Nissan Leaf: The most cloying, annoying commercial ever

Here’s how Nissan USA describes this commercial on its YouTube page:

“Seeing its arctic home melting away, a lone polar bear sets out on a great journey to thank someone who is trying to help.”

Please note that if the commercial had lasted another 30 seconds, we would have seen the starving polar bear’s razor sharp claws eviscerate the unsuspecting Leaf driver, followed by his next door neighbor shooting the bear and mounting its head on the wall of his den.

One other question: If a polar bear can walk all the way from the arctic to suburban America, shouldn’t adapting to a warmer world be a piece of cake in comparison?

  • First off, that bear would look great as a rug in my living room...

Second, maybe this will spur droves of ignorant libtatds to flock to their local zoo and meet their demise in "polar bear embraces".

  • A number of good points in this thread. Guys, they aren't marketing to us. They expect us to go the the fridge for another beer, or go use the john during this time. I don't know how to judge this ad for effectiveness. But I sure bet Nissan does. Here is my question: The Government Motors reVolt goes 40 miles between charges. (And I'll bet that figure is downhill, with the wind pushing it). Does the Grief (oops wait, that's LEAF) have a similarly stupid flaw? I'm guessing not.

    • See I wouldn't mind an electric car if it has the same power a gasoline one does. Same milage (or more) is needed as well. They will never take off until they are decently priced, are good looking, and you can travel 400 miles between having to charge 'em... and the charge doesn't take 8 hours.

They are getting there but ain't there yet.

Don't worry, in 10 or 15 years there will be some reason electric cars screw up the environment, I am sure. Probably make little timmy's dog heart palpitate or something...

      • It takes coal to make electricity.
The environmental wackos didn't think of that.
And it takes oil to make the rubber coating for the extension cord.
The environmental wackos didn't think of that.
Actually, the environmental wackos just don't think....................

        • In San Francisco, they have a whole bunch of electric buses with "zero emissions" bumper stickers. My remaining libtard friends got pissed when I reminded them that the electricity came from a grid with nuclear plants in it -- so in effect, their wonderful bus actually emitted radioactive waste. So I lost a few more libtard friends for saying things to them that were true.

  • I worked at Yellowstone National park for two seasons. People had a tendency to want to treat the wild animals in the park like they were cuddly stuff bears. It was ludicrous really... Every year at least one bear had to be put down because they attacked a human. Of course the human was doing something like putting honey on their children so they could get a picture of the cute bear cub licking it off or getting to close to two bears circling each other...

    You get the idea.

I'm not one to put a humans life over an animals, but man... Some people just aren't really aware of reality.

  • I hate the fact that the polar bear has become a political football. It is a beautiful animal, but lets get something straight. The polar bear is the largest carnavore walking the planet, this animal is a badass killer, just watch it with a seal, blood everywhere, & they end up with a bloody red wreath around their neck. This ad pisses me off because it puts out a false image of polar bears, as did those Coca-Cola Christmas ads. They are not nice, they are not freindly, & I want one to maul the owner of a Smart Car.

    • Yah, but you missed out on the demo memo -- all animals, no matter how brutal/vicious in real life actually are misunderstood Disney-type animals, all bucking up on their hind legs and talking with little helium voices. They all just want to be understood, and all will go on a vegan diet if you ask them nicely.

Kind of reminds me of that libtard that moved up to Alaska to be with the bears, and found out that the average polar bear views libtards as a protein source. I couldn't decide whether to cry or laugh on the last video he made.

Now, me, I prefer to stay the hell away from animals that see meat when they look at me.

      • Yeah, I remember that guy. . . got eaten by a grizzly.. . . . not sure if it was a "mama grizzly". Wish Levi J. would get eaten by a grizzly.
Todd Palin is the all time model of self control - the man deserves an award.
(O.k., he is married to the hottest ex-governor ever - saw her in Missoula, way
        better lookin' in person)

    • ...but I *Like* the coca cola christmas commercials! Maybe there is a Polar bear family out there that have given up their violent ways! They live near Santa and the elf village, drink Coke in ice cold conditions, and help us all to feel warm and fuzzy around Christmas!

...wait I mean holiday-...crap the PC police are knocking at my door. If I don't come back, tell Rosie I love her!

      • You like the Coca-Cola commercials? With SOUTH Pole penguins cavorting with NORTH Pole polar bears? It's so damn dumb it makes my blood pressure rise.

      • While they are cute, I'm not feeling it. I want the polar bear to do what comes naturally, eat the seal.

Full disclosure, at 1 time I worked for Coca-Cola, & it has nothing to do with how I view that ad.

        • The coke ones don't bother me, this one does though. Coke isn't trying to make you think a Polar Bear is a Majestic animal that will be helped if you just buy their product. That is what really gets to me, I think.

I've seen Polar Bears at sea world... Would not want to mess with them at all.

          • Coke commercials are about Santa coming from his homein the North Pole etc so it makes sense that it will include animals that live in the area. So yes I don't have a problem with that.

This commercial is not only stupid but it is also boring.

  • What a nice cuddly monster. Normally he'd bite this clown's head like a pistachio but he's an actorarctic, so he don't bite the head feeds it...

  • The ad totally works. It's aimed at Prius owners who represent a large % of the early LEAF buyers. It's called a "conquest sale". Quit whining and deal with it cave-people.

  • What they don't show is the state wide hunt for a wild polar bear. The bear getting hungry and eating small dogs and animals as well as attacking humans that are in it's way. Or the violence that a bloodies half crazed starving Polar Bear can wreck on a typical suburban neighborhood...

You know once a bear has tasted human, they have to put it down...the old fashioned way. *kla click...BOOOM*

  • I happened to be sitting at a bar eating a bratwurst the first time I saw the commercial, and as the bear swam in the ocean a nincompoop lady down the bar let out a long, "Ohhhhh, that pooooor bear!" The average dope is so brainwashed by the Al Gore-climate-warming crowd they think Polar Bears aren't supposed to swim. HELLO, PEOPLE, THE BEAR IS CONSIDERED A MARINE MAMMAL!
