Back in August 2010 Sidney Harman, husband of California Democrat (pardon our redundancy) Congresswoman Jane Harman, bought Newsweek for $1.00. It appears now that he may have overpaid.
New York Magazine tells the tale of journalistic assisted suicide:
Right now if you go to newsweek.com, you’ll see a basic magazine website, updated with content from the print version of the mag and a top navigation bar that directs you to content on its sister site, dailybeast.com. But starting July 19, we hear, newsweek.com will no longer exist. Instead that URL will redirect users to a channel on the Daily Beast site, like its current “politics,” “entertainment,” and “fashion” verticals. The Newsweek channel will still have all the archived magazine content from before (unlike Time, Newsweek puts all of its print content online), and it will be edited and updated once a day to rotate features. Newsweek/Daily Beast editor Tina Brown and Chief Digital Officer Daniel Blackman decided it made the most sense to have all-new non-magazine content appear on the Beast homepage. As it is, that’s how the system has been working for some weeks now, but the death of the newsweek.com URL marks the official end of what was once a fully staffed and hugely trafficked site in its own right.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Newsweek famous for putting Obama's face on the cover over and over again? Now look at where they are.
The sad part is that none of the laid-off employees - or the people who lost a fortune betting on this magazine staying alive - will make the connection between the failure of Liberal ideas and the failure of this magazine.

Both them & Time did that. It got as bad as seeing Kardashians on tabloid rags at the grocery checkout. Just as sleazy in opinion.
It is disgusting that they are making so much money because the girl has a big butt and got screwed on camera by her boyfriend and she sold her body for fame. I agree that using the image of Obama is just as sleazy.
I don't see what the attraction is, IMHO the Kardashian sisters are butt ugly! I can't stand to see their pictures plastered everywhere and that they have so many (un) reality shows.

What's this? Another LIEberal "news" outlet going the way of the dinosaur? How could this be? After all, there are so many liberal sheep out there that they should all have subscriptions.
I blame it on ObamaCare. The doctors are cutting expenses, preparing for shutting down their offices when it kicks in. And we all know that without doctor's waiting rooms, NOBODY would have a subscription. Well, nobody but DB here.
I can't wait for this to happen to Time Magazine, the NY Times, Huffpo and a host of other left leaning cat box liners.
I have a subscription to Time. It's not as bad as you would think. Especially when you subscribe to National Review to even it out.

Being told of the demise of Newsweek brings to mind the quip from the late great Dorothy Parker after she was told Herbert Hoover had just died. "How can you tell?"
Tina Brown is another "career woman" who married an older rich, publishing man. "Old" as in from the Triassic period. For that matter , Andrea Mitchell married old rich Alan Greenspan- so its anybody's guess who makes the other wear the bag over his/her head when they do it. But they married for love not for advancing their careers, right? No wonder they hate Sarah Palin
