Now hold on just a gol’ danged minute. We thought this President was cool, calm and collected. We thought he was a Harvard-educated intellectual, the smartest man who’s ever occupied the Oval Office. We thought he was going to resolve conflict by extending his hand in peace and listening to his adversaries.
Nah, that was last week before the polls started to slip. Now that he’s catching flak for his dazed and confused response to the Gusher in the Gulf, he’s turned tough guy. Kind of like that episode of Star Trek where Kirk turned gangster to deal with a planet run by gangsters.
“I was down there a month ago,” the Hard Ass in Chief said, “before most of these talkin’ heads were even paying attention to the gulf. A month ago I was meetin’ with fishermen down there, standin’ in the rain talking about what a potential crisis this could be. and I don’t sit around just talkin’ to experts because this is a college seminar. We talk to these folks because they potentially have the best answers, so I know whose ass to kick.”
An ass kickin’?
There’s nothing sadder than a Democrat tryin’ to sound like one of those average Americans. Remember John Kerry, that other noted intellectual, sayin’, “Can I get me a huntin’ license here?”
Don’t look now, Mr. President, but the polls are slippin’ again. And phony tough guy talk won’t solve your problem as easily as it solved Captain Kirk’s.

Uh, oh....another rap on John Kerry and Dems sounding tough...question? Who was the last Republican presidential candidate to serve in combat? George W. Bush? Nope. While McCain/Kerry were sloggin' in Nam, Daddy got GW a gig in the Air Guard to protect the shores of Texas against invasion.
Ok, how about VP? Cheney? Nope. Five friggin' deferments for that gutless coward, who'll send anyone other than his family to conduct neo-con operations.
The last Presidential/VP candidates to serve in combat (correct me if wrong): John McCain, John Kerry, Bob Dole, George HW Bush, Bob Kerry, George McGovern, Jack Kennedy (I leave out General Ike--no combat).
That leaves cowards George W and Cheney; Clinton gets a pass 'cause he never pawned himself off as a hawk.
Here's a list of gutless, non-serving, hawk, hypocrite, Republicans: Delay, Hastert, Bohner, Giuliani, Romney, Fred Thompson, Dick Armey, Santorum, Gingrich, McConnell, Ensign, Cornyn.
Medal of Honor: Bob Kerry, Daniel Inouye; Silver Star: John Kerry, McCain; Navy Cross: Jim Webb; Bronze Star: Charlie Rangel, McCain, Chuck Hegel, Bob Dole, Jack Murtha.
Ronald Reagan could not serve due to poor eyesight, but did make movies for the Army;

Bottom Line: Many Dems have fought the real fight, while few current Republicans have served a friggin day in the military; like Cheney and Pat Robertson, they'd find a way to yellow out.

Damn I am really getting old. I cannot for the life of me remember Obama being on the gulf before everyone else. I have this crazy idea that he was TOTALLY OUT OF TOUCH AND SILENT for 2 weeks. Guess I need to increase that dosage of mempry enhances again.
