This is a very plausible theory, but what took so long? Just imagine, pressurized jet fuel combined with aluminum shards and oxidized steel from support girders. FormerlyDeanH mentioned "thermite" and mixing aluminum with oxidized iron is exactly that. Crude thermite added to flaming jet fuel equals around 4000 deg. F. Even Rosie O'Fat would agree that fire melts metal at those temps..
My oldest daughter, who is now a chemical engineer, was only a high school student at the time and she proposed that theory at dinner on 9-12-2001.
I hate to say this...and apologies if I'm sounding like a typical conspiracy nut case...but they never found those two black boxes from the airplanes did they. Or did I miss the news story where they did find them?
Is it just me, or is it not enough to watch all of the video of 2 planes hitting the WTC towers & seeing them collapse to understand what happened? I've heard the cockpit audio, & I've heard the cellphone calls from passengers, like Barbara Olson's calls. I have seen the surveillance video of her flight hitting the Pentagon, plus I've heard the audio from the flight that went down in Shanksville, PA. I think I know what happened. A gang of jihadis highjacked 4 planes in the name of Islam & crashed into the WTC, the Pentagon, & the 4th plane never got to where it was going to be redirected to, because those who forced the plane down found out what was going on with the other 3 planes.
Yeah jwilson07, you are sounding like a conspiracy nut case. Consider the Truther's case, & ask yourself these questions...
Truthers say it was a controled demolition of the WTCs, how many people were in the WTC daily? To work, to visit, whatever? Tens of thousands, would'nt they notice if teams of specialists were setting up the WTCs for a demolition? If you have ever watched a builing demolition crew work in a 10 story building on TV, you would understand the logistics that go into that kind of project. So if you were to take down 2 110 story buildings, you would have noticed something going on in those buildings. Also, this was NYC, what union allowed it's members to put the explosive charges into the WTC without being noticed? If they were not union guys, where was the giant rat in front of the building?

I get the fact that people need to believe in conspiracies, JFK, Area 51, the moon landing, & now 9/11. I get that people don't believe what they see, also realize that you will be waaaaaaaay out there when you start "asking questions" in the manner that the 9/11 truthers have been. Also, fire DOES melt steel, hell steel is forged & shaped with use of fire. Fire also would comprimise the structural integity of any metal in a large fire, meaning it softens & loses it's strength. That is how the WTCs collapsed. Building 7 was also damaged, & came down as well.
Do yourself a big favor, & stay away from truther country, at all cost. You are hanging out with Rosie O'Donnell, Jesse Ventura, Charlie Sheen, & Alex Jones. If you want to be in a sanitarium with that crowd, knock yourself out, me, I'm not interested in trutherism.
Hillbilly conspiracy:
Did you see that?
See what?
That chicken just runned off
Yep
No reason, just up and ran off
Had a reason – that fox was chasin it
Weren’t no fox
There was, see them scratches on that post?
Yep
Fox scratches
Yeah, they is fox scratches
Chicken was chased off by that fox what made them scratches
Yep, but how you come to know them scratches weren’t there
Before?
Stands to reason: chicken run off plus fox scratches equals fox chased chicken off – simple math
So that fox really did run that chicken off
Yep
So what you are saying is KFC should'nt run ads on Fox?
At first I thought this was another hare-brained conspiracy theory. I ws pleasantly surprised. This sounds pretty reasonable, especially the idea that a touch of rust makes it worse. Very interesting!
Hey gang, couple quick points:
1st - my first reaction was "Oh sh1t, not another one." Obviously much different from what I expected. Sounds very plausible.
2nd - couple people have mentioned thermite. Good catch. Mythbusters did the Hindenburg if you recall. Interestingly, the article noted "(along with a small quantity of rust, which exacerbates the reaction)". Powdered aluminum and rust is EXACTLY what regular thermite is. (Not quite the Hindenburg paint, but close.) However, thermite, as such, does not explode, it only burns hot enough to melt through nearly anything on earth, possibly including a leftist's skull. Not pickin' a fight with anybody, just making that clear.
The gubs printed, for general consumption back in the 60s, TM 31-201. Specifically titled 'Incendiaries'. Boy Scouts were issued these manuals as a matter of course. This was my introduction to the compounds that would render Thermite.
Mythbusters, the two fellows that run that show anyway, must utilize the vast majority of information from this little book in many of their rather fiery episodes. It is a great read. My first copy was so badly dog eared by the time I started smoking cigarettes it was rendered basically useless. Fortunately, I was able to restock for my library while attending some of the Experimental Aircraft Association flea markets.
I stopped smoking cigarettes (first hand) 12 June 2008.
I'm still liking the theory put forth by David-Wynn: Miller (the self-proclaimed "King of Hawaii" who puts punctuation in his name to avoid paying taxes). He says that over several years, all the furniture in the towers was deviously replaced by furniture made from plastic explosives. This massive, secret task was undertaken by postal employees.
http://screwloosechange.blogspot.com/2008/07/craziest-theory-yet.html
Who can possibly argue with that?
Plastic explosives require a detonator such as blasting caps to set them off, which would also require wiring or a radio transmitter and reciever to get the detonation signal.
Wires would be way too obvious, the radio reciever in the furniture would likely be obvious as well, plus the batteries needed to operate the reciever/set off the blasting caps. But then, conspiracy theorists don't bother with logic.
Are you disagreeing with the "King of Hawaii"? Man! You just don't know what you're up against!
"Who can possibly argue with that?"
You certainly have a point there.
LOL!
Tell Rosie O'Donnell to put that in her bong, too.
Aluminum was also implicated in a theory regarding the Hindenburg disaster. It's been said the balloon was painted with a paint containing a compound of aluminum and some other material which burns like a roman candle once ignited. Hydrogen gas, often blamed for the destruction, being lighter than air would tend to float away from the crippled airship, but the aluminum-based paint, being stuck to it, would have followed it all the way down.
Thermite. Rapidly oxidizing aluminum. Synonymous.
Fascinating, thanks for the info!
