Rick’s new rant: Santelli unhappy with critics of Congressional Constitution reading

The Father of the Tea Party is not happy. And you know what happened the last time Rick Santelli got upset.

Liberals didn’t want the Constitution read on the floor of the House on Thursday. New York Democrat Jerrold Nadler, actually complained that it was being read “like a sacred text.” The New York Times called it “a presumptuous and self-righteous act.”

That didn’t sit well with CNBC’s Rick Santelli.

The Daily Caller has the details:

“Oh my God. We’re wasting so much money. You know this reading stuff is way overrated – whether it’s the Constitution – or reading scores in the U.S., or reading bills,” he said sarcastically. “A complete waste of time – come on. This is the digital age.”

He noted the hypocrisy of members of Congress who were sworn in to uphold and protect the Constitution (at least most of them) but pushed back against the idea of having it read on the chamber floor.

“You know what then – here’s what I want to know – then why did they all swear to that when they took their jobs yesterday? What a bunch of hypocrites.”

“Squawk Box” co-host Joe Kernen offered his view on how he thought some members of Congress viewed the document.

“Some swear to and some swear at it, I think,” Kernen said.

Do. Not. Piss. Off. Rick. Santelli.

  • But you can bet they'll go running to the Constitution when it defends some liberal lunatic idea they come up with. Like Obama defending the Ground Zero mosque, on Constitutional grounds. Like he ever gave a crap about the Constitution, it being a "flawed document" and all.

    • The Constitution is only good enough when it appears to defend a liberal cause. If it is inconvenient then it is too old and needs to be ignored.

  • You know what? I think this new congress should read aloud the Federalist Papers as well. I heard that the Republicans are going to invite consititutional scholars to speak in front of Congress, for an hour or so, about constitutional issues. I understand that this will happen on a weekly basis. Good step. Good way to educate the American people and the libtards in Congress, in both parties. "Better to poke holes in your vapid political, social,
and economic theories, my little red marxist-socialist riding hoods."

    • The reading of the most important foundational documentation is a good idea. If anything they should take the time to "remind" the idiots what they swore they would protect a few days ago and then remind the idiots what the country was based on.

Unfortunately as Glenn Beck said they didn't read the entire Constitution and he believes it was due to political correctness and so on.

  • It is truly a sad day when the constitution of the United States of America has become so trivialized....by our elected members of government no less! Shame on them and shame on the NY Times (or in other words POS progressive rag).

  • The don't read the bills they write, they don't read the bills that they sign, I wouldn't expect them to read the Constitution.

  • What can you expect from these idiots on the left. The FBI has even gone so far as to call our Constitution a terrorist document. You can't even call these morons birdbrains because they aren't that smart, and it would be a shame to insult our avian friends that way. Sheesh, please give me a break.

    • Yup. I'm curious if its an act from him or he's really willing to call for what needs to be done: "Water" the tree of liberty with congress and every head and mid-level manager of two dozen agencies.
