• The Shitspotter alarm goes off. The principle and superintendent hide under their desks. After 20 or so kids are killed the cops get there and arrest or take out the shooter.

  Does that sound about right? It does to me. The law can't be everywhere at the same time and it takes time to answer a call. The only way to minimize the carnage is to have armed citizens, teachers or private security personnel, at the school at all times. Anything less is just a waste of money and will do no good.

  • When I was in High School, we had serious racial issues, we also had security guards that I know for a fact, were armed, one of them showed me his snub nosed .38 in the ankle holster.
    There was not one shot fired in the 4 years I went there.

    BTW, this Shitspotter. Do you remember going to the circus as a kid and watching the clowns "spank" each other with that loud paddle? It was 2 pieces of wood, that slapped each other when they struck another object, and they were loud, like a gunshot.
    There are plenty of things that will set off this useless POS, and false alarms will have the cops ignoring emergency calls before long, because kids will be kids, and they will get a kick out of setting the thing off.

Bang a drum, shotspotter does register as a gunshot.....Cities that use it claim to know where the gunshots come from, however it still takes the cops a long time to get to where the shot came from...This is nothing more than a feel good measure, and all the little libtard parents in Newark are running around nodding their heads going, yea...school safety...yea...school safety..Yea we paid a lot of money for school safety....

  Train and arm people to protect the students and facility. Until then, there will be some crazy ass willing to enter a gun free zone and start killing. I once asked a lawyer for a hospital if he and the corporate office were prepared to defend itself for its weapons free policy. He was dumb founded by the question. He could not wrap his legal mind around the fact that by declaring their hospital grounds a weapons free zone, the administration and corporate officers (including himself) were responsible for the safety of all on their grounds.

  I asked this legal eagle if he realized I was armed and was prepared to use that weapon to defend and protect he and I both. He couldn't believe that I was armed as it was not showing and then he got all pissy about the carry conceal laws and that I was violating them. So I produced my identification and he then started in about "how could you be a pro gunner and be a law enforcement officer" so I pointed out that we "officers" can't be everywhere all the time and because of that he and others needed to be able to defend and protect themselves. Left his all frustrated and talking to himself. It was worth the visit to the chiefs office too.

  The school has never had an active shooter scenario, and officials wouldn’t say how many microphones are spread around campus, or how much the system cost, KTVU reports.

  “When there’s a school shooting without SecureCampus it’s chaos,” Newark principal Phil Morales told the news site. “It’s still chaos. It’s scary, but it gives us that immediate information.”

  Officials acknowledged that the system won’t prevent a school shooter from firing at students, but will help first responders react quickly if there is a shooting.

  “God forbid that this technology would ever have to be deployed,” Marken told KTVU. “But when it’s in place, we believe (a) significant number of lives will be saved.”

  Excuse me Mr. Marken, but armed teachers would do a much better job of reducing the number of lost lives, and likely kill the shooter, saving us all shitloads of money wasted on a trial.
