Just what you need when that drug-crazed burglar is coming in your bedroom window at 3 a.m.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are pleased to introduce the Taurus 28 gauge short barreled shotgun revolver.

Oops. Sorry. It’s no longer available. Not because they were sold out, but because the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said, “You can’t sell that thing.”

The Taurus shotgun revolver, striking fear in hearts of burglars across the fruited plain

Yes, BATFE dropped by the Taurus booth at a major gun show and declared that the Brazilian-made 28 gauge revolver was actually an illegal short barreled shotgun, not a handgun.

As we understand it, Taurus checked the little box that said it was a shotgun instead of the one that said it’s a revolver. And that, apparently, is enough to get it banned in the United States. Burglars and other assorted bad guys are sending bouquets to the boys from BATFE this morning.

Too bad. We had already worked up a nifty little ad slogan for Taurus:

“When you get burglarized, the burglar gets vaporized.”

  • Damn! Oh well- it wouldn't have fit in my carry purse anyway. Still be interesting to take to the range, though!

  • I bought my wife a Taurus 45/410 as a gift and she loves it. Not so small that it woud make you feel exposed if a bad guy breaks in and you feel like you came to a gun fight with a pocketknife. Not so big that it's essentially a huge piece of useless metal junk in your hands and you feel like you need a tripod and a two man team just to use it and lug around the ammo and stuff. It's just right, petite enough for a feminine hand, moxy enough for a macho guy, and totally there when you need it. It won't tear the polish off of your fingernails or cause a spiral break in your wrist when you pull the trigger. That 410 shell and that 45 long-Colt speak with plenty of authority, anybody who fires back is either a damn suicidal maniac or a Navy SEAL...not your garden variety B&E! Of course, after taking a longing and loving look at the Taurus 28 guage, probably 50 cal.,....I WANT ONE!

    • Although I am not a fan of the Judge, it is a fine home defense firearm. Taurus also makes a Judge in .454 Casull and it WILL "tear the polish off of your fingernails" And Yippee Ky-AAA M****R-F****R is that a fun caliber to shoot. Although I would not suggest it for home defense or for the faint of heart, it will get the blood flowing, in more ways than one.

      • You must be younger than I am because you sound like you're still an adrenalin junky...me, I get my kicks on 'Route 66.' I'm gonna go check out the Taurus website and do some research on this .454 Casull. I'll check in with you later.

      • Thanks JJJRO, my wife just told me that it gives her a warm and fuzzy when she holds The Judge in her hand and she knows that 410 load is chambered...no matter how nervous or scared she might get she knows that all she has to do is 'point and pull.' I can tell you with all assurity that if you aim this gun at the center of mass of a guy charging up the stairs at say, three to five meters (roughly 10 to 15 feet) when you shoot him you'll put a nice nine inch pie-pan depression in his body, or you'll take his face off! Either way you'll totally ruin his whole day. She likes it so much that I have to ask her permission anytime I want to fire it! I should have bought two.

    • No, no KQ take a look at Gun guy's thread. All that BATFE hype in the libtard media is just that...hype. I think you can rest easy, you don't need to salivate any more, I'm pretty sure that it's still on the menu.

  • "...Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birth-right of an American ... the unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people."
    TENCH COXE

Being a connoisseur of powerful, large caliber handguns, I love the feel of borderline uncontrollable recoil and this is just the beast to provide that feeling.
Short barreled shotguns leave much to be desired regarding accuracy and spraying lead balls around my home and neighborhood is not my idea of self-defense, I still adamantly agree with Tench Coxe that it is the right of every American to own one, without restriction or registration.

  • My Taurus Judge handles a 410 shot gun and 45 acp. I put the 410 in the first chamber and follow with a 45. Pretty effective and not so big.

  • Since that beast above is a Taurus, is the street name Supreme Court! Sheesh that is a monster. And yes, I would love to have one.

  • The Klingons and Vulcans are my favorite Star Trek aliens.
Those green-skinned women from Orion ain't bad either...

    • By the way, did anyone notice the exact moment when this turned from a thread about a shotgun revolver to a discussion of Star Trek?

    • The best moment in TNG was in an episode where Riker was talking to Worf about his sexual needs and his dismay that there were no Klingon women aboard the Enterprise.

Riker said something like, "Well, Worf, I'm sure there are plenty of human women aboard who would be happy to help you out."

Worf's answer was, perhaps, the best line in the history of Star Trek: "I do not believe they would survive the experience."

  • I carry a 1927 colt 1911 45 as my main carry gun, if circumstances doent allow me to carry a full size weapon I carry a kel Tek .380.

A couple of winters ago my wife and I were leaving a mall when two gentlemen attempted to relive us of our valuables.
I'm not sure how far they would have gone, perhaps a car-jacking or worse but we'll never know because they had a bad experience.:)
I was not forced to shoot, thankfully, just knowing I was prepared was enough to send them running, I'm almost positive both men decided a career change was in order.
