The First Family has scheduled another getaway. And in order to show their solid support for the people of the Gulf Coast, they’re going to Maine.
The Bangor Daily News reports the holiday hijinks:
The first family will spend next weekend vacationing on Mount Desert Island, according to U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree.
President Barack Obama and his family are scheduled to arrive Friday, July 16, and stay through Sunday, July 18.
Information about where the family would stay and the sights they might take in while visiting Maine was not available Friday night. The visit is a personal family vacation and no public appearances are scheduled, Pingree said.
“What an honor that the Obama family has chosen Maine for vacation when they could have gone anywhere in the country,” she said. “I think the Obamas will really enjoy the quiet woods, beautiful coast, wonderful people and everything else that brings thousands of families here every year.”
The people of the Gulf Coast will surely be happy to note that President Obama is resting up in Maine after a busy schedule of not resting until the damn hole is plugged.

Obama likes vacations. So what?
So, like, the guy is supposed to be running our country!! That's so what!
Uhm so the Presidency equals vacation from the very tiring two years of campaigning when he was supposed to be a congressman and from previous years of being ranted at by Wright and others. Nice.
Why so much focus on Obama's golf outings?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the more time he spends on the links, the less time he spends in office working, which means the less time he gets to brainstorm ideas on how to take my money.
How about we go back to facts instead of opinion. What President took the most holidays out of any Pres in the history of the country? You wall know the answer.
And now to opinion: would you want to holiday in the Gulf Coast? Why should the President? Should he want to holiday anywhere there is a disaster?
I don't know who took the most vacations and holidays during the entirety of his Presidency, however I am sure that Barack is getting up there. He has been on holidays and vacations on average once a month. I don't recall in recent history that happening.
Yes I would want to go to the gulf coast for a vacation if not to endorse and patronize the failing industry at least to show that I freaking care.

On her first trip to the Gulf Coast since the BP oil spill, First Lady Michelle Obama encouraged Americans to consider vacationing on the region’s beaches that have not been directly impacted by oil.
“It is vacation time. Folks are looking for things to do with their kids, and this would be a great opportunity to do a few things — help this community, send a different message about the extent of the spill, and also think long term about how the rest of the country can help this economy and the folks down here,” Mrs. Obama said at the Panama City Welcome Center. …
Mrs. Obama said the word needs to get out to Americans that there are “beautiful beaches” along the Gulf Coast and it’s a great time for families to come down with their kids.
“There are still thousands of miles of beaches that have not been touched by the spill,” the first lady said. “And there are communities that thrive on tourism and on the economic power of beaches that have not been damaged.”
