We now turn IHateTheMedia.com over to frequent commenter Perlcat so he can let off a little steam:
No good deed goes unpunished. If you mistakenly send a politician twenty bucks to help elect people that you want in office, they make the mistake of believing that you believe in every single splinter of every plank of their platform, every chump, every schmuck, every moron.

When it’s the RNC, after much wishy-washiness trying to shave a few tenths of a percent off of a budget that has added trillions in the past couple years, they just plain irritate me to no end. I mean, do they call that an accomplishment? While I’m looking for trillions in budget reduction, they’re talking about the kind of money the EPA finds in the couch cushions. Clearly the Republican “leadership” has not comprehended what the American public has — that it is a spending problem, and you fix it by not spending so much.
This is the organization that encouraged that witch Lisa Murkowski’s write-in campaign after someone else won Alaska’s primary. Clearly, it is more of a solicitation of dues to a club that I’m not allowed to join than it is a campaign fund to elect competent politicians. When we see the light at the end of the tunnel, with bright stars like Jim DeMint, Michelle Bachmann and others, pinheads like Karl Rove think they can use their credibility to hack on them, cut them down, keep the crop of new politicians into office in line with the “more of the same” crowd. So when the RNC sent me their umpteenth letter, I went off on them. I doubt that they’ll ever read it, so I’ll let you guys read it, see what you think.
I hereby revoke the RNC’s right to their acronym, and confer on them the acronym “SSDD”. Yep, Same Sh*t, Different Day.
Dear RNC:
Thank you for your email soliciting a donation from me. Unfortunately, I no longer donate to the Republican party as it clearly does not represent my interests in Washington.
I wish you did. Unfortunately, nothing has transpired in the past year that has convinced me that you offer any more of a solution than the current imbecile residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. With very few exceptions, the Republican leadership has proved feckless and of very poor negotiating ability. With a Democrat insurgency hell-bent upon destroying our nation, this is not the time for “me too” politics.
The difference you guys present is marginal at best — a choice in our nation failing in four years instead of two. I’d like to think better of our nation and our politicians. So please remove me from your donor list.
You are welcome to email me when you guys are serious about fixing this nation’s ills. Until then, as I said before, my money goes elsewhere.
If you want suggestions on how to get people fired up, I suggest you guys stop treating the few politicians actually acting as if they gave a damn about the crisis our nation is in like pariahs and tell Rove to drink a tall glass of STFU until he has something useful to say.
Regards,
Perlcat

I vote, that's it: I don't do fundraisers... I know the feeling, but thankfully it goes to my parents' home address since I'm at college. Thankfully I rarely have my phone on and I don't answer the home one... When there are surveys and recorded messages or another politician, I just hang up like the solicitors...ugg. I did however, having prior, met Julie Harhart, get a thank you letter with my name in it, hand-signed in the mail..that was appreciated (think I mentioned that here last year actually when I first popped up and met drb and PoppaJoe, but fundraising ICK.
My response to the RNC was for the national leaders to get some balls and act like leaders and then just maybe then I might consider writing them a check or two. Until then I would support the local canidates and the national level could go to hell.
When they called back in two days, my son answered the phone. He told the guy on the phone "My dad said for all of you at the RNC to go to hell and get some balls" they haven't called back since.
LOL! I've had that pleasure myself!
"Standing Ovation". Well said. I agree wholeheartedly. They don't get a dime from me unless they do something worthwhile.
BTW, I would be happy to help serve a tall glass of STFU to Karl Rove. He definitely needs to stop pissing on the Tea Party and calling it constructive criticism. Rove need only to look in the mirror to see a member of the Republican establishment.
The C in RNC must stand for Cave-in.
Perlcat wrote a masterpiece. The comparison of the spending cuts to EPA couch cushions was perfect.
Shame on me for believing this incoming bunch of Republicans "got it" with regards to spending.
You go boy!
This is why I don't have a party affiliation and I don't donate to individual canditates nor to the party of a candidate I like. I feel very strong about it. Beyond a vote, I may distribute pamphlets or something but that hasn't really happened so far.
I don't give money to anything anymore because of the same crap. Can't even go to a store for milk anymore without being asked at the cash register if I'd like to donate to one thing or another, and I'm not embarresed to look them in the eye and say NO. I'm tired of it.
I'm sure the intern that got the letter read the first paragraph and marked Perlcat down as "Dissatisfied with Republicans."
When the big GOP bosses look at the month-end statistics, they'll see that a huge number of people like Perlcat are "Dissatisfied with Republicans."
They'll put their collective dunce caps together and come up with a fail-safe plan to stanch the hemorrhaging: "Try to be even more like Democrats."
Bravo!
Good job! I hope somebody reads it, but like you I am not optimistic they will.
I take exception to one thing: they didn't cut "a few tenths of a percent." They cut two ten thousandths. I figured it out for my Fire John Boehner column: http://jpattitude.com/110416.php
Right now I can't decide whether I am more disgusted by Democrats or Republicans.
I think the Democrats disgust me more. But damn, they sure are good at demagoguery. Joseph Goebbels was amateur compared to today's Democrats.
Exactly. Killer disappointment. I don't want to vote *against* a politician. I want to vote *for* someone to get us the hell out of this mess.
