Holy Moly! Just wait ‘til the radical Muslims see the Mohammed Image Archive

Muhammad image

Our Everybody Draw Al Gore Day competition is spreading across the internet. It has more than 5,400 7,300 Google references now. We don’t know if we’ll actually get any entries, but we’ll get some laughs.

Of course, our idea is a parody of Seattle artist Molly Norris’ brilliant “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day.” But Norris quickly canceled that Allah image event out of fatwah phobia.

Fear not, Molly. The Mohammed Image Archive makes our little contests look like…well…little contests. It has archived hundreds, maybe thousands of images and pictures of the Muslim prophet. And at last report, the curator is still enjoying good health.

ZombieTime.com illustrates the story:

The Mohammed Image Archive is a compendium of images that depict Mohammed (the 7th-century founder of Islam), spanning all historical periods, cultures and genres.

The inspiration for this Archive came from the global controversy over the publication of Mohammed cartoons in the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten, and the need for a comprehensive and even-handed look at the wide variety of Mohammed depictions in Islamic and Western societies from the Middle Ages until today. It will remain online as a resource for those interested in freedom of expression.

This website has Mohammed drawings galore. So many, in fact, that they are divvied up into categories like Islamic Depictions of Mohammed in Full, Islamic Depictions of Mohammed with Face Hidden, European Medieval and Renaissance Images, Dante’s Inferno, Book Covers, Satirical Modern Cartoons, The Jyllands-Posten Cartoons, and our personal favorite, Extreme Mohammed. Allah images, Muhammad pictures, it’s got it all.

Holy friggin’ fatwah.

  • Olivia:"I would NOT choose abortion for myself"

Yet another veiled admission that there's something bad and wrong with abortion. That's getting to be quite a list. Let's review.

    1.)"I'm not defending abortion"
2.)"I would NOT choose abortion for myself"
3.)"I ... (do not) defend other women's private choices related to their pregnancies"

Would you say: I'm not defending tooth extraction? Or: I would not choose tooth extraction for myself? Or: I do not defend other people's private dental decisions? Of course not. There's nothing wrong with having a tooth removed. But you keep expressing repressed moral qualms with abortion because you know it's killing. But why such moral qualms about a "potential" human being?

I'm sorry if I said "dentist". I meant to say: A doctor who performs teeth procedures.

Olivia:"it's impossible for a woman to get a legal abortion without the assistance of a licensed physician"

You mean like Dr.Gosnell of Philadelphia?

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/41154527/ns/us_news-crime_and_courts/

  • Olivia:"Mommy Government policies ... adequte health care"

Non sequiturs which ignore the vast problem of women suffering mentally after their abortions by changing the subject. What else is new?

  • To FormerlyDeanH:
Your last post made it obvious that there is some personal vendetta harboring within you directed towards Muslims. Just because you do not approve of your neighbors and that they happen to be Muslims does not make the Islam religion bad. It is also a strong possibility that some Muslims behave the way they are due to their culture. In the middle east where many extremists live you have to realize that their weak form of government also attributes to their ridiculous beliefs. After all Christianity was definitely not a perfect religion. Look at the crusades and the protestant reformation. Now Christianity has turned around because I believe that the tainted form of government of the past no longer exists.

Sometimes I believe democracy in America helped battle those who corrupted Christianity.

Also you mention that there is a part in the Koran that Muhammad says to ignore what he said previously ( the abrogation ). Which part of the Koran does he say this? I am quite curious.

  • Olivia, whatever non sequiturs you go into about "smoking" and "social boundaries" you've now twice in a veiled way admitted that abortion is bad and wrong. I just want to know why you think it's bad and wrong? Why would it be bad and wrong to kill a "potential" human being?

    • Actually, a fetus is a human being, since the definition of human being is a member of the Homo species, particularly of the Sapien sub species.

    • Olivia to poppajoe:”your widdle feelings are hurt because American women are getting abortions”

The feelings of literally millions of American women are hurt after their abortions, Olivia, but we know you don’t care about them. You’re as heartless to them as you are to their dead babies.

      http://www.abortionfacts.com/reardon/post_abortion_syndrome_character.asp
      ****************************
Gosh, Lion, I thought you far righters were AGAINST Mommy Government policies. Now you're saying you want abortion to be illegal, because women aren't smart enough to understand the consequences of their actions, and need Big Brother to protect them from their own folly?

I guess it hasn't occurred to you that it's impossible for a woman to get a legal abortion without the assistance of a licensed physician....and that licensed physicians know a LOT more than you do about clinical depression, and which patients are at risk for it?

Keep floundering. You know as well as I do that "But women can get hurt!" is merely an excuse for your stance here. If you were really concerned about the well being of women (and particularly that of poor women, for whom bringing another child into the world would be a serious economic hardship), you wouldn't be fighting so hard to deny them access to adequate health care.

  • Olivia:"I'm not defending abortion"

Why do you not want to defend abortion, Olivia?

Olivia:"I don't like the habit (smoking)"

So you're comparing abortion to a habit you don't like.

Olivia:"I ... (do not) defend other women's private choices related to their pregnancies"

A second veiled admission that abortion is bad and wrong.

    • Olivia:”I … (do not) defend other women’s private choices related to their pregnancies”

A second veiled admission that abortion is bad and wrong.

      **************************
Not at all. It's called "healthy social boundaries." Which I've noticed that a lot of angry far righters (including yourself) lack.

      • It’s called “healthy social boundaries.”

Translation: I just refuse to answer the question because I have no point.

        • It’s called “healthy social boundaries.”

Translation: I just refuse to answer the question because I have no point.
          ****************
Wrong as usual, PJ. I've already answered your questions at least twenty times. Continuing to badger me, in hopes that my answers might somehow change, is both pointless and stupid.

          • Translation: I've stated countless times that it is none of your business and since the SCOTUS contorted the 9th and 14th Amendments to legalize abortion women are free to have them on demand as a matter of convenience. If you don't like it, then too bad.

  • Maxwell:"You conservatives actually seem like you are always angry."

Olivia insulting me today:"You're a little slow on the uptake, aren't you ... I've even tried dumbing it down to the point that a five year old could understand ...you're too dumb to pose much of a political threat to thinking people ... flaunt your ignorance ... reactionaries"

Olivia insulting poppajoe and FormerlyDean today:"Ignorant Redneck Bigot"

Maxwell, you don't have to answer of course, but do you think Olivia is a calm person? Do you not think she constantly violates her principle of not engaging in name-calling, childish insults, and stereotyping?

    • I have never met Olivia in person therefore I cannot say for certain if she is calm. However I have seen some insults previously made by sidekick that were aimed at her son. poppajoe49 has directed the word "b****" at Olivia at least a couple of times. To me it seems the arguments made by several others in this thread fall within the classification of ad hominem.

Also do you think that maybe Olivia feels like all of you are "ganging up" on her?

      • Maxwell, Olivia brings this on herself. She has a condecending attitude, and pokes snide comments at people. I had told her that if she were to continue calling people "my boy" that I would call her "my bitch". The ball was in her court, and she just couldn't be civil.

        • Maxwell, Olivia brings this on herself. She has a condecending attitude, and pokes snide comments at people. I had told her that if she were to continue calling people “my boy” that I would call her “my bitch”. The ball was in her court, and she just couldn’t be civil.
          ************************
Translation: "But she keeps being (sob, blubber) MEAN to me! She called me "my boy,' an' everybody know that that's worse than any dirty word I could come up with, right? Besides, it's only us right wing extremists who are allowed to call names and insult others! Why won't she play by our rules?"

Sorry, PJ. If you want me to be "civil" to you, I expect you to model the desired behavior yourself. Keep on calling names, making false accusations and flinging juvenile insults, and chances are you're going to get back what you dish out.

          (Talk about being thin skinned......)

          • Talk about being thin skinned

If you think I'm thin skinned, it just shows how thick headed you are. It's not the words, it's the attitude. If you didn't come off so condecending and nasty, we would debate with you much nicer.
Don't believe it? ask your pal Maxwell, or just read the debates with him. He's civil, and amazingly enough, we are civil to him.
            Try it some time.

      • Maxwell:"maybe Olivia feels like all of you are 'ganging up' on her"

If a liberal comes to a conservative website, they should expect to be challenged. If they don't want to be challenged they should confine themselves to the 90% of the media where conservatives aren't allowed to challenge liberals.

Olivia:"the crowd was testing Jesus, exactly as you're trying to test me right now. In other words, they were trying to catch Him in an inconsistency."

You have the nerve to bring up in the same breath your defense of child killing and Jesus being merciful to the woman caught in adultery?

It's so difficult to catch someone in an "inconsistency" who says in one sentence we shouldn't insult or name call while the next sentence is "Ignorant", "Redneck", "Bigot", "dumb", and "idiots".

        • Olivia:”the crowd was testing Jesus, exactly as you’re trying to test me right now. In other words, they were trying to catch Him in an inconsistency.”

You have the nerve to bring up in the same breath your defense of child killing and Jesus being merciful to the woman caught in adultery?

          ***************
And, as usual, the concrete thinker totally misses the point of the analogy.

If you were part of that crowd, Lion, you'd be accusing Jesus of being "pro adultery." What that crowd was trying to do to Jesus is exactly what you and your antichoice crowd are trying to do to me: back me into a corner and try to use my personal feelings about abortion as a legal statement, which they could then use as a weapon against me.

Jesus refused to play their game. I refuse to play yours.

Does that mean that I'm immoral? Absolutely not. I don't believe in having a government that legislates morality, because who's to define which "morality" is the correct one, and which are a violation of individuals' rights?

Does it mean that I'm antichoice, but don't want to admit it? No. I believe women are better qualified than nosy rabble to make decisions about their own pregnancies.

Does it mean that I'm "pro abortion"? No. I've explained many times, that I would NOT choose abortion for myself (although who knows what anyone might do, if desperate enough?), but that doesn't mean that no one else should have that option, just because I wouldn't want it for myself.

Again, you've repeatedly failed to explain why you think that YOU are a better judge than the woman herself to make decisions pertaining to her pregnancy----and better equipped than the physician she chooses to determine whether her wish to terminate a pregnancy is appropriate or valid.

          • I don’t believe in having a government that legislates morality, because who’s to define which “morality” is the correct one, and which are a violation of individuals’ rights?
            *******************************************************
So, if I don't think it's wrong to steal and kill to survive because my sense of morality dictates that we are just animals with the will to survive, I am fine in your eyes? Animalism is a type of morality, believing that we are just animals with no soul.

I mean, realistically, let's say I have a huge scar on my face, one arm, and a psychiatric disorder. I'm pretty much a pirate. I have to survive somehow right? So I decide I will begin thieving from rich people's homes. One day, the family walks in on me. Due to my animalist morality, I see this as encroachment, and I murder the family with my hands.

Still think government shouldn't dictate morality?

          • But if we live in an amoral world, then we are free to pursue our own self interests with no worries of being judged or feelings of guilt. That is the progressive utopia.

      • You know, Olivia's behavior is very similar to that in the "Rex Kramer, Danger Seeker" skit from KFM -- and if she can't figure out why the results she gets are predictable, and if you can't either, then there's something wrong with the social skills.

        Just sayin'

      • Maxwell, if you want to be Olivia's wingman that's great. I think that you are newer to this board than I am. I have seen Olivia condescend and insult every regular poster. If she can dish it but can't take it then too bad. As far as us ganging up on her, give me a break. This is a conservative board and all are welcome but if one comes in here and starts hurling pejoratives about conservative views on politics, religion, economics, and liberalism in general and then proceeds to bring weak ill-informed arguments and flat out lies to the discussion, then one can expect a verbal thrashing in response. If she can handle the give and take, then she doesn't need your "help"

          • I've mentioned this before; I'll mention it again.

Ethically, this is like saying that a murderer who is afraid of getting a blood-borne disease from his victims should be given safety equipment -- after all, he's going to murder -- might as well be "safe" while doing it.

If you consider a fetus to be human life and find it unethical to kill it for matters of convenience, arguments for the safety of the murderers are ludicrous. The numbers of these murders per year are insane. To put some of these things into perspective, LeRoy Carhart's career total is around 1.5 Josef Mengeles, and he kills at the rate of 100 Jeffrey Dahmers per year.

If you do not feel that killing something that is
            a) alive
            b) human
is unethical, then I guess you might as well help them do it safely. Me, I'd rather do what I can to provide these young women with better alternatives, such as readily available birth control, and adoptive services.

          • I agree. I support birth control and adoptive services as well. I also support the awareness of safe sex through sexual education. You will be surprise on how many people don't even know how to use a condom. Its pretty shocky.

There are some studies though that suggest death by abortions will rise once abortion is made illegal. How do we know that those women desiring abortions will all just get them done illegally? In that sense making abortions illegal will not only continue to have more dead fetuses but will also accumulate more dead mothers/women. Again this is difficult to predict but the only way to be certain about this prediction is to make abortions illegal.

The difference with abortions is that is not seen as murderer by many individuals which will only benefit the black market behind illegal abortions.

I am not sure if this has already been brought up but what on your thoughts on having abortions due to rape, incest or severe health concerns?

          • This is a complex issue. Can't solve it on a bumper sticker. I think that before an abortion is done, all other options have to be exhausted -- just like before taking a loved one off the respirator, you owe it to them to make every effort to do whatever you can to help.

For example, in the case of rape, you have to remember that yes, the female in the equation did not ask to be placed in this situation, but neither did the child that is growing inside her. I think the whole thing has to be approached with compassion and understanding. I'm not going to come down with absolutes -- but I would say that she needs to be treated with respect and compassion.

The only absolute here is the man that put her there is scum, and ought to bear the entire financial burden.

          • There are some studies though that suggest death by abortions will rise once abortion is made illegal.

When was the last time abortion was illegal in the US?
Don't you people realize that they don't do them with bent coat hangers any more? Even an illegal abortion clinic will have equipment modern enough to be safe.

As I've said before, I'm not 100% against abortion, but I do want to see more comprehensive information available to the women seeking one. I also think that it should not be a substitute for birth control methods.

    • Maxwell, you don’t have to answer of course, but do you think Olivia is a calm person? Do you not think she constantly violates her principle of not engaging in name-calling, childish insults, and stereotyping?
      **********************
I'm quite calm, thank you, Lion. It's just that, when I see two grown men flaunting anti-Muslim bigotry like a badge of honor, I'm inclined to speak up about it. ;)

If they can't handle that, there's a simple solution: act lke grownups instead of idiots. They made their choice; and I made mine accordingly. Why is that so disturbing to you?

      • Olivia claiming to have a sense of humor is funny. Irony is funny sometimes.
        *******************
But I do have a sense of humor, Kick. Perhaps it's over your head, though. I've noticed that you don't seem to understand any jokes that aren't stale putdowns of whichever social, ethnic or political group the far right is being told to hate at the moment. ;)

        • Thanks for clearing that up, Olivia. I stand corrected, you're hilarious. BTW, The only putdowns you've seen me post here are aimed at liberals and or their stupid policies and worldview. Please cut and paste a racist comment I've made at any ethnic demographic. If you do find one, then I will be the first to admit I was wrong. When you fail to find one, I'll expect you to retract your comment.

        • But I do have a sense of humor, Kick.

Yea, and Caligula was just trying to exercise his right to free speech.

    • Olivia:”I’m not defending abortion”

Why do you not want to defend abortion, Olivia?
      ***********************
For the same reason I don't defend smoking. I don't smoke; I don't like the habit; but I would never try to pass laws preventing others from smoking, just because I don't want to do it myself.

You really are a bit thick, aren't you? You truly can't comprehend why anyone would defend someone else's right to do something unless s/he wanted to do it herself, can you?

  • You know what is funny, Olivia? I have personally met Dean and Poppajoe and they are a long long long way from what you seem to think. See, people (read: liberals) like you have no sense of humor. People like you are always angry. Yours seems to be a dry and barren life. Everything is negative in your posts. No optimism whatsoever. I don’t pity you because people who think like you are a drain on the rest of us.
    *********************
Wrong again, my boy. I have a great sense of humor----so good, in fact, that I know the difference between genuine wit, and poorly disguised hostility. (As does anyone of reasonable intelligence who ever attended middle school.)

As for your evaluation of the two posters in question: I can only go by how they choose to present themselves on this forum. And, unfortunately for you, they chose to present themselves here as spiteful and passive-aggressive bigots.

If you have a problem with that, take it up with them, not me.

  • I have my shopping list for Porkmadan ready for the grocery tomorrow.

Are you going to use a smoker? That really gets the flavor out there for all to enjoy!
    *****************
You can always count on Poppajoe and ex-Dean to do everything they can to personify that Ignorant Redneck Bigot stereotype.

Then they whine and cry when people judge them accordingly.

      • Talk about bias rhetoric. You conservatives actually seem like you are always angry. After all the name of this website surely illustrates the deep rooted pessimism that lies within you guys. Not too mention 95 percent of the insults from this article has come form you guys especially you.

        Oh the irony.

    • Interesting observation, since neither of us are from "redneck" states, we just prefer the weather in Florida to that of where we came from, both blue states by the way!

Irrelevant. One doesn't have to come from a particular state to have poor judgment or a narrow outlook. Those products are peddled 24/7 on the internet, right wing talk radio, and FAUX News. ;)
