Latest lunacy from the NAACP: Coal-fired power plants are racist

It should come as no surprise to our readers to learn that coal-fired power plants fall into that vile category, too.

Of course, regular readers of IHateTheMedia.com are well aware that everything – absolutely everything – is racist. So it should come as no surprise to learn that coal-fired power plants fall into that vile category, too.

The Holland, Michigan Sentinel reports the latest in leftist outrage:

holland-michigan-power-plant
Oh, for god's sake. The NAACP says this coal-fired power plant in Holland, Michigan is raaaacist

A new national report to be released by the NAACP Saturday gives Holland’s James De Young coal-fired plant a environmental justice grade of ‘F.’

The report analyzes toxic emissions and demographic factors including race, income and population density to calculate “environmental justice scores” for the nation’s 431 coal-fired power plants which are “significantly harmful to low-income communities and communities of color.”

Detroit’s River Rouge Power Plant is ranked as ninth-most harmful in the nation.

Other failing plants include Eckert (Lansing); B.C. Cobb (Muskegon); Monroe (Monroe); Trenton Channel (Trenton) and Presque Isle (Marquette).

Regular IHTM reader Paden alerted us to this story and said, “The Sierra club has been fighting Holland city for two years to stop the expansion of the power plant. Holland has one group of liberals who won’t allow a new plant and another flock of libs saying the currant plant is racist.”

Environmental justice. A phrase in which neither word is accurate, but the left buys it anyway. Generally with your money.

White ain’t right: NAACP under fire for advertising in white newspapers only

Maybe this is just what happens when you elect a black guy who’s whiter than most white people as President of the NAACP.

Maybe this is just what happens when you elect a black guy who’s whiter than most white people as President of the NAACP.

NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous admits that “a grave mistake was made” right under his nose when advertising inserts were placed only in White newspapers on the eve of the organization’s annual image awards, which aired March 4. Danny Bakewell, chairman of the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA), a federation of more than 200 Black-owned newspapers, is demanding justice.

Ben Jealous, the whitest black man in history, is President of the NAACP

“If the NAACP desires to advertise with the White press, they need to understand and experience the repercussions of going outside of their ‘house’ (The Black Press). The NAACP needs to know that by ignoring the Black Press they are ‘cutting off their nose to spite their face,’” Bakewell said in a March 7 letter to NNPA publishers, obtained by the Trice Edney News Wire. “We have marched side by side with them and been their voice in the African American community. It is truly disheartening to be on the battlefield with someone and not be able to share in the spoils.”

Share in the spoils? Let’s go to freedictionary.com to see if “spoils” means what we think it means:

a. Goods or property seized from a victim after a conflict, especially after a military victory.
b. Incidental benefits reaped by a winner, especially political patronage enjoyed by a successful party or candidate.

Yup, that’s what we thought it meant. We’re just surprised that Bakewell admits publicly that the NAACP is all about reaping benefits from political patronage.

So much for the old kid’s riddle, “What’s black and white and read all over?”

Now, thanks to the wonders of 21st century race relations, we discover newspapers are either black or white, but not both.

20 white people who are darker than NAACP President Ben Jealous

Does color really matter any more when America’s first black president was white and its second black president is half white and the president of the NAACP is whiter than most white people and 50% of America’s white people apparently spend 50% their time in tanning salons trying to get darker?

Here’s a question for you. Does the National Association for the Advancement of Color People still serve any real purpose?

Does color really matter any more when America’s first black president was white and its second black president is half white and the president of the NAACP is whiter than most white people and 50% of America’s white people apparently spend 50% their time in tanning salons trying to get darker?

Ben Jealous, President of the NAACP, is as white as – you’ll pardon the expression – a sheet. He looks like he should be President of the National Association for the Advancement of Sort of Vaguely Colored People. Get thee to a tanning salon and don’t worry about Obama’s new 10% tanning tax, Ben, because your pasty pallor and lack of melanin must be wreaking havoc with your street cred.

On one hand, it looks like Benjamin could use a little more time in a tanning salon. And these celebrities, on the other hand,  look like they could use a little less. Because something just doesn’t compute when a bunch of white people are darker than the President of the NAACP.

1. Former Florida Governor Charlie Crist. Darker than Ben Jealous.

2. Sometimes actor George Hamilton. Darker than Ben Jealous.

Governor of Maine tells NAACP to kiss his butt. Hey, get in line, Gov.

You’re going to wish Paul LePage was governor of your state instead of Maine. He’s never been known for being reticent and certainly wasn’t on Thursday when he said exactly what we’ve all wanted to say once or twice.

Paul LePage
Racist Maine Governor Paul LePage and his racist family (please ignore the son on the right)

WCSH6.com has details of the pucker heard ‘round the world:

While attending a meeting for business leaders in Sanford, Governor Paul LePage spoke out about why he would not attend Martin Luther King ceremonies on the upcoming holiday.

LePage has declined invitations from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). The organization has already expressed its displeasure with the governor’s plans to not attend the events.

“They are a special interest. End of story…and I’m not going to be held hostage by special interests. And if they want, they can look at my family picture. My son happens to be black, so they can do whatever they’d like about it,” said LePage.

LePage has an adopted son who is from Jamaica.

When LePage was asked if his non-participation is more than one instance, and rather a pattern, he replied, “Tell ’em to kiss my butt. If they want to play the race card, come to dinner and my son will talk to them.”

Who among us hasn’t heard about some new nonsense from the NAACP and thought, “Kiss my butt.” Except, we must admit, “butt” has never been our word of choice.

Racist government official tells the NAACP that she discriminates against white people

The NAACP calls the Tea Party racist. Then they turn around and have a black racist speak at their 20th Annual Freedom Fund banquet. Definitely a case of the pot calling the kettle black, as it were.

UPDATE: Was Shirley Sherrod railroaded? Was the tape unfairly edited? She’s now been fired and is lashing out at the White House, the USDA, Fox News and Andrew Breitbart. We’ve added some information to the bottom of the story, and Breitbart’s response as well.

The NAACP calls the Tea Party racist. Then they turn around and have a black racist speak at their 20th Annual Freedom Fund banquet. Definitely a case of the pot calling the kettle black, as it were.

“He had to come to me for help,” said Shirley Sherrod, George State Director of Rural Development for the USDA. “What he didn’t know while he was taking all that time trying to show me he was superior to me was I was trying to decide just how much help I was going to give him,” she said. “I was struggling with the fact that so many black people have lost their farmland and here I was faced with having to help a white person save their land — so I didn’t give him the full force of what I could do. I did enough.”

Got that? She discriminated against farmers because they were white.

The statement itself is shocking enough. But what’s even worse is that the audience – members of an organization that’s raison d’etre is supposedly to support equal rights – didn’t object. Didn’t react. Didn’t boo. Didn’t hiss. Didn’t seem to object at all.

Of course, a firestorm erupted after BigGovernment.com made the video public and Sherrod has now been forced to “resign.”

But the once proud NAACP, which warmly greeted anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan and put out the welcome mat for America-hating Marxist Jeremiah Wright, has lost the ability to call itself an equal rights organization.

(Read all of our Shirley Sherrod stories, and we have a lot of them.)

Hilary Shelton, Senior Vice President for Advocacy for the NAACP, seems to have a little trouble with the truth. Especially when he’s discussing that raaaaacist Tea Party.

On July 13, he said he’s never been to a Tea Party because he was “afraid to go”.

On July 16, he said he attended the ObamaCare Tea Party rally, you know, just to monitor things.

President of NAACP says he didn’t call Tea Party racist, video says otherwise

What we have here is a basic contradiction between what NAACP President Ben Jealous said on Thursday and what he said earlier in the week. Damn inconvenient videos.

What we have here is a basic contradiction between what NAACP President Ben Jealous said on Thursday and what he said earlier in the week. Damn inconvenient videos.

Politico reports his Thursday comments:

NAACP President Ben Jealous said Thursday that the resolution passed by the group on Wednesday does not call the tea party “racist.”

No?

A portion of the resolution does indeed characterize the behavior as “racist,” but Jealous said Thursday during an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that the resolution was not intended to condemn the entire movement as such.

“We aren’t saying that the tea party is racist,” Jealous said. “What we’re saying is that with their increasing power comes an increasing responsibility to act responsibly…and to call out when they see those things on those signs.”

And furthermore:

Asked if he thought members of the tea party are racially insensitive, Jealous responded: “No, not at all.”

Of course, this is a little hard to square with the video clip above in which Jealous says the Tea Party is a direct descendent of white supremacist groups.

But never let it be said that Jealous let truth get in the way of a good line of bullshit.

Don’t just play the race card, give one.

Far be it from us to make generalizations, but based on the latest actions of the NAACP, one can only conclude that black skin is also very thin skin. The organization has forced Hallmark to pull of those talking graduation cards. They claimed it was racist.

Far be it from us to make generalizations, but based on the latest actions of the NAACP, one can only conclude that black skin is also very thin skin.

The organization has forced Hallmark to pull of those talking graduation cards. They claimed it was raaaaacist.

Hallmark was baffled by the complaint. They said the card’s theme was the solar system and was meant to emphasize the graduates’s ability to take on the universe, even something as powerful as black holes.

“The intent here is to say that this graduate is not afraid of anything,” explained Hallmark spokesman Steve Doyal.

“And you black holes, you are so ominous,” the speaking card said. “Watch your back.”

“That was very demeaning to African American women,” intoned Leon Jenkins, a spokesman for the Los Angeles NAACP. “When it made reference to African American women as whores and at the end, it says ‘watch your back,’”.

“You hear the ‘r’ in there. ‘Whores,’ not, ‘holes.’ The ‘r’ is in there,” said Minnie Hatley, another Los Angeles NAACP rep.

“It sounds like a group of children laughing and joking about blackness, again,” said yet another paranoid NAACP member.

Naturally, Hallmark gave in and is pulling the card from all its stores.

Is it just us or is this vaguely reminiscent of the incident a few years ago when a school official got in trouble for using the world niggardly and the incident more recently when black groups complained that the day after <s>Christmas</s> Thanksgiving was referred to as Black Friday.

Lunacy. Absolute lunacy.

Black business leader calls Barbara Boxer condescending and racial

Black Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Harry Alford accuses the dimwitted Senator Boxer of making condescending remarks, racial remarks, and was undoubtedly thinking, stupid remarks.

We are shocked, absolutely shocked, that anyone would accuse California Senator Barbara Boxer of being condescending. She doesn’t know the meaning of the word.

No, seriously, we don’t think she knows the meaning of the word. She doesn’t know the meaning of a lot of words.

In this exchange, Black Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Harry Alford accuses the dimwitted Senator Boxer of making condescending remarks, racial remarks, and was undoubtedly thinking, stupid remarks.

Can’t really blame Alford. Boxer talks to him as if he got to the hearings on the short bus. He showed her every bit of respect she deserved, which was none.

Boxer looks baffled. But what the hell, she normally looks baffled.

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People shows its true colors

post_cartoonThe NAACP has called for a boycott of the New York Post. In other words, they’ve endorsed censorship.

In a truly bizarre distortion of reality, the organization called the Post’s infamous chimpanzee cartoon “an invitation to assassinate” President Obama.

Benjamin Todd Jealous, the aptly-named president of the NAACP, called for the removal of editor Col Allan and long-time cartoonist Sean Delonas.

Earlier this week, the newspaper apologized to anyone who may have been offended by the cartoon. But the NAACP says the apology was insufficient and called for readers to boycott the Post.

This is like looking at clouds. I look at one and see a cute little bunny. You look at the same cloud and see the violent, Lee Harvey Oswald of chimpanzees.

In the immortal words of Mick Jagger, “Hey, you, get off of my cloud.”
