The situation in Egypt is confusing and the Egyptian people are confused. Very confused. Two recent surveys from Pew highlight exactly what we mean:

…the Pew researchers found that 84 percent of Egyptians favor the death penalty for people who leave the Muslim religion.
In another survey, Pew found that 90 percent of Egyptians say they believe in freedom of religion.
Our interpretation? Egyptians believe you should have the freedom to become a Muslim, but not the freedom to un-become one.

So...
Basically I have the freedom to exercise ALL aspects of the Muslim religion including of course killing others (and myself) in order to propagate the hate, I mean the faith.
BUT...
I "cannot" exercise the freedom to move away from the Muslim religion in order to you know feed hungry people and share the story about the the Lord Jesus or what not.
I see, that is wonderful. I love learning things. Thanks.
Everything I needed to know about Islam I learned on 9/11/2001. Not so much the actions of the few wackos, it's more about the reaction of the rest of the Muslim world.
Sounds like they want Islam to work kinda like our "voluntary" income tax system. If you don't volunteer to pay, you're free to go to prison.
Don't tell Harry Reid that.....
How come Geitner isn't in prison?
Maybe he's a transexual and prison would be too distressing for him.
Apparently part of being a Muslim is the ability to keep two completely contradictory ideas in mind and believe both are true. In that respect Muslims would make "good" Democrats.
"In that respect Muslims would make “good” Democrats."
I think that's why O is working so hard to make Egypt the 58th state of the union.
"Indeed, 80 percent of Egyptians place a high value on free speech, 88 percent on an impartial judiciary and 75 percent on "media free from government censorship."
"…the Pew researchers found that 84 percent of Egyptians favor the death penalty for people who leave the Muslim religion.

From this I can only conclude they are like liberals. You can have the freedom of 'their' speech. You can have the freedom of 'their' religion. You can have the freedom to tote the party line. You can have the freedom to use the light bulbs they say to use or the freedom to drive the car they say to drive or the freedom to use the amount of salt they tell you to use or the freedom to.... well it's a long list.
Exactly, now you're gettin' it! Why do you think liberals love them so much? Liberals love muslims like Adolf loved Joseph.
I wonder if Dhimmi Bloomberg is getting excited about the outcome of all the unrest among his beloved muslums.
In the immortal words of Achmed, the dead terrorist " Silence, I kill you!"
Hmmmmm... So lemme see. If we send the man-child over to save the Egyptians, he would have to RE-become a radical muslim, right? Then if he decides he likes the golf courses here, (I didn't say he likes "playing with his putter"...) the Egyptians would dig a 4' hold in the back yard, put him in, and let people heave rocks at him???? Wow, I wonder if we can get A&E (the Aggressive Egyptian Channel) over here!!!
Yes, they want you to have the freedom to un-become a Muslim. You'll just be killed, that's all.
And as hisham said above me: To a Muslim this makes perfect sense.
"Egyptians" (sic., just say muslims here) "believe you should have the freedom to become a Muslim, but not the freedom to un-become one."

Try and understand, to a muslim this makes perfect sense. No pun intended!
