Obama to motorists: The problem with you is that you don’t give enough money to me

It is said that only two things are certain in life. Those two things are death and taxes. This statement is not entirely true. Any number of Americans don’t pay taxes. We call the majority of those people Obama supporters.

To make things a bit more fair the Obama Administration has started looking into the possibility of instating a mileage tax.

Some cars will undoubtedly be exempt from Obama's mileage tax

The Hill drives home the point:

The Obama administration has floated a transportation authorization bill that would require the study and implementation of a plan to tax automobile drivers based on how many miles they drive.

The plan is a part of the administration’s Transportation Opportunities Act, an undated draft of which was obtained this week by Transportation Weekly.

The White House, however, said the bill is only an early draft that was not formally circulated within the administration.

“This is not an administration proposal,” White House spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki said. “This is not a bill supported by the administration. This was an early working draft proposal that was never formally circulated within the administration, does not taken into account the advice of the president’s senior advisers, economic team or Cabinet officials, and does not represent the views of the president.”

News of the draft follows a March Congressional Budget Office report that supported the idea of taxing drivers based on miles driven.

We hope the Obama-bots won’t be too worried though. It seems entirely likely that a significant portion of the funds generated from this mileage tax could be used to provide bus passes.

  • What's next? The Death tax? Oh wait, already happened. OK then, a fart tax?

Side note: I personally prefer using public transportation (no insurance fees).

  • At some point we will be taxed for the amount of air that we consume a year. I can totally see it.

  • If they keep at it, we will soon have a situation like Scandinavia. I was in Sweden a while back... their gas costed roughly $8.50 /gallon. (14.20 kr/l $1 = 6.20kr) I asked the guy in the station how come? If he was correct, roughly 60% (SIXTY!!!) of that was taxes.

    • We cannot expect businesses to take on those taxes, they have to pass it on. i think that is what is wrong with liberals, they think that companies have enough funds to absorb the taxes and not passing it on and since they do they are evil and more taxes are levied. It is insanity.

  • Well, I hope they can find a way to put an odometer on my horse because that will be my transportation if they try this crap! Good damn luck.

  • I am sure the reasoning behind this will be that it is better for Gaia. The fleecing of America will never cease.

  • This tax targets the successful bedroom communities, that usually commute 20 to 30 or more miles each day, to work in large cities all across America. Actually, if you own an alarm clock you are their target.

  • I've had some of the welfare losers point out to me that they DO pay taxes. They pay sales tax, gas tax, registration taxes on their cars,...............

They weren't happy when I told them that they paid those taxes with my money.
