I can't believe this crap! The Lame Stream Media has out done itself on this one.
Weak job growth? Where should I start? How about EPA regulations. Federal, state and local regulations. Banning drilling for oil both offshore and on land. Refusing to permit building new pipelines and oil refineries. Refusing to allow new nuclear power generating plants to be built. Asinine restrictions on coal fired generating plants which led to more coal mines being shut down. Did I mention the jack-booted thugs at the EPA?
The list goes on and on. Gooberment is to blame for slow job growth and prosperity in our country and has been for years.

Look at how badly we have screwed up other ides for alternate energy. Only this one will be around for some 40.000 years if there is a screw up. And that's only for half of it! The given that people make mistakes and that there ar accidents leads me to feel nuclear is not ourbest option.
Fission reactor failsafes have gotten better in the last few decades. Can't say foolproof but pretty darn near. Problem now is natural gas is so cheap it's hard to gather investors for nuclear. Disclosure: I own URA which I'd like to see go up in the next eleventy years
In the case of nuclear, "foolproof" (or Union idiot proof) is the only acceptable standard. The effects of a screw up are too severe and WAY to long lasting to mess about!
True.. but we got like a hundred reactors online.. with a little hiccup at Three Mile Island. Our record's pretty good. Maybe we can take cue from Navy and park them offshore
And destroiy the ocean when they collapse? No, we are just not ready for nuclear. Too many issues and npot enough answers to "what if." Simply too dangerous in the long run. In the future? Maybe, but not now.
I completely respect your desire for good stewardship of the planet. For example, I do not think it's worth any amount of coal profits to level entire mountain tops. But in the balance of energy security and environment, I think fission is a win, and fusion is such a big prize it's worth 12 figures of new debt
As a rule of thumb (without hurting myself with too much heavy research), I always figured if nuclear was so dangerous wouldn't the French have screwed up big-time by now?

Things were supposed to be smoother than this. No one warned him there is actual WORK to be done as President, unlike "associate law professor" and "community organizer." You can't just delegate everything to the lemmings. Well, you CAN. But it will come back to bite you in the ass.
