Of course, regular readers of IHateTheMedia.com are well aware that everything – absolutely everything – is racist. So it should come as no surprise to learn that coal-fired power plants fall into that vile category, too.
The Holland, Michigan Sentinel reports the latest in leftist outrage:
A new national report to be released by the NAACP Saturday gives Holland’s James De Young coal-fired plant a environmental justice grade of ‘F.’
The report analyzes toxic emissions and demographic factors including race, income and population density to calculate “environmental justice scores” for the nation’s 431 coal-fired power plants which are “significantly harmful to low-income communities and communities of color.”
Detroit’s River Rouge Power Plant is ranked as ninth-most harmful in the nation.
Other failing plants include Eckert (Lansing); B.C. Cobb (Muskegon); Monroe (Monroe); Trenton Channel (Trenton) and Presque Isle (Marquette).
Regular IHTM reader Paden alerted us to this story and said, “The Sierra club has been fighting Holland city for two years to stop the expansion of the power plant. Holland has one group of liberals who won’t allow a new plant and another flock of libs saying the currant plant is racist.”
Environmental justice. A phrase in which neither word is accurate, but the left buys it anyway. Generally with your money.

Here's the scam: some blowhard "activist" organization like the NAACP or Greenpeace or NOW or whatever needs to drum up some donations and attention (which leads to donations) so they concoct some silly pile of sh*t like "coal power is bad for blacks" or "everybody that's not Al Gore who flies a private jet is killing polar bears" or some drivel. The media picks it up and runs with it because a) they suck b) they probably believe the drivel and c) they suck. So a whole bunch of suckers and saps dig into their checkbooks and join "the fight against whatever stupid shit is being fought against" and then they "feel good about themselves" for a few minutes and the blowhard activist organization collects a bunch of money and buys new limos for the head blowhards. And that's what it's all about.

And the government takes more power. Let's not forget the important stuff.
The GOVT wants to control all aspects of our lives. They are making their moves and using societal issues to achieve it.

Even if reperations were awarded from the decendents of slave masters there wouldn't be much money. The big imigration waves were not slave owners.

Ok, the government will identify the descendents of slave owners and slave traders and award what the NPV of an average slave was given their age, strenth and sex plus the geometric average of treasury note interest from 1865 to today compounded over the same period. However, the costs of property crime caused by blacks plus the cost of their incarceration compounded over the same period will be deducted. if the number is negative, the NAACP memers are responsible for paying that amount to the US treasury so that it may be distributed to tax-payers.

Well, you all realize that if the plant were to shut down, that would be EVEN MORE racist. It would leave minorities(specifically poor minorities---nobody else, since apparently the emissions from this plant dont affect anybody else.. ) without power and unable to fend for themselves. The government would HAVE to come in and take control of the plant since they are so great at managing things..
The chances are HIGH that the NAACP are NOT speaking for the actual people that live there. If anything this is a tool in the hands of progressives wanting to phase out coal and put green energy in its place. Instead of being all bugged down by the stupidity of their efforts, we nmeed to look at what stands behind this. This is not I am very sure the populations' fault this is the fault of the Progressive agenda.

Of course, the poor, regardless of color, will be the hardest hit when the power eventually does come from a clean source. They won't be able to afford it. But that's where subsidized power bills come in, isn't it?

I'm sorry this makes Trolivia grind her teeth, but perhaps the locals could hold a bond issue to build a cleaner power plant. Yeah, work with the local power company and find a solution instead of sitting back and waiting for the guv-ment to solve all their problems. Oh wait, that would involve something besides watching tv and accepting yet another guvment hand out, and that makes the liberals VERY angry when poor people show any self reliance.
jwilson.... you are a tool in the hands of the Progressives. You are exactly what they expect of the conservative movement. They hoped that people like you will believe that the organization is actually speaking in behalf of the people in the neighborhoods.
I can bet that most of the people, if not all, that actually LIVE in the area have no idea what is going on, nor have they asked these organizations to speak on their behalf. If anything most of the people in the black community are working for the plant or are benefiting because of the plant (restaurants, etc) one way or another. If some get duped into believing that the org have the best for them in mind, that is what it is, but this is not common nor usual and to continue to propagate the myth that all people are in it for the welfare is disgusting.
We need to see what the other hand is doing, instead of continuing to be marred by the overuse and misuse of racism, perhaps you should inform yourself of the REAL reasons behind these moves. It is to get rid of cheap energy resources to move the green crap into these communities. They can use the poor communities to work at it for a while for no real money, then phase it out and move the jobs overseas. Just like they did with the green (mercury filled) light bulbs.
Stop the racist crap and fight the real problem. Don't allow yourself to be a tool in the hands of Progressives and to continue to be blinded by your discrimination. I can assure you if the situation was reversed and it is whites who were discriminated against and this was a white poor community and the organization was for the advancement of white people, you would understand like I do, that this is not about them because they are white, nor is it about their rights, nor is it about the actual members of the community wanting this... it is about control and money and about using anything in order to get it and as long as they are real racists out there that want to be part of the conservative movement, there will always be liberals who know how to push your buttons and to make you look at this hand while the other hands robs us of our freedoms.
With the lunacy form the NAACP I am surprised they didn't use the argument that coal is black, power plants burn black coal, therefore they're racist.
Maybe they didn't want anyone to come to the obvious concusion about what to subsititue the coal with.

We have allowed racist organizations like the naacp and la raza to fester and have even given them our hard earned tax monies. Is it any surprise to see them pull this same kind of shit over and over?
Frankly I'm shocked that they're shocked, insulted that they're insulted, and sick and tired or their tired and sick BS. There's another bureaucracy candidate for extinction and when conservatives have veto proof majorities they can get to work on pulling the NAACP's teeth!

People will eventually find that even if the plant is racist (which I don't understand) - that they will enjoy air conditioning, refrigeration, TV and the Web even if the power for these items comes from a nefarious source!
