If you live in San Francisco and you’re unfortunate enough to work for someone other than the city/county government, you’re getting screwed. And there ain’t no glory hole in sight.

The SF Gate spells out the specifics:
The average retiree from San Francisco city government earns an annual pension of $46,272, according to the San Francisco Employees’ Retirement System. The average retiree who worked at least 30 years in city government earns an annual pension of $76,981.
The average pension for a retiree from the Fire Department is $108,552. From the Police Department? $95,016. And everybody else? $41,136.
The figures show most retirees aren’t getting anywhere near the fat packages that outrage many city residents – like the $264,000 pension paid to former Police Chief Heather Fong last year.
But city retirees are doing pretty well compared with working San Franciscans. Census data show the median family income in the city is $86,546. Per capita income is $44,373.

San Francisco and California must be modeled after the Mafia. The guys who are lowest on the totem-pole (soldiers) have to "kick up" to their Capos (captains) who have to "kick up" to the bosses.
I think the time has come to silence my dear friend Coddy. I'm afraid that vacuous sock puppet in the White House is gonna discover him and take him seriously.
"...vacuous sock puppet..."
LOL!!
Imagine what would happen if liberals didn't"care".
Maybe, "It's for the children"?
$264,000 per year pensions are no problem, just tax the rich!
Oh wait, according to Barry, that IS the rich....
Hmm, and San Francisco also passed special legislation so certain "high tech" employee's stock options were not taxed for city income- of course that is because society can just not do without the incredible talent it takes to write code so a congressman can show off his balls to high school girls studying civics
( is it me or does the chief look like the Sphinx)
You go girl, stick it to the man....er...uh....is this a girl?
All that I can say is that why didn't I get in on this racket early on?
*sighs*
It is hard being a good person. I do believe it is worth it in the end. After all they cannot take their pensions where they are going.
Last week I was telling the chauffeur how lucky he was to have me as his
owneremployer because of the thrill he gets from being in the same Rolls with my high IQ. But Mr. Fahrnsworth, with his demonstration of socialist mathematics, is truly my equal. We should hang out at Starbucks sometime and smile at the minorities and members of the working class who serve us lattes, Mr. Stewart. You're my type of people.
Preferably during my two-hour lunch hour.
My dear Mr. Fahrnsworth - it would be an honor. In my area the Starbucks is just across the street from the car wash where members of the working class are allowed to caress the Rolls with a sheepskin chamois for a mere pittance.
Dear I Hate The Media, i.e. libelous swill editors--
As a government employee and graduate of an Ivy League school and hence intellectually superior to the combined "brain" power of this site, I must say that your failure to understand simple socialist mathematics is a good indication why there is no Republican in the White House and no decent Conservative-based sit com.
Do you want me to hold your hand as I use my government employee intelligence to walk you through this? Don't be afraid, I realize you are all homophobes. Can you pronounce homophobe? The PH has an "f" sound.
Oh, good try, anyway!
So a government retiree is making $46,000 and the average worker is making $44,000. Big deal. You simply raise taxes on the worker making $44,000 to "compensate" the government worker.
Bam! Problem solved, crisis averted, go back to your cruise to Alaska, my fellow public servants.
The tax code is infinitely flexible. You can raise it to any level to make sure we government workers have our share of the pie. Or all of it, for that matter.
In. Sat. Ia. ble.
See, that wasn't too tough was it?
I eagerly await your half-witted replies which I will dispatch in surgical fashion.
Yours,
R. Coddington Fahrnsworth, public servant, socialist savant
Coddie, you rock! You should naturally assume that you are much smarter than your supervisors, well, because you probably are and you should start ruining their reputations, secretly, of course, and turn them into your local HR representative. Call them child molesters, or where I come from "Chesters" or say they're bigamists or worse yet, 'smokers!'
That should guarantee your promotion, I'll get back with you and we can discuss strategy when I return from my government job!
In. Sat. Ia. ble. ???
Oh, you mean Inn-say-sha-bull?
Farnsy, you're a riot!
Sarcasm. This post reeks of it
Coddy, old squiff, I yield to your superior verbosity.
But SF is the most efficiently run city in the history of the human race! Why shouldn't they make more than evil capitalist dupes who pay their pensions? And besides, according to Progressive math the numbers add up just fine.
