    • They should make him pay for all those buses he drowned, instead of using to evacuate residents! He should also have to make restitution for all the looting in the stores and damage to the Saint's stadium, that was done by his "chocolate" constituency.

    Not that the ignorant asshole of a FEMA director was any better, but at least he got fired for being totally incompetent.

    • He had the nerve to come on Fox News and after all of this time laid it on Bush again saying that he asked Bush to come to New Orleans. When the conversation had nothing to do with Bush but about Obama's failure to appear at the border. It would have been logistically difficult for Bush to make it to New Orleans DURING the storm and RIGHT AFTER the storm he had to get there after the storm had passed and it was safe and logistically sensical for him to go and he did!

      What the hell did these people expect? Bush is not G-d! This was a natural disaster, an act of G-d whatever one wishes to label it. How does it make sense for the President to land so close to the storm and RIGHT after when relief efforts should have been number one? Also how come Bush doesn't get credit for being on the phone with these fools and making sure that they had all they needed? He wanted to protect the sovereignty of New Orleans and not do anything without their permission, and they decided to block the aid themselves. Seriously Bush had a rotten deal on that area.

      • Kimmy, Bush WASN'T on the phone with Nagin or Blanco. He was off on the west coast having himself a jolly time, and left the whole disaster in charge of a horse judge. And, when he finally showed up, he claimed that he hadn't realized the problem was so bad.

        If that had been Obama, you righties would have been shrieking your indignation, and you know it.

        How strange that you're so quick to absolve Bush of ANY responsibility for ANY of his many screw-ups. Apparently you have very low standards for Republican presidents.

          • It is funny to me because Bush going there right before and during and right after a natural disaster makes no logistical sense. Bush ain't Jesus, he could have tried to parachute in and ask Katrina to stop, but he probably would have died. Other than actively trying to stop the storm there is nothing else he could have done that he ALREADY did. He asked if he could help and put things in place for help to come and he was essentially denied. Then he passed by which is a debatable issue if he should have not passed by or at least not have that picture taken as a way to witness the event as much as possible and I am sure that he was praying for those people. At that point in the plane what was he supposed to do? Parachute himself into the eye of the storm? Then he got home made sure that whatever he could do he could do and then when it made logistical sense he actually went! So what's the problem?

            It was an act of G-d, a natural disaster, a climactic event that was out of his control even a rapper (50 Cent) stated that people need to calm down, Katrina the storm was not his fault and that he did whatever he could do at the moment he did it. I mean seriously.

            This entire situation at the border is (in my opinion) a man made disaster and it can be traced back to Obama. Even if to make act of presence to encourage and thanks the border works who are getting hit with diseases and lice and other disgusting things that they shouldn't have to deal with, he should have gone to show that he is a man in control of the situation that he created/that he could do more to stop or control.

            I don't see this Bush vs Obama at all. How was Bush needed right before, during and right after Katrina? :-/ Whereas Obama can take very simple other complicated and very certain steps to prevent more kids coming through and to fix the situation we have at hand. He doesn't want to do it, and he didn't want to go because he is lazy and because he didn't see a point to it as the plan is working as he deemed it so. It is as simple as that.

          • Where are you getting the notion that anyone expected Bush to go to New Orleans "right before, during and after" the hurricane, Kimmy? Most of us just wanted him to pay attention, as the rest of the nation----in fact, the rest of the WORLD---was doing.

            The problem was that the President of the United States was asleep at the wheel. Mind you, I realize why you and your fellow righties had no problem with that. None of you had any expectations of Bush as a leader, just as you now refuse to hold him accountable for any of his many mistakes and omissions.

            But some of us think he should have skipped the birthday party and the mugging around with a guitar and so on, when the worst natural disaster in living memory was in progress. At the very least, he should have been better informed than the average Joe sitting in front of a TV set. Yet he wasn't. Not only was he not paying attention, but he was leaving the disaster in the charge of people who weren't equipped to handle it. It's like a parent leaving a sick toddler in the charge of a six year old, to go off on a minivacation.

            Quite simply, you can't compare the two situations. But I know you will try, because that's what your favorite right wing pundits are programming you to do.

          There is nothing that Bush could have done, but to do what he did BEFORE, then go back to Washington and wait until it was safe and logistically opportune to go, and declare a federal disaster area and act.

          The only problem here was the route taking to go back to Washington and the damn photo taken. That was a bad idea.

          However, even then what was he supposed to do? Strap a parachute on his back and jump off the plane and pretend to be Jesus and ask Katrina to stop? I mean what was the man supposed to do? Just like in 9/11, was the man supposed to jump off and scare the sh*t out of the kids and scream and wail?

          Yet Obama and his administrations actively CREATES this issue and he doesn't give a crap to go, why? Because that is what he wanted and why go over there and allow pictures of himself with these so called "refugees"? However not even to go and thank personally the people at the border for what they are doing? It is disgraceful.

          • I repeat, Kimmy: during the Katrina disaster, the flak at Bush was focused on his failure to shore up faltering infrastructure BEFOREHAND; the failure to appoint a competent professional to head FEMA; and his apparent lack of concern for the hundreds who were thirsty, hungry, dehydrated and sick as a consequence of Katrina and poor management.

            In short, he didn't lead. He didn't even follow. He just went AWOL, and then made tardy reparations later with a flyover.

            No one would have cared if he did or didn't visit the disaster site, if he'd shown interest or concern while it was unfolding. But, while millions of Americans were glued to their TVs (or, as in my case, their computers) watching in horror, Bush was missing in action. His party's economic policies had slashed the federal funds required even to maintain the levees, to 20% of what the Army Corps of Engineers reported was needed. That's just to maintain them, mind you, not to repair them.

            No, Obama did not "create this issue." The existing law pertaining to these refugees was signed by George W. Bush. The Republicans have made a lot of noise about immigration during ensuing years, but they CHOSE not to address the issue. So don't be bitching Obama out for a situation that your own party helped to create, and has refused to change since it was created.

            Now tell me whom you think Obama should "thank" at the border, and why.
