Based on an interview with Hearst Magazines, Barack Obama mistakenly thought he was running for President of his neighborhood Rotary Club instead of President of the United States.
It was, apparently, a huge surprise when he woke up one day in the White House and discovered that he was the most powerful man in the world and bore the burdens that come with that job.

The Columbus Dispatch has the tear-jerking story (more jerk, assuredly, than tears):
“I just miss — I miss being anonymous,” he said at the meeting in the White House. “I miss Saturday morning, rolling out of bed, not shaving, getting into my car with my girls, driving to the supermarket, squeezing the fruit, getting my car washed, taking walks. I can’t take a walk.”
He says he enjoys golf but is not the fanatic that some have portrayed.
“It’s the only excuse I have to get outside for four hours at a stretch,” he said.
His impossible dream: “I just want to go through Central Park (in New York) and watch folks passing by . . . spend the day watching people. I miss that.”
According to the latest polls, there are huge numbers of Americans who can’t wait until his dream comes true.

I'm sure we will all do our best to make sure Barry's wishes are fulfilled come 2012!
I tell you, hearing false modesty from a man known for being an egotistical pr*ck is particularly galling.
He is the most modest man in the world... I know because he told us.
Last I checked, the Office of the President was a VOLUNTARY gig! In fact, I do believe, the Oath of Office goes something like, "I accept this office freely and without reservation." If he longs for those long, anonymous walks in the park, we can give them back to him...
There's two things this brings to mind, one mentioned in one form or another by many already -
1. By all means Barack, go for it! Set anonymity as a goal in life, say, just to pull a random date out of thin air, on Jan 21, 2013. I think it's doable. And judging by most of your actions, you may already have set that goal.
2. Of course a liberal in a position of power wants anonymity. Don't they all? That's their dream - to be able to enact whatever laws they want any time they want without any of those annoyances of media attention, advance public awareness, internet bloggers, constitutional tests, etc. Oh, to have power and money without anyone knowing who you are or what you are doing. Now that would be just peachy!
I never wanted to do this in the first place!
I... I wanted to be... A LUMBERJACK!
(piano vamp)
Leaping from tree to tree! As they float down the mighty rivers
of British Columbia! With my best girl by my side!
On second thought, let's not go to DC. It is a very silly place.
What a crybaby! When the going gets tough, commies go golfing! He's like a little girl playing dress-up and wearing grownup makeup in all the wrong places. If he were a little kid, it'd be funny and we could all ha, ha, ho, ho isn't he cute, but he's a grown man and he expects us to fawn all over him like he's the most desireable professor on campus, or the college all star BMOC! Now that his real approval ratings have tanked he wants to quit and walk away!? What a whiner. Hey Bama, you want some cheese with that wine?!? He's like most spoiled little brats that don't get their way--they want to take their ball and go home. Oh boo-hoo! I was ready for you to enter oblivion before you bacame our national em-bare-ass-ment. Why don't you stick your finger in your nose and pick some grey matter you half-white Alfred E. Newman! Leave already! I'm ready to forget you right now!
Almost started tearing up as I read his sad testimonial. What was that about wishing he could skip shaving though, he could go for a couple weeks and that pitiful fuzz would barely be noticable.
Well it probably is tough. George Sorus constantly on the phone yelling, "Listen Numbnuts, I didn't spend hundreds of millions of dollars to get you in that position for you to be vacationing all over hell and living on the golf course. I put you there to screw up America, and although you've done that pretty well, just think of the damage you could do if you worked at it full time. Now shape up!"
I gotta agree with several others here. If Obummer did not want to be in the public spotlight then why did he run for the office to begin with.
Isn't it funny how real life can slap the arrogance and ambitions out of your head! I'm sitting here on the 'puter, checking out the daily goings on, listening to Lynyrd Skynrd, it's pronounced "Leonard Skinard" for you young folks, and thinking this old southern rock band is right.
Simple Man and the Ballad of Curtis Lowe tells it like it is. You don't have to "show your ass" to prove to the world how important you are. All you have to be is a simple man, with the smarts, toughness and humility to be a good leader. Or a good guitar player and blues man. Listen to the words of these two songs then think about it. Arrogance and a good speaking voice does not mean you are a good leader, hit songs on the charts does mean you are a good song writer or musician.
Mr. President, I vow to do my best to send you back to those good ol' days of being out of the spot light as soon as possible. November 2012 will be here sooner than you think!
