I gues sine 90% of white kids graduating can't speak proper English, this isn't a big deal! One of the many reasons English should be the default language in America.

How about we teach proper English and insist they use it in the class. Just like Hawaii and the pidgin English, these kids won't be able to obtain decent jobs because no one will be able to communicate with them.

All tongue in cheek BS aside, this is a disservice to these kids. Not learning to communicate in clear, concise English will ensure these kids remain at or below poverty level for the rest of their lives. People judge you the minute you open your mouth. The minute I leave Texas, my accent becomes a liability.
When I travel, to Cali for instance, I consciously try to regulate my Tejas accent. If I were to try communicating with someone and really pile on the accent (like a Dallas- Ft. Worth accent) I would immediately be dismissed as a southern idiot. Talking to the same person using an accent neutral voice will get me a positive reaction. My Sis in law, a UC Bezerk educated lifetime NCal resident, giggles and tells me how cute I sound. Once she got past how I sound, we were able to converse on a mutually respectable level.
Same goes for me when conversing with an African American person. Speak to me in clear, concise English and I will subconciously react to you differently than had you come at me with ebonics. It introduces an unnecessary language barrier. I'm not saying I will immediately dismiss the person as dumb, but it makes me have to "work harder" in the conversation to understand what I'm hearing. It is akin to speaking with a foreigner.
You understand this and can't get Y'all?
Pretty soon, English will only be allowed in the FEMA detention camps.
