Parents in Morgan Hill, California are pissed about the Cinco de Mayo flag flap. Plenty pissed. And they showed up at last night’s school board meeting to express their displeasure with the way things were handled.
KTVU reveals the rancorous details:
About 200 people packed the middle school auditorium where the meeting was held to accommodate the larger than normal number of people who attended to vent their feelings.
“Regardless where we came from when we come to this nation, we adopt its culture and what this nation stands for and the flag,” said Morgan Hill resident Lavonne Atnit. “I am personally getting very tired of disrespect to that flag and what this nation stands for.”
Morgan Hill’s Claudia Rossi offered some advice to the Latino student who walked out of school in protest the day following the incident.
“To those Latino kids that are here: you are not going to change the mind of one person that is being offensive to you,” said Rossi. “Educate yourself. That is the way to honor your flag wherever you come from.”
The boys who wore the patriotic colors — which some Latino students viewed as disrespectful — did not show up. However, some of their parents did.
“The students were not making a political statement. Their goal was to simply their pride in their country,” said parent Joy Jones. “As parents we are proud we have raised young men who stand up for what they believe in.”
We have two words on the whole incident: muy estúpido.

I fail to see what wearing an A$merican flag shirt on Cinco de Mayo is going to do.
Now if Spain's president had chimed in that would be different but these are TEEN-AGERS

You are not imagining things. There is a strong movement in southern California which incites Hispanics to "take back" the southwestern United States, renaming it Aztlan, since they somehow believe they have a right to it.

how it actually happened:
*mexico speaks to americans* "hey, americans, see all this westward land? nobody lives here, and we want it occupied, would you mind doing that for us? we will let you have slaves here" *mexican rule sucks, so texans secede from mexico, mexico gets super pissed, declares war, fighting against mexico are former US residents AND mexicans, this goes on, and eventually the conflict is resolved, texas is now free, and we get some other states in the deal, sweet.*
obviously, its more complicated than that, but thats the basic outline, mexico didnt even use that land, they only didnt want the state to move out on its own, because before, it was spanish land.
so point that out any time you can...also point out that mexicans arent actually aztec, so they arent ethnically mexican, they are actually spanish people, the offspring of the rape of aztec women, and the plundering and theft of aztec land
thats right, mexico got started by the spaniards doing the very things they accuse the united states of doing.

I've made this comment before but will repeat it.Mexicans in America whether legal or not seem to want to attain territory for mexico and make the U.S. or at least the SWest U.S. into an extension of mexico. Is it because of a deep love and respect for the mexican government? Why not go back and enjoy the mexico you love so? Why did you come here, is it because it's better here? Better schools, hospitals, police, roads and services? So you want to change it into mexico? you must be frkn stupid.

I saw one parent that could be a parent of a mexican kid but pretty much all the mexican - american ppl that went up to talk were kids. I find that weird.
In any case this whole thing went completely out of control. Either he should have just had everyone take all shirts and flags off or just let it ride. If a fight or something ensued then discipline those that got into a fight individually. I hope that vice principal gets fired.
