Signs of the times: Oregon versus Texas

gun-signs

The sign on the top was found at the Department of Motor Vehicles in Oregon. The sign on the bottom was photographed at Chapell Hill Bank in Texas.

This made us wonder if there were significantly more firearm deaths per capita in Texas than in Oregon. A little Google research gave us the surprising answer.

According to StateHealthFacts.org, Oregon ranks #28 with 10.5 firearm deaths per 100,000. Texas ranks #26 with 11.0 per 100,000. Virtually identical.

We suspect that the difference may be explained by the 0.5 firearm deaths per 100,000 that occur at the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles.

But you can’t really blame a guy for shooting one of those people, can you?

  • Well that is Texas for you. A lot of bad people will always think twice before going somewhere where they know good people have weapons and will not hesitate to use them.

  • I live in Austin and carry at all times unless I'm out drinking. A girlfriend once commented "You carry into a bank?" I replied "Banks get robbed. If I'm inside do I want to be unarmed with my gun in my car, or do I want it on me?" Liberals cannot get past the logic that anti carry laws only affect the behavior of good people.

  • I suspect that is one bank in Texas that doesn't have to worry about attempted armed robberies. I know I'd think twice if there might be a depositor standing behind me that's "pacikng" and takes a dim view of my stealing his money.

  • Take away the drug war deaths and the murders committed by illegals and Texas probably has way less gun crime than it appears.

  • Editor...Is a correction needed?

I'm thinking that one of those stats should say Texas.

  • The gunfacts info site indicated in the first comment looks quite interesting and a quick perusal of the e-book on it (after a quick scanning) might just be worth peoples' time to look at...Now this posting of the pictures from both Texas and Oregon really tell the tale of what sort of harm liberal moonbats have done to both the political landscape and life in general...
