  • The article mentioned the Lucid EV, which gets an impressive 400+ per charge. Equally impressive (in a breathtaking perverse sort of way) is the price tag. It starts at $154,000.

    I'll get right on that.

    • LOL. You can buy an awful lot of gasoline for $154,000. Enough to take you back and forth nonstop across the United States for the rest of your life.

  • $33,500 for a car that only goes 70 miles? And if you want AC what do you get? 40 or 50 miles? It's ridiculous. Only a moron would buy that pig in a poke.

    • I seldom drive. I have one car for around town or trips, one for basically off-roading. My wife has a hybrid.
The hybrid does about 28 MPG on the highway, and the one for trips does about 27 MPG on the highway if I keep my foot out of the radiator. (380 HP Twin-Turbo V-6). The hybrid only has an advantage around town or in stop-and-go traffic. If you have the a/c on it doesn't run on the electric motor much.

The one I off-road with has a 220 HP V-8, gets about 10-12 around town. The most I've gotten on the highway was 19 MPG. Usually, it's about 14-17 MPG.

For $35k (or more) I can buy a lot of gasoline, even at today's prices.

      • Plus you don't have to worry about the car suddenly stopping in the middle of the road and telling you it needs new batteries for ten or twenty thousand dollars. I drive a Lincoln Continental that was our primary trip car until we bought something newer and better last year. Now that's our primary trip car. I will keep using the Lincoln until I decide it's no longer worth the trouble. The thing about good old gasoline cars is I know almost exactly how much longer I will get out of that Lincoln. It's not going to suddenly give me a bad day where I need to fork out ten or twenty thousand dollars.
