I was in the limo business for a number of years and I have seen just about every vehicle imaginable cut and stretched. This vehicle is unsafe for use as a limo in my opinion. Of course if the passengers have life insurance, to quote my late brother-in-law: "It doesn't have to be a sad day for everyone!"
The stretch Mini was ridiculous and had such an overload problem with being under-hamsterpowered that it couldn't merge onto an interstate with a passenger load unless you were willing to take your life in your hands; praying you could get into traffic and not be overrun by a semi traveling at the speed limit. The V-4 Plymouth PT cruiser had similar issues when it was cut to make a 6-pax limo. Let's face it, even a 14 pax 4.6 liter V-8 Lincoln Town Car isn't something Shirley Muldowney would consider competitive in the quarter mile which is a longer that the average interstate merge lane. The Corvette limo was pretty decent though as I recall and the Ferrari Limo was almost peppy with a passenger load of 5 (including the driver). Even the Volt, pathetic as it is, has a gasoline option to power the batteries.
I can't believe anyone would be so stupid as to cut and stretch a Leaf--the damage to the electronics during the cut has to be extensive because to make a limo, the doors are removed and the car is put on rails and literally cut in half to add the extension in the middle. It's not pretty--and believe me I know the feeling of seeing a $55,000.00 car cut in half. I hope this "limo" comes with a well-stocked bar and a really long power cord.
Teri, you mean you actually have experience in the real world before getting involved in politics? You actually know something about something? You weren't a community organizer? You'd never be offered a spot in this administration.
I've never really considered owning a capacitor on wheels.
"The stretch Leafo has the advantage that more passengers will be around to help push when the juice runs out. The problem is, I don’t think any hippies have that many friends to fill it."
Ha! Hippies wouldn't do that kind of work anyway! They'd just sit by the side of the road until someone came along with new batteries!
Hey, didntcha see how Hank "King of the" Hill got all the hippies out of the state park?
I'm glad to see your link to the Daily Bayonet. I've been going there for six+ years, and it's an excellent site. I would particularly recommend the Thursday roundup, which brings together a weeks worth of stories from around the world and pokes holes in and fun at the latest enviro-looney pronouncements.
