The Edge still can’t build what he was hoping for

David Evans, aka the Edge, is the guitar player for Irish rock band U2, the most eco- and politically-correct band in history. U2 defined politically-correct standards of rock and roll.

Now the Edge wants to build a home on the soaring landscape above Malibu beach. It’s got all the correct environmental bells and whistles, too, the Edge says.

“We just had this dream of building a house that was in perfect harmony with these hills,” Mr. Evans said. “We see it as something that could be a bench mark of sustainability.”

But in the ever exacting bite of karma, a group of green eco-warriors are fighting the Edge’s new home. The Santa Monica Mountain Conservancy and the rich folks who live below are trying to stop the project, which includes, Gaia forbid, a road.

Maybe sustainability and environmental awareness are now just code words that help rich people keep the Irish out of their neighborhoods.

  • Actually, that should be; " ..help rich people keep the Welsh out of their neighborhoods." (clue: David Evans is Welsh.)

  • Wouldn't you want to keep that sanctimonious, self-righteous, douche bag out of your neighbourhood? I am no enviro loony, but if I heard that gas bag was moving in, I'd be tempted to help them keep the piece of scum out.

  • Now that "The Edge" has discovered a new karma called "the real world" maybe he can tell everone in the rock'n'roll community how a group of green eco-warriors are fighting his plan for a new home and the Santa Monica Mountain Conservancy and the rich folks who live below are trying to stop the project because of a road. Of course, I know I'm asking allot considering that we are talking about Californians who are leaving the state like rats on a sinking ship because of the total incompetence of the liberal leadership. Maybe, he could call Nancy Peloci and get her advice. Maybe he could call the Rock'n' rollers to help. Oh, sorry, I forgot, most of them are probably busy with those Aliester Crowley Satanic meetings and the sacrificial evening festivities.
Welcome to the New World Order, baby

  • A road? He can afford to helicopter in. That'll save building a road. Though the heavy lift chopper to drop all the supplies and workmen everyday might cost him more than packing it all in on a mule team.

  • Maybe they could build a mud hut without a road. No electricity. No gas. Just a hut - and furniture made of biodegradable dead wood that has already fallen in the forest - wouldn't want to kill any trees for hardwood floors, you know. They could plant grass on the hut so the rich people below would think it was just part of the hill. They could just come and go down the other side of the hill...on foot... taking care not to wear the grass down in one place too much. Of course, they would have to hire someone to haul water and such, but I'm sure they could work that out. When they die off, we could just throw them on the compost pile with the rest of the biodegradable rubbish. Their carbon footprint would be very small.
