Q: What is the common denominator between these neighborhoods?
A: Shut the **** up, you **** racist!
The common denominator is one-party Democrat rule, high taxes, no jobs, white flight, business flight, bad schools, unionized civil servants and, did I mention, one-party Democrat rule.
One by one, the great cities of the United States are failing and crumbling into physical, social and economic ruin---and they'r eall governed by Democrats.
The government can pay for your kids, pay your rent, pay for your food and give you a free phone but you pay the ultimate price of living in a crime ridden, dying city.
That is what I often tell those who says both parties are the same, dems are the worst.

Nobody else has said it so I will. What do all these violent neighborhoods have in common? They are all poor, inner city, mostly black neighborhoods. The people LBJ so famously said needed the most help and his "war on poverty" would lead them to a better life are still living in poverty like most of us have never seen. Our government has spent unknown billions on programs to "help the poor" and it has done no good, it has been and continues to be a waste of money.
Who has these liberal programs helped? Pretty much only the gooberment officials who run them. Liberals love to say all it takes is a little more money and we will help all these downtrodden, poor people, which is bullshit. All more money will do is line the pockets of more gooberment officials who care nothing about the downtrodden poor people.
The only thing that will help the poor in our country is jobs and personal responsibility. If you don't work, you don't get a free dump to live in. If you don't work we will give you beans and rice instead of enough food stamps to eat steak every night, and you won't have trade them for dope, booze and cigarettes instead of buying food.
A lot of us grew up poor but we had parents with pride, who asked nothing from anyone but a job. We were taught that hard work would lead to a better life, and it did. Unfortunately so many have been on the welfare train for so long, I know some who are on the fourth generation of welfare patients, that they have lost their pride. Their families no longer know how to take care of themselves, they have no work ethics because as far back as great grandma nobody had to work. The welfare will take care of us so why get a job?
And that is exactly where the liberal elected elite want them, under their collective thumbs. The elected elite love all this violence in poor cities, it gives them an excuse to take even more rights away from us working, taxpaying, Americans all in the name of fairness. Take away from those of us who strive to make a better life and give to those who don't know how to do any better and the violence will go away. Which is bullshit. The violence will go away when we are all at the same poverty level, exept for the chosen few, the elected elite.
Well put. A part of the difference between then and now is the concept of being entitled to food and shelter irrespective of the effort one puts in to earn it... it is a claim that the progressives have encouraged those who've become conditioned to be empowered by their poverty to lay claim on the resources of others that the government confiscates through taxation to fund handout programs to which the chronically and generational poor become economically addicted to.
The thing is that when one steps back and considers things from a big picture perspective it becomes fairly clear that the liberals couldn't possibly be less interested in solving anything when they repeatedly use as campaign leverage the threats of losing the entitlement gravy train should they become unseated in the voting booth. The separation of receiving money from the concept of personal effort and responsibility has blunted the effect that a brighter economic future might have in inspiring a reversal in the voting booth... too many are simply voting the same as they exist- benefit check to benefit check and they only see their own futures being linked to the perpetuation of the federal gravy train.
Call the liberals stupid and characterize their intentions as good as so many do but in my mind that is a bit of trickery itself because I see this particular degraded form of entitlement Utopian tyranny as being perpetuated by the continuing existence of poverty- it has nothing long term to gain by people getting off welfare... so beyond making speeches and deliberately wasting tons of money on boondoggles labeled as economic stimulus and job growth they have zero intention of doing anything that does not entrench their target constituency in the economic quicksand of poverty. The thing is that it is child's play for the liberals to blame any opposition for the mess when there's any opposition to liberal policies that are deliberately mislabeled as job creation because the core constituency tends to either not have the critical thinking skills to decipher the BS or is disinclined to do so.
The progressives- Democrats and RINOs (wolves in sheep's clothing) are to blame for the mess- and it isn't because of abject failure of their policies because those policies have worked exactly as intended- the abject failure is with the media for persistently refusing to vet the elected demagogues and their policies for what they really are... and it's my contention that the dangerous neighborhood fallout is hardly unintended in light of the mind set of "never let a crisis go to waste".
And the solution according to the very same people who created these meccas of safety? Disarm the public, restrict rights, and create a police state.
If they weren't so stupid, you would almost think they did it on purpose.
They did do it on purpose, they're not so stupid as they are driven by their marxist ideology and their narcissism and desire to control the lives of others because theirs are spiraling out of control. They're like drug addicts, it's going to take a forceful intervention to stop them and get them under control.
