Obama warns about return to disastrous past, ignores disastrous present

obama weekly radio address

President Obama really ramped up the rhetoric during his weekly radio address by warning all of those listening – both of them – to beware of the Republicans’ recently released Pledge to America.

It “…is grounded in (the) same worn out philosophy: cut taxes for millionaires and billionaires; cut the rules for Wall Street and the special interests; and cut the middle class loose to fend for itself,” Obama said, adding, “That’s not a prescription for a better future. It’s an echo of a disastrous decade we can’t afford to relive.”

Funny that he should speak of things we can’t afford since he’s spent twenty months – which certainly seems like a disastrous decade – ensuring that we can’t afford a damn thing.

“Republican proposals showed they were the ones not listening to voters’ desires,” the President continued. “And for all their talk about reining in spending and getting our deficits under control, they want to borrow another $700 billion, and use it to give tax cuts to millionaires and billionaires.”

The speech left us wondering how the President got from the $250,000 threshold he’s proposed for higher taxes to “millionaires and billionaires”? And while we’re wondering things, we also wondered how passing legislation that over 60% of American voters oppose could possibly constitute “listening to voter’s desires.”

  • Glenn Beck says this all the time. Have anyone at any point in time been hired by a poor person? Is it possible to work for a person that CANNOT pay you? HELLO! These billionaires and millionaires MAKE JOBS possible. The government DOESN'T MAKE ITS OWN MONEY. It prints it yes, but the circulation of it depends entirely on the citizens and their businesses. Continuing to print money only makes it value lesser and penalizing the rich or the "rich" will not make things rosy and dandy it will make things worst, because they will stop hiring, stop making new business and eventually leave. I have a liberal friend that says well the government should stop them from leaving... and the government should stop them from being greedy... and the government should make sure that they continue to hire people and given them benefits EVEN if it means personal economical loss and I say honey that is not republican democratic country that is a socialist/communist/nazi country and do you seriously want to live in such a country? Seriously what happens once that rich person of industry is no longer rich? EVERYONE that person hires will not have a job! Think it through it makes no sense! Liberal state of mind = insanity.

  • 6 years ago it became necessary for me to retain a tax attorney. As I slapped the 50 Benjamins onto his desk to get his attention he pointed out that I couldn't really prove that the dollars were mine, that in fact my name was not to be found on them anywhere, that the only apparent ownership as one might construe from the bills themselves was The United States, or the signatures of the secretary of the treasury and whoever else has their signature on U.S. currency. I'd look at some if I had any to be more specific but honestly I don't have a single bill in any denomination so you'll either take my word for it or whatever.

Our Eagle droppings are going to fail if we don't get hold of this beast, and soon.

Yes, the middle class tax break, ala Clintonian Economix. Remember when that douchehose would not put a number on the 'middle class'? This hosebag says you're too wealthy at anything more than 250,000. Eventually, you've made enough money, but he will never stop because... Well just look at the picture. He isn't one of us. He's pelosi, reid and all of them. It's wrong of me to only use democrats names but it is much easier since they're all leeches.

  • It's almost unbelievable that someone is making a living, writing speeches full of such complete drivel - especially in the face of reality! And this guy is dumber than a bag of hammers to get up there and honestly think he will change our minds?

I read a great post the other day that said Obama, Reid and Pelosi are the band on the fantail of the Titanic, playing the same tune over and over -- and dont understand why no one is dancing .... fricking morons!
    mv

    • Of course, that is an insult to the musicians on the Titanic who knew they could not survive, yet played on to calm the crowd.

        • Oh I know. That was very tongue in cheek. I hve FAR more respect for the Titanic Musicians! And people wonder why I have high blood pressure-do they ever read anything, watch ANY news, or other non-fiction (not reality) programming? One has to really WORK to be as dumb as Obama and his minions appear to be. I suspect it is a ruse. Look dumb while carving out our hearts from behind.

    • "And this guy is dumber than a bag of hammers to get up there and honestly think he will change our minds?"

It's called the Big Lie principal. Tell a lie often enough, especially if you're in a position of authority, and people will eventually believe it.

    • I'm afraid not. You will be hearing "the voters threw a temper tantrum", rather than the more obvious "the voters are pissed off at me because they don't like what I'm doing."

Like all libs, he figures the reason their stuff fails is because we, the people are stupid. It just doesn't even occur to them that maybe, just maybe they're wrong, and the murderously wretched shite that even CASTRO says is a failure is a failure. Thank G-d that we have people that will rise up before they take it as far as their communist heroes did, and try to kill out dissent.

  • "A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul." George Bernard Shaw

Obama and the Dems are playing to a significant number of their supporters...the deadbeats out there who think somebody else, i.e. the government/taxpayers, should provide everything for them. Sticking it to people who've worked hard and have attained wealth, by taxing the hell out of them, is what they live for.
