

    • There are still a few openings on the women's ARENA FOOTBALL teams. Women aren't offended around girlyboys. Besides, most of them could probably kick his ass.

  • Maybe if he had gotten on national TV with one of the owners and kissed, hugged and shared a hot pink cupcake together things would've worked out a little better. Personally, I could give a sh*t less. Who cares, other than the closet queens? Oh, and obama. The ambassador of the homogenized.

  • Michael Sam is a decent player, who is a decent pass rusher, but there are guys who do that who are also better at other aspects of the game. He will probably find another gig with a team that needs some depth on their defensive line. Now being picked by the Rams was a good thing for him in this way, he played his college ball at Missouri, which is in Columbia. About a 2 hour drive from St.Louis. So fans of the Tigers already knew about Sam before he came out. So it wasn't as big a story in Missouri as it was nationally. The downside is that he was drafted by the Rams, who have a well stocked defense. It was a bad fit from that standpoint. Another club will take a chance on the guy, & if he can play, he'll stick around. If not, who knows...
